1 A plaintive song of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, the Benjaminite.	1 Siggaion di Davide, il quale egli canto’ al Signore, sopra le parole di Cus Beniaminita SIGNORE Iddio mio, io mi confido in te; Salvami da tutti quelli che mi perseguitano, e riscuotimi;
2 LORD my God, in you I take refuge; rescue me; save me from all who pursue me,	2 Che talora il mio nemico non rapisca l’anima mia come un leone; E non la laceri, senza che vi sia alcuno che mi riscuota.
3 Lest they maul me like lions, tear me to pieces with none to save.	3 Signore Iddio mio, se ho fatto questo, Se vi è perversità nelle mie mani;
4 LORD my God, if I am at fault in this, if there is guilt on my hands,	4 Se ho renduto mal per bene a chi viveva in pace meco Io, che ho riscosso colui che mi era nemico senza cagione,
5 If I have repaid my friend with evil-- I spared even those who hated me without cause--	5 Perseguiti pure il nemico l’anima mia, e l’aggiunga, E calpesti la vita mia, mettendola per terra; E stanzi la mia gloria nella polvere. Sela.
6 Then let my enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and leave me dishonored in the dust.Selah	6 Levati, Signore, nell’ira tua; Innalzati contro a’ furori de’ miei nemici, E destati in mio favore; tu hai ordinato il giudicio.
7 Rise up, LORD, in your anger; rise against the fury of my foes. Wake to judge as you have decreed.	7 E circonditi la raunanza de’ popoli; E torna poi in luogo elevato di sopra ad essa.
8 Have the assembly of the peoples gather about you; sit on your throne high above them,	8 Il Signore giudicherà i popoli; Signore, giudicami; Giudica di me secondo la mia giustizia, e la mia integrità.
9 O LORD, judge of the nations. Grant me justice, LORD, for I am blameless, free of any guilt.	9 Deh! venga meno la malvagità de’ malvagi, E stabilisci l’uomo giusto; Conciossiachè tu sii l’Iddio giusto, che provi i cuori e le reni
10 Bring the malice of the wicked to an end; uphold the innocent, O God of justice, who tries hearts and minds.	10 Il mio scudo è in Dio, Che salva quelli che son diritti di cuore.
11 A shield before me is God who saves the honest heart.	11 Iddio è giusto giudice, E un Dio che si adira ogni giorno.
12 God is a just judge, who rebukes in anger every day.	12 Se il mio nemico non si converte, egli aguzzerà la sua spada; Già ha teso l’arco suo, e l’ha preparato.
13 If sinners do not repent, God sharpens his sword, strings and readies the bow,	13 Egli ha apparecchiate arme mortali; Egli adopererà le sue saette contro agli ardenti persecutori.
14 Prepares his deadly shafts, makes arrows blazing thunderbolts.	14 Ecco, il mio nemico partorisce iniquità; Egli ha conceputo affanno, e partorirà inganno.
15 Sinners conceive iniquity; pregnant with mischief, they give birth to failure.	15 Egli ha cavata una fossa, e l’ha affondata; Ma egli stesso è caduto nella fossa ch’egli ha fatta.
16 They open a hole and dig it deep, but fall into the pit they have dug.	16 Il travaglio ch’egli dà altrui gli ritornerà sopra la testa, E la sua violenza gli scenderà sopra la sommità del capo.
17 Their mischief comes back upon themselves; their violence falls on their own heads.	17 Io loderò il Signore, secondo la sua giustizia; E salmeggerò il Nome del Signore Altissimo
18 I praise the justice of the LORD; I celebrate the name of the LORD Most High.
