Psalms 38

1 A psalm of David. For remembrance.	1 מזמור לדוד להזכיר יהוה אל בקצפך תוכיחני ובחמתך תיסרני
2 LORD, punish me no more in your anger; in your wrath do not chastise me!	2 כי חציך נחתו בי ותנחת עלי ידך
3 Your arrows have sunk deep in me; your hand has come down upon me.	3 אין מתם בבשרי מפני זעמך אין שלום בעצמי מפני חטאתי
4 My flesh is afflicted because of your anger; my frame aches because of my sin.	4 כי עונתי עברו ראשי כמשא כבד יכבדו ממני
5 My iniquities overwhelm me, a burden beyond my strength.	5 הבאישו נמקו חבורתי מפני אולתי
6 Foul and festering are my sores because of my folly.	6 נעויתי שחתי עד מאד כל היום קדר הלכתי
7 I am stooped and deeply bowed; all day I go about mourning.	7 כי כסלי מלאו נקלה ואין מתם בבשרי
8 My loins burn with fever; my flesh is afflicted.	8 נפוגותי ונדכיתי עד מאד שאגתי מנהמת לבי
9 I am numb and utterly crushed; I wail with anguish of heart.	9 אדני נגדך כל תאותי ואנחתי ממך לא נסתרה
10 My Lord, my deepest yearning is before you; my groaning is not hidden from you.	10 לבי סחרחר עזבני כחי ואור עיני גם הם אין אתי
11 My heart shudders, my strength forsakes me; the very light of my eyes has failed.	11 אהבי ורעי מנגד נגעי יעמדו וקרובי מרחק עמדו
12 Friends and companions shun my pain; my neighbors stand far off.	12 וינקשו מבקשי נפשי ודרשי רעתי דברו הוות ומרמות כל היום יהגו
13 Those who seek my life lay snares for me; they seek my misfortune, they speak of ruin; they plot treachery all the day.	13 ואני כחרש לא אשמע וכאלם לא יפתח פיו
14 But I am like the deaf, hearing nothing, like the dumb, saying nothing,	14 ואהי כאיש אשר לא שמע ואין בפיו תוכחות
15 Like someone who does not hear, who has no answer ready.	15 כי לך יהוה הוחלתי אתה תענה אדני אלהי
16 LORD, I wait for you; O Lord, my God, answer me.	16 כי אמרתי פן ישמחו לי במוט רגלי עלי הגדילו
17 For I fear they will gloat, exult over me if I stumble.	17 כי אני לצלע נכון ומכאובי נגדי תמיד
18 I am very near to falling; my pain is with me always.	18 כי עוני אגיד אדאג מחטאתי
19 I acknowledge my guilt and grieve over my sin.	19 ואיבי חיים עצמו ורבו שנאי שקר
20 But many are my foes without cause, a multitude of enemies without reason,	20 ומשלמי רעה תחת טובה ישטנוני תחת רדופי טוב
21 Repaying me evil for good, harassing me for pursuing good.	21 אל תעזבני יהוה אלהי אל תרחק ממני
22 Forsake me not, O LORD; my God, be not far from me!	22 חושה לעזרתי אדני תשועתי
23 Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my salvation!
