1 A plaintive song of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, the Benjaminite.	1 Psalmus David, quem cantavit Domino pro verbis Chusi, filii Jemini.
2 LORD my God, in you I take refuge; rescue me; save me from all who pursue me,	2 Domine Deus meus, in te speravi ; salvum me fac ex omnibus persequentibus me, et libera me :
3 Lest they maul me like lions, tear me to pieces with none to save.	3 nequando rapiat ut leo animam meam, dum non est qui redimat, neque qui salvum faciat.
4 LORD my God, if I am at fault in this, if there is guilt on my hands,	4 Domine Deus meus, si feci istud, si est iniquitas in manibus meis,
5 If I have repaid my friend with evil-- I spared even those who hated me without cause--	5 si reddidi retribuentibus mihi mala, decidam merito ab inimicis meis inanis.
6 Then let my enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and leave me dishonored in the dust.Selah	6 Persequatur inimicus animam meam, et comprehendat ; et conculcet in terra vitam meam, et gloriam meam in pulverem deducat.
7 Rise up, LORD, in your anger; rise against the fury of my foes. Wake to judge as you have decreed.	7 Exsurge, Domine, in ira tua, et exaltare in finibus inimicorum meorum : et exsurge, Domine Deus meus, in præcepto quod mandasti,
8 Have the assembly of the peoples gather about you; sit on your throne high above them,	8 et synagoga populorum circumdabit te : et propter hanc in altum regredere :
9 O LORD, judge of the nations. Grant me justice, LORD, for I am blameless, free of any guilt.	9 Dominus judicat populos. Judica me, Domine, secundum justitiam meam, et secundum innocentiam meam super me.
10 Bring the malice of the wicked to an end; uphold the innocent, O God of justice, who tries hearts and minds.	10 Consumetur nequitia peccatorum, et diriges justum, scrutans corda et renes, Deus.
11 A shield before me is God who saves the honest heart.	11 Justum adjutorium meum a Domino, qui salvos facit rectos corde.
12 God is a just judge, who rebukes in anger every day.	12 Deus judex justus, fortis, et patiens ; numquid irascitur per singulos dies ?
13 If sinners do not repent, God sharpens his sword, strings and readies the bow,	13 Nisi conversi fueritis, gladium suum vibrabit ; arcum suum tetendit, et paravit illum.
14 Prepares his deadly shafts, makes arrows blazing thunderbolts.	14 Et in eo paravit vasa mortis, sagittas suas ardentibus effecit.
15 Sinners conceive iniquity; pregnant with mischief, they give birth to failure.	15 Ecce parturiit injustitiam ; concepit dolorem, et peperit iniquitatem.
16 They open a hole and dig it deep, but fall into the pit they have dug.	16 Lacum aperuit, et effodit eum ; et incidit in foveam quam fecit.
17 Their mischief comes back upon themselves; their violence falls on their own heads.	17 Convertetur dolor ejus in caput ejus, et in verticem ipsius iniquitas ejus descendet.
18 I praise the justice of the LORD; I celebrate the name of the LORD Most High.	18 Confitebor Domino secundum justitiam ejus, et psallam nomini Domini altissimi.
