¹ A psalm of David. For remembrance.	¹ 'Salmo. Di Davide. In memoria.'
² LORD, punish me no more in your anger; in your wrath do not chastise me!	² Signore, non castigarmi nel tuo sdegno, non punirmi nella tua ira.
³ Your arrows have sunk deep in me; your hand has come down upon me.	³ Le tue frecce mi hanno trafitto, su di me è scesa la tua mano.
⁴ My flesh is afflicted because of your anger; my frame aches because of my sin.	⁴ Per il tuo sdegno non c'è in me nulla di sano, nulla è intatto nelle mie ossa per i miei peccati.
⁵ My iniquities overwhelm me, a burden beyond my strength.	⁵ Le mie iniquità hanno superato il mio capo, come carico pesante mi hanno oppresso.
⁶ Foul and festering are my sores because of my folly.	⁶ Putride e fetide sono le mie piaghe a causa della mia stoltezza.
⁷ I am stooped and deeply bowed; all day I go about mourning.	⁷ Sono curvo e accasciato, triste mi aggiro tutto il giorno.
⁸ My loins burn with fever; my flesh is afflicted.	⁸ Sono torturati i miei fianchi, in me non c'è nulla di sano.
⁹ I am numb and utterly crushed; I wail with anguish of heart.	⁹ Afflitto e sfinito all'estremo, ruggisco per il fremito del mio cuore.
¹⁰ My Lord, my deepest yearning is before you; my groaning is not hidden from you.	¹⁰ Signore, davanti a te ogni mio desiderio e il mio gemito a te non è nascosto.
¹¹ My heart shudders, my strength forsakes me; the very light of my eyes has failed.	¹¹ Palpita il mio cuore, la forza mi abbandona, si spegne la luce dei miei occhi.
¹² Friends and companions shun my pain; my neighbors stand far off.	¹² Amici e compagni si scostano dalle mie piaghe, i miei vicini stanno a distanza.
¹³ Those who seek my life lay snares for me; they seek my misfortune, they speak of ruin; they plot treachery all the day.	¹³ Tende lacci chi attenta alla mia vita, trama insidie chi cerca la mia rovina. e tutto il giorno medita inganni.
¹⁴ But I am like the deaf, hearing nothing, like the dumb, saying nothing,	¹⁴ Io, come un sordo, non ascolto e come un muto non apro la bocca;
¹⁵ Like someone who does not hear, who has no answer ready.	¹⁵ sono come un uomo che non sente e non risponde.
¹⁶ LORD, I wait for you; O Lord, my God, answer me.	¹⁶ In te spero, Signore; tu mi risponderai, Signore Dio mio.
¹⁷ For I fear they will gloat, exult over me if I stumble.	¹⁷ Ho detto: "Di me non godano, contro di me non si vantino quando il mio piede vacilla".
¹⁸ I am very near to falling; my pain is with me always.	¹⁸ Poiché io sto per cadere e ho sempre dinanzi la mia pena.
¹⁹ I acknowledge my guilt and grieve over my sin.	¹⁹ Ecco, confesso la mia colpa, sono in ansia per il mio peccato.
²⁰ But many are my foes without cause, a multitude of enemies without reason,	²⁰ I miei nemici sono vivi e forti, troppi mi odiano senza motivo,
²¹ Repaying me evil for good, harassing me for pursuing good.	²¹ mi pagano il bene col male, mi accusano perché cerco il bene.
²² Forsake me not, O LORD; my God, be not far from me!	²² Non abbandonarmi, Signore, Dio mio, da me non stare lontano;
²³ Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my salvation!	²³ accorri in mio aiuto, Signore, mia salvezza.
