KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.1 You who live in the secret place of Elyon, spend your nights in the shelter of Shaddai,
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.2 saying to Yahweh, 'My refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust!'
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.3 He rescues you from the snare of the fowler set on destruction;
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.4 he covers you with his pinions, you find shelter under his wings. His constancy is shield andprotection.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;5 You need not fear the terrors of night, the arrow that flies in the daytime,
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.6 the plague that stalks in the darkness, the scourge that wreaks havoc at high noon.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.7 Though a thousand fal at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, you yourself wil remainunscathed.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.8 You have only to keep your eyes open to see how the wicked are repaid,
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;9 you who say, 'Yahweh my refuge!' and make Elyon your fortress.
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.10 No disaster can overtake you, no plague come near your tent;
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.11 he has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.12 They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.13 You wil walk upon wild beast and adder, you wil trample young lions and snakes.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.14 'Since he clings to me I rescue him, I raise him high, since he acknowledges my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.15 He cal s to me and I answer him: in distress I am at his side, I rescue him and bring him honour.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.16 I shal satisfy him with long life, and grant him to see my salvation.'
