1 A psalm of David. For remembrance.	1 Salmo. Di Davide. Per fare memoria.
2 LORD, punish me no more in your anger; in your wrath do not chastise me!	2 Signore, non punirmi nella tua collera,non castigarmi nel tuo furore.
3 Your arrows have sunk deep in me; your hand has come down upon me.	3 Le tue frecce mi hanno trafitto,la tua mano mi schiaccia.
4 My flesh is afflicted because of your anger; my frame aches because of my sin.	4 Per il tuo sdegno, nella mia carne non c’è nulla di sano,nulla è intatto nelle mie ossa per il mio peccato.
5 My iniquities overwhelm me, a burden beyond my strength.	5 Le mie colpe hanno superato il mio capo,sono un carico per me troppo pesante.
6 Foul and festering are my sores because of my folly.	6 Fetide e purulente sono le mie piaghea causa della mia stoltezza.
7 I am stooped and deeply bowed; all day I go about mourning.	7 Sono tutto curvo e accasciato,triste mi aggiro tutto il giorno.
8 My loins burn with fever; my flesh is afflicted.	8 Sono tutti infiammati i miei fianchi,nella mia carne non c’è più nulla di sano.
9 I am numb and utterly crushed; I wail with anguish of heart.	9 Sfinito e avvilito all’estremo,ruggisco per il fremito del mio cuore.
10 My Lord, my deepest yearning is before you; my groaning is not hidden from you.	10 Signore, è davanti a te ogni mio desiderioe il mio gemito non ti è nascosto.
11 My heart shudders, my strength forsakes me; the very light of my eyes has failed.	11 Palpita il mio cuore, le forze mi abbandonano,non mi resta neppure la luce degli occhi.
12 Friends and companions shun my pain; my neighbors stand far off.	12 I miei amici e i miei compagnisi scostano dalle mie piaghe,i miei vicini stanno a distanza.
13 Those who seek my life lay snares for me; they seek my misfortune, they speak of ruin; they plot treachery all the day.	13 Tendono agguati quelli che attentano alla mia vita,quelli che cercano la mia rovina tramano insidiee tutto il giorno studiano inganni.
14 But I am like the deaf, hearing nothing, like the dumb, saying nothing,	14 Io come un sordo non ascoltoe come un muto non apro la bocca;
15 Like someone who does not hear, who has no answer ready.	15 sono come un uomo che non sentee non vuole rispondere.
16 LORD, I wait for you; O Lord, my God, answer me.	16 Perché io attendo te, Signore;tu risponderai, Signore, mio Dio.
17 For I fear they will gloat, exult over me if I stumble.	17 Avevo detto: «Non ridano di me!Quando il mio piede vacilla,non si facciano grandi su di me!».
18 I am very near to falling; my pain is with me always.	18 Ecco, io sto per caderee ho sempre dinanzi la mia pena.
19 I acknowledge my guilt and grieve over my sin.	19 Ecco, io confesso la mia colpa,sono in ansia per il mio peccato.
20 But many are my foes without cause, a multitude of enemies without reason,	20 I miei nemici sono vivi e forti,troppi mi odiano senza motivo:
21 Repaying me evil for good, harassing me for pursuing good.	21 mi rendono male per bene,mi accusano perché cerco il bene.
22 Forsake me not, O LORD; my God, be not far from me!	22 Non abbandonarmi, Signore,Dio mio, da me non stare lontano;
23 Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my salvation!	23 vieni presto in mio aiuto,Signore, mia salvezza.
