1 A plaintive song of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, the Benjaminite.	1 Lamento che Davide cantò al Signore a causa delle parole di Cus, il Beniaminita.
2 LORD my God, in you I take refuge; rescue me; save me from all who pursue me,	2 Signore, mio Dio, in te ho trovato rifugio:salvami da chi mi perseguita e liberami,
3 Lest they maul me like lions, tear me to pieces with none to save.	3 perché non mi sbrani come un leone,dilaniandomi senza che alcuno mi liberi.
4 LORD my God, if I am at fault in this, if there is guilt on my hands,	4 Signore, mio Dio, se così ho agito,se c’è ingiustizia nelle mie mani,
5 If I have repaid my friend with evil-- I spared even those who hated me without cause--	5 se ho ripagato il mio amico con il male,se ho spogliato i miei avversari senza motivo,
6 Then let my enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and leave me dishonored in the dust.Selah	6 il nemico mi insegua e mi raggiunga,calpesti a terra la mia vitae getti nella polvere il mio onore.
7 Rise up, LORD, in your anger; rise against the fury of my foes. Wake to judge as you have decreed.	7 Sorgi, Signore, nella tua ira,àlzati contro la furia dei miei avversari,svégliati, mio Dio, emetti un giudizio!
8 Have the assembly of the peoples gather about you; sit on your throne high above them,	8 L’assemblea dei popoli ti circonda:ritorna dall’alto a dominarla!
9 O LORD, judge of the nations. Grant me justice, LORD, for I am blameless, free of any guilt.	9 Il Signore giudica i popoli.Giudicami, Signore, secondo la mia giustizia,secondo l’innocenza che è in me.
10 Bring the malice of the wicked to an end; uphold the innocent, O God of justice, who tries hearts and minds.	10 Cessi la cattiveria dei malvagi.Rendi saldo il giusto,tu che scruti mente e cuore, o Dio giusto.
11 A shield before me is God who saves the honest heart.	11 Il mio scudo è in Dio:egli salva i retti di cuore.
12 God is a just judge, who rebukes in anger every day.	12 Dio è giudice giusto,Dio si sdegna ogni giorno.
13 If sinners do not repent, God sharpens his sword, strings and readies the bow,	13 Non torna forse ad affilare la spada,a tendere, a puntare il suo arco?
14 Prepares his deadly shafts, makes arrows blazing thunderbolts.	14 Si prepara strumenti di morte,arroventa le sue frecce.
15 Sinners conceive iniquity; pregnant with mischief, they give birth to failure.	15 Ecco, il malvagio concepisce ingiustizia,è gravido di cattiveria, partorisce menzogna.
16 They open a hole and dig it deep, but fall into the pit they have dug.	16 Egli scava un pozzo profondoe cade nella fossa che ha fatto;
17 Their mischief comes back upon themselves; their violence falls on their own heads.	17 la sua cattiveria ricade sul suo capo,la sua violenza gli piomba sulla testa.
18 I praise the justice of the LORD; I celebrate the name of the LORD Most High.	18 Renderò grazie al Signore per la sua giustiziae canterò il nome di Dio, l’Altissimo.
