1 Não pratiques o mal, e o mal não te iludirá.	1 Do not choose to do evil, and evil will not take hold of you.
2 Afasta-te da injustiça, e a injustiça se afastará de ti.	2 Withdraw from the iniquitous, and evil will withdraw from you.
3 Meu filho, não semeies o mal nos sulcos da injustiça, e dele não recolherás o sétuplo.	3 Son, do not sow evil in the furrows of injustice, and you will not reap them sevenfold.
4 Não peças ao Senhor o encargo de guiar outrem, nem ao rei um lugar de destaque.	4 Do not seek a role of leadership from the Lord, and do not seek a seat of honor from the king.
5 Não te justifiques perante Deus, pois ele conhece o fundo dos corações; não pretendas parecer sábio diante	5 You should not justify yourself before God, for he is the Knower of hearts. And by no means should you wish to seem wise before the king.
6 Não procures tornar-te juiz, se não fores bastante forte para destruir a iniqüidade, para que não aconteça que temas perante um homem poderoso, e te exponhas a pecar contra a eqüidade.	6 Do not seek to become a judge, unless you have sufficient strength to shatter iniquities. Otherwise, you might fear the face of the powerful, and so establish a scandal within your integrity.
7 Não ofendas a população inteira de uma cidade, não te lances em meio da multidão.	7 You should not sin against the multitude of a city, nor should you cast yourself against the people.
8 Não acrescentes um segundo pecado ao primeiro, pois mesmo por causa de um só não ficarás impune.	8 And you should not bind two sins together. For even in one sin, you will not go unpunished.
9 Não te deixes levar ao desânimo.	9 Do not be cowardly in your soul.
10 Não descuides de orar nem de dar esmola.	10 You should not be unwilling to beg, nor to give alms.
11 Não digas: Deus há de considerar a quantidade de meus dons; quando os oferecer ao Deus Altíssimo, ele os há de aceitar.	11 You should not say: “God will look with favor on the multitude of my gifts, and when I make an offering to the most high God, he will accept my gift.”
12 Não zombes de um homem que está na aflição, pois há alguém que humilha e exalta: Deus que tudo vê.	12 You should not ridicule a man in bitterness of soul. For there is One who humbles and who exalts: the all-seeing God.
13 Não inventes mentira contra teu irmão, não inventes nenhuma mentira contra teu amigo.	13 Do not love a lie against your brother, nor should you act the same toward your friend.
14 Cuida-te para não dizeres mentira alguma, pois o costume de mentir é coisa má.	14 Do not be willing to devise a lie of any kind. For the practice of lying is not good.
15 Na companhia dos anciãos, não sejas falador, não multipliques as palavras em tua oração.	15 Do not choose to be verbose among a multitude of elders, and you should not repeat the words of your prayers.
16 Não abomines as tarefas penosas, nem o labor da terra, que foi criado pelo Altíssimo.	16 You should not hate laborious works, nor the rustic life created by the Most High.
17 Não te coloques no número das pessoas corrompidas,	17 You should not consider yourself to be among the multitude of the undisciplined.
18 lembra-te de que a cólera não tarda.	18 Remember wrath. For it will not be delayed.
19 Humilha profundamente o teu espírito, pois o fogo e o verme são o castigo da carne do ímpio.	19 Humble your spirit greatly. For the retribution against the flesh of the impious is with fire and worms.
20 Não pratiques o mal contra um amigo que demora em te pagar, não desprezes por causa do ouro um irmão bem-amado.	20 Do not betray your friend for the sake of money, and you should not spurn your dearest brother for the sake of gold.
21 Não te afastes da mulher sensata e virtuosa que te foi concedida no temor do Senhor; pois a graça de sua modéstia vale mais do que o ouro.	21 Do not choose to depart from a good and understanding wife, whom you have been allotted in the fear of the Lord. For the grace of her modesty is above gold.
22 Não maltrates um escravo que trabalha pontualmente, nem o operário que te é devotado.	22 You should not harm the servant whose works are honest, nor the hired hand who entrusts his life to you.
23 Que o escravo sensato te seja tão caro quanto a tua própria vida! Não o prives da liberdade, nem o abandones na indigência.	23 Let an understanding servant be loved by you like your own soul. You should not cheat him out of freedom, nor abandon him to destitution.
24 Tens rebanhos? Cuida deles; se te forem úteis, guarda-os em tua casa.	24 Are cattle yours? Tend to them. And if they are useful, let them remain with you.
25 Tens filhos? Educa-os, e curva-os à obediência desde a infância.	25 Are sons yours? Instruct them, and bow them down from their childhood.
26 Tens filhas? Vela pela integridade de seus corpos, não lhes mostres um rosto por demais jovial.	26 Are daughters yours? Watch over their bodies. And you should not display a light-hearted attitude toward them.
27 Casa tua filha, e terás feito um grande negócio; dá-a a um homem sensato.	27 Give your daughter in marriage, and give her to an understanding man, and you will be doing a great work.
28 Se tiveres mulher conforme teu coração, não a repudies, e não confies na que é odiosa.	28 If a wife in accord with your soul is yours, you should not reject her. But do not entrust yourself to her who is hateful.
29 Honra teu pai de todo o coração, não esqueças os gemidos de tua mãe;	29 With your whole heart, honor your father. And you should not forget the complaints of your mother.
30 lembra-te de que sem eles não terias nascido, e faze por eles o que fizeram por ti.	30 Remember that you would not have been born except through them. And so, give back to them as they also have done for you.
31 Teme a Deus com toda a tua alma, tem um profundo respeito pelos seus sacerdotes.	31 With all your soul, fear the Lord, and consider his priests to be holy.
32 Ama com todas as tuas forças aquele que te criou; não abandones os seus ministros.	32 With all your strength, love him who made you, and you should not abandon his ministers.
33 Honra a Deus com toda a tua alma, respeita os sacerdotes; (nos sacrifícios) oferece-lhes as espáduas.	33 Honor God from your whole soul, and confer honor on the priests, and continue to purify yourself with your strength.
34 Dá-lhes, como te foi prescrito, a parte da primícias e das vítimas expiatórias; purifica-te de tuas omissões com pequenas (oferendas);	34 Give them their portion, just as it has been commanded of you, from the first-fruits and from the purifications. And for your ignorant offenses, purify yourself with a smaller offering.
35 oferece ao Senhor os dons das espáduas, os sacrifícios de santificação e as primícias das coisas santas.	35 You should offer to the Lord the gift of your strength, and the sacrifice of sanctification, and the first-fruits of what is holy.
36 Estende a mão para o pobre, a fim de que sejam perfeitos teu sacrifício e tua oferenda.	36 And reach out your hand to the poor, so that your atonement and your blessing may be perfected.
37 Dá de boa vontade a todos os vivos, não recuses esse benefício a um morto.	37 A gift has grace in the sight of all the living, but you should not prohibit grace for the dead.
38 Não deixes de consolar os que choram, aproxima-te dos que estão aflitos.	38 You should not fail to console those who are weeping, nor to walk with those who are mourning.
39 Não tenhas preguiça de visitar um doente, pois é assim que te firmarás na caridade.	39 Do not let yourself be slow to visit the sick. For in this way, you will be confirmed in love.
40 Em tudo o que fizeres, lembra-te de teu fim, e jamais pecarás.	40 In all your works, remember your very end, and so you will not sin, unto eternity.
