NEW AMERICAN BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
Hallelujah! How good to celebrate our God in song; how sweet to give fitting praise.1 Al eluia! Praise Yahweh -- it is good to sing psalms to our God -- how pleasant to praise him.
The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem, gathers the dispersed of Israel,2 Yahweh, Builder of Jerusalem! He gathers together the exiles of Israel,
Heals the brokenhearted, binds up their wounds,3 healing the broken-hearted and binding up their wounds;
Numbers all the stars, calls each of them by name.4 he counts out the number of the stars, and gives each one of them a name.
Great is our Lord, vast in power, with wisdom beyond measure.5 Our Lord is great, al -powerful, his wisdom beyond al telling.
The LORD sustains the poor, but casts the wicked to the ground.6 Yahweh sustains the poor, and humbles the wicked to the ground.
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; with the lyre celebrate our God,7 Sing to Yahweh in thanksgiving, play the harp for our God.
Who covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, makes grass sprout on the mountains,8 He veils the sky with clouds, and provides the earth with rain, makes grass grow on the hills andplants for people to use,
Who gives animals their food and ravens what they cry for.9 gives fodder to cattle and to young ravens when they cry.
God takes no delight in the strength of horses, no pleasure in the runner's stride.10 He takes no delight in the power of horses, no pleasure in human sturdiness;
Rather the LORD takes pleasure in the devout, those who await his faithful care.11 his pleasure is in those who fear him, in those who hope in his faithful love.
Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem; Zion, offer praise to your God,12 Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem, Zion, praise your God.
Who has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessed your children within you,13 For he gives strength to the bars of your gates, he blesses your children within you,
Brought peace to your borders, and filled you with finest wheat.14 he maintains the peace of your frontiers, gives you your fil of finest wheat.
The LORD sends a command to earth; his word runs swiftly!15 He sends his word to the earth, his command runs quickly,
Thus snow is spread like wool, frost is scattered like ash,16 he spreads the snow like flax, strews hoarfrost like ashes,
Hail is dispersed like crumbs; before such cold the waters freeze.17 he sends ice-crystals like breadcrumbs, and who can withstand that cold?
Again he sends his word and they melt; the wind is unleashed and the waters flow.18 When he sends his word it thaws them, when he makes his wind blow, the waters are unstopped.
The LORD also proclaims his word to Jacob, decrees and laws to Israel.19 He reveals his word to Jacob, his statutes and judgements to Israel.
God has not done this for other nations; of such laws they know nothing. Hallelujah!20 For no other nation has he done this, no other has known his judgements.
