1 These are the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, to whom sons were born after the flood.	1 Voici les générations des fils de Sem, Cham et Japheth, enfants de Noé; et ces fils naquirent d'eux après le déluge.
2 The descendants of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.	2 Fils de Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madaï, Javan, Thubal, Mosoch et Thiras.
3 The descendants of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.	3 Fils de Gomer: Ascénez, Riphath et Thogorma.
4 The descendants of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim, and the Rodanim.	4 Fils de Javan: Elisa, Tharsis, Céthim et Dodanim.
5 These are the descendants of Japheth, and from them sprang the maritime nations, in their respective lands--each with its own language--by their clans within their nations.	5 C'est par eux que furent peuplées les îles des nations, selon la langue de chacun, selon leurs familles et leurs peuples.
6 The descendants of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.	6 Fils de Cham: Chus, Mesraïm, Phuth et Chanaan.
7 The descendants of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.	7 Fils de Chus: Saba, Hévila, Sabatha, Regma et Sabatacha. Fils de Regma: Saba et Dadan.
8 Cush became the father of Nimrod, who was the first potentate on earth.	8 Or Chus engendra Nemrod, qui commença à être puissant sur la terre.
9 He was a mighty hunter by the grace of the LORD; hence the saying, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter by the grace of the LORD."	9 Il fut un violent chasseur devant le Seigneur. De là est venu ce proverbe: Violent chasseur devant le Seigneur, comme Nemrod.
10 The chief cities of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, and Accad, all of them in the land of Shinar.	10 Le début de son royaume fut Babylone, et Arach, et Achad, et Chalanné dans la terre de Sennaar.
11 From that land he went forth to Asshur, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, and Calah,	11 De ce même pays il alla en Assyrie, et il bâtit Ninive et les rues de cette ville, et Chalé.
12 as well as Resen, between Nineveh and Calah, the latter being the principal city.	12 Il bâtit aussi la grande ville de Résen, entre Ninive et Chalé.
13 Mizraim became the father of the Ludim, the Anamim, the Lehabim, the Naphtuhim,	13 Et Mesraïm engendra Ludim et Anamim, Laabim et Nephthuim,
14 the Pathrusim, the Casluhim, and the Caphtorim from whom the Philistines sprang.	14 Phétrusim et Chasluim, d'où sont sortis les Philistins, et les Caphtorim.
15 Canaan became the father of Sidon, his first-born, and of Heth;	15 Chanaan engendra Sidon, qui fut son fils aîné, l'Héthéen,
16 also of the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,	16 Le Jébuséen, l'Amorrhéen, le Gergéséen;
17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,	17 L'Hévéen, l'Aracéen, le Sinéen,
18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward, the clans of the Canaanites spread out,	18 L'Aradien, le Samaréen et l'Amathéen; et c'est par eux que les peuples des Chananéens se sont répandus depuis en divers endroits.
19 so that the Canaanite borders extended from Sidon all the way to Gerar, near Gaza, and all the way to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, near Lasha.	19 Les limites de Chanaan furent depuis Sidon, en venant à Gérara, jusqu'à Gaza, et du côté de Sodome, de Gomorrhe, d'Adama, et de Séboïm, jusqu'à Lésa.
20 These are the descendants of Ham, according to their clans and languages, by their lands and nations.	20 Ce sont là les fils de Cham selon leurs alliances, leurs langues, leurs familles, leurs pays et leurs nations.
21 To Shem also, Japheth's oldest brother and the ancestor of all the children of Eber, sons were born.	21 Il naquit aussi des fils de Sem, qui fut le père de tous les enfants d'Héber, et le frère aîné de Japheth.
22 The descendants of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.	22 Fils de Sem: Elam, Assur, Arphaxad, Lud et Aram.
23 The descendants of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.	23 Fils d'Aram: Us, Hul, Géther et Mès.
24 Arpachshad became the father of Shelah, and Shelah became the father of Eber.	24 Or Arphaxad engendra Salé, dont est né Héber.
25 To Eber two sons were born: the name of the first was Peleg, for in his time the world was divided; and the name of his brother was Joktan.	25 Héber eut deux fils: l'un s'appela Phaleg, parce que de son temps la terre fut divisée; et son frère s'appelait Jectan.
26 Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,	26 Jectan engendra Elmodad, Saleph, Asarmoth et Jaré,
27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,	27 Aduram, Uzal, Décla,
28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,	28 Ebal, Abimaël, Saba,
29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were descendants of Joktan.	29 Ophir, Hévila et Jobab. Tous ceux-là furent enfants de Jectan.
30 Their settlements extended all the way to Sephar, the eastern hill country.	30 Le pays où ils demeurèrent s'étendait depuis la sortie de Messa jusqu'à Séphar, qui est une montagne du côté de l'orient.
31 These are the descendants of Shem, according to their clans and languages by their lands and nations.	31 Ce sont les fils de Sem selon leurs familles, leurs langues, leurs régions et leurs peuples.
32 These are the groupings of Noah's sons, according to their origins and by their nations. From these the other nations of the earth branched out after the flood.	32 Ce sont là les familles des enfants de Noé, selon leurs peuples et leurs nations. Et c'est de ces familles que se sont formés tous les peuples de la terre après le déluge.
