Psalms 91

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.	1 Toi qui demeures au refuge du Très-Haut et qui te loges à l’ombre du Puissant,
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.	2 dis au Seigneur: “Tu es mon abri, mon rempart, mon Dieu en qui je me confie!”
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.	3 Il te fera échapper au filet du chasseur, il te protégera des démons du malheur.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.	4 Il te couvrira de son plumage et tu te serreras au creux de son aile.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;	5 Tu ne craindras pas, de nuit, la terreur, ni de jour, la flèche qui vole,
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.	6 ni le fléau qui s’avance dans le noir, ni la peste qui frappe en plein midi.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.	7 Mille, peut-être, tomberont près de toi, dix mille, rien qu’à ta droite, mais tu seras hors d’atteinte, 4c sa fidélité sera ton mur, ton bouclier.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.	8 Ouvre les yeux et regarde: tu verras ce qu’on rend aux méchants!
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;	9 Mais toi, tu as le Seigneur pour refuge, tu as fait du Très-Haut ton asile.
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.	10 Le mal ne t’atteindra pas, la plaie ne frappera pas jusqu’à toi.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.	11 Car il donnera un ordre à ses anges, pour qu’ils t’escortent sur tous tes chemins.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.	12 Dans leurs mains ils te porteront pour que ton pied ne bute pas sur la pierre.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.	13 Tu passeras sur les fauves et les serpents, tu piétineras le jeune lion et le dragon.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.	14 “Puisqu’il s’est lié à moi, je le délivrerai, je veux le protéger, car il a connu mon Nom.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.	15 Qu’il m’appelle, je lui répondrai, je serai avec lui dans l’angoisse; je le sauverai, je lui donnerai la gloire.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.	16 J’allongerai ses jours autant qu’il le désire, et je ferai qu’il voie mon salut.”
