Psalms 91

¹ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.	¹ Wer da wohnt im Schirm des Höchstenund im Schatten des Allmächtigen weilt,
² I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.	² der spricht zum HERRN: »Meine Zuflucht und meine Burg,mein Gott, auf den ich vertraue!«
³ Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.	³ Denn er ist’s, der dich rettet aus den Voglers Schlinge,von der unheilvollen Pest.
⁴ He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.	⁴ Mit seinen Fittichen deckt er dich,und unter seinen Flügeln bist du geborgen,Schild und Panzer ist seine Treue.
⁵ Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;	⁵ Du brauchst dich nicht zu fürchten vor nächtlichem Schrecken,vor dem Pfeil, der bei Tage daherfliegt,
⁶ Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.	⁶ nicht vor der Pest, die im Finstern schleicht,vor der Seuche, die mittags wütet.
⁷ A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.	⁷ Ob tausend dir zur Seite fallen,zehntausend zu deiner Rechten:an dich kommt’s nicht heran;
⁸ Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.	⁸ nein, lediglich mit eignen Augen wirst du’s schauenund zusehn, wie den Frevlern vergolten wird.
⁹ Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;	⁹ Ja, du, o HERR, bist meine Zuflucht:den Höchsten hast du zum Schutz dir erwählt.
¹⁰ There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.	¹⁰ Kein Übel wird dir begegnen,kein Unheilsschlag deinem Zelte nahn;
¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.	¹¹ denn seine Engel wird er für dich entbieten,daß sie dich behüten auf all deinen Wegen;
¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.	¹² auf den Armen werden sie dich tragen,damit dein Fuß nicht stoße an einen Stein (vgl. Mt 4,6);
¹³ Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.	¹³ über Löwen und Ottern wirst du schreiten (vgl. Lk 10,19),wirst junge Löwen und Schlangen zertreten.
¹⁴ Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.	¹⁴ »Weil er fest an mir hängt, so will ich ihn retten,will ihn schützen, denn er kennt meinen Namen.
¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.	¹⁵ Ruft er mich an, so will ich ihn erhören;ich steh’ ihm bei in der Not,will frei ihn machen und geehrt.
¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.	¹⁶ Mit langem Leben will ich ihn sättigenund lasse ihn schauen mein Heil.«
