KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.1 You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.2 Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust."
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.3 God will rescue you from the fowler's snare, from the destroying plague,
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.4 Will shelter you with pinions, spread wings that you may take refuge; God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;5 You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day,
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.6 Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.7 Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.8 You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;9 You have the LORD for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold.
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.10 No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.11 For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.12 With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.13 You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.14 Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.15 All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.16 With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.
