1 A psalm of David. For remembrance.	1 'Salmo. Di Davide. In memoria.'
2 LORD, punish me no more in your anger; in your wrath do not chastise me!	2 Signore, non castigarmi nel tuo sdegno, non punirmi nella tua ira.
3 Your arrows have sunk deep in me; your hand has come down upon me.	3 Le tue frecce mi hanno trafitto, su di me è scesa la tua mano.
4 My flesh is afflicted because of your anger; my frame aches because of my sin.	4 Per il tuo sdegno non c'è in me nulla di sano, nulla è intatto nelle mie ossa per i miei peccati.
5 My iniquities overwhelm me, a burden beyond my strength.	5 Le mie iniquità hanno superato il mio capo, come carico pesante mi hanno oppresso.
6 Foul and festering are my sores because of my folly.	6 Putride e fetide sono le mie piaghe a causa della mia stoltezza.
7 I am stooped and deeply bowed; all day I go about mourning.	7 Sono curvo e accasciato, triste mi aggiro tutto il giorno.
8 My loins burn with fever; my flesh is afflicted.	8 Sono torturati i miei fianchi, in me non c'è nulla di sano.
9 I am numb and utterly crushed; I wail with anguish of heart.	9 Afflitto e sfinito all'estremo, ruggisco per il fremito del mio cuore.
10 My Lord, my deepest yearning is before you; my groaning is not hidden from you.	10 Signore, davanti a te ogni mio desiderio e il mio gemito a te non è nascosto.
11 My heart shudders, my strength forsakes me; the very light of my eyes has failed.	11 Palpita il mio cuore, la forza mi abbandona, si spegne la luce dei miei occhi.
12 Friends and companions shun my pain; my neighbors stand far off.	12 Amici e compagni si scostano dalle mie piaghe, i miei vicini stanno a distanza.
13 Those who seek my life lay snares for me; they seek my misfortune, they speak of ruin; they plot treachery all the day.	13 Tende lacci chi attenta alla mia vita, trama insidie chi cerca la mia rovina. e tutto il giorno medita inganni.
14 But I am like the deaf, hearing nothing, like the dumb, saying nothing,	14 Io, come un sordo, non ascolto e come un muto non apro la bocca;
15 Like someone who does not hear, who has no answer ready.	15 sono come un uomo che non sente e non risponde.
16 LORD, I wait for you; O Lord, my God, answer me.	16 In te spero, Signore; tu mi risponderai, Signore Dio mio.
17 For I fear they will gloat, exult over me if I stumble.	17 Ho detto: "Di me non godano, contro di me non si vantino quando il mio piede vacilla".
18 I am very near to falling; my pain is with me always.	18 Poiché io sto per cadere e ho sempre dinanzi la mia pena.
19 I acknowledge my guilt and grieve over my sin.	19 Ecco, confesso la mia colpa, sono in ansia per il mio peccato.
20 But many are my foes without cause, a multitude of enemies without reason,	20 I miei nemici sono vivi e forti, troppi mi odiano senza motivo,
21 Repaying me evil for good, harassing me for pursuing good.	21 mi pagano il bene col male, mi accusano perché cerco il bene.
22 Forsake me not, O LORD; my God, be not far from me!	22 Non abbandonarmi, Signore, Dio mio, da me non stare lontano;
23 Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my salvation!	23 accorri in mio aiuto, Signore, mia salvezza.
