1 Et egressa est sors secunda filiorum Simeon per cognationes suas : fuitque hæreditas1 The second lot to come out was for Simeon, for the tribe of the sons of Simeon, by clans; their heritagewas within the heritage of the sons of Judah.
2 eorum in medio possessionis filiorum Juda : Bersabee et Sabee et Molada2 As heritage, they received:
3 et Hasersual, Bala et Asem3 Beersheba, Shema, Moladah,
4 et Eltholad, Bethul et Harma4 Hazar-Shual, Balah, Ezem, Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah,
5 et Siceleg et Bethmarchaboth et Hasersusa5 Ziklag, Beth-ha-Marcaboth, Hazar-Susa,
6 et Bethlebaoth et Sarohen : civitates tredecim, et villæ earum.6 Beth-Lebaoth and Sharuhen: thirteen towns and their vil ages.
7 Ain et Remmon et Athar et Asan : civitates quatuor, et villæ earum :7 Ain, Rimmon, Ether and Ashan: four towns and their villages,
8 omnes viculi per circuitum urbium istarum usque ad Baalath Beer Ramath contra australem plagam. Hæc est hæreditas filiorum Simeon juxta cognationes suas,8 with al the vil ages situated near these towns as far as Baalath-Beer and Ramah of the Negeb. Suchwas the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, by clans.
9 in possessione et funiculo filiorum Juda : quia major erat, et idcirco filii Simeon possederunt in medio hæreditatis eorum.
9 The heritage of the sons of Simeon was taken out of the portion of the sons of Judah, because theshare of the sons of Judah was too large for them; hence, the sons of Simeon received their heritage within theheritage of the sons of Judah.
10 Ceciditque sors tertia filiorum Zabulon per cognationes suas : factus est terminus possessionis eorum usque Sarid.10 The third lot fel to the sons of Zebulun, by clans; the territory of their heritage stretched as far asSadud;
11 Ascenditque de mari et Merala, et pervenit in Debbaseth, usque ad torrentem qui est contra Jeconam.11 their frontier climbed westwards to Maraalah, touching Dabbesheth and the torrent facing Jokneam.
12 Et revertitur de Sared contra orientem in fines Ceseleththabor : et egreditur ad Dabereth, ascenditque contra Japhie.12 From Sadud, the frontier turned east, towards the rising sun, as far as the frontier of Chisloth-Tabor; itcame out at Dobrath and went up to Japhia.
13 Et inde pertransit usque ad orientalem plagam Gethepher et Thacasin : et egreditur in Remmon, Amthar et Noa.13 Thence, it went east, towards the sunrise, to Gath-Hepher and Ittah-Kazin, came out at Rimmon andturned towards Neah.
14 Et circuit ad aquilonem Hanathon : suntque egressus ejus vallis Jephthaël,14 The northern frontier turned towards Hannathon and came to an end in the Val ey of Iphtah-El;
15 et Cateth et Naalol et Semeron et Jerala et Bethlehem : civitates duodecim, et villæ earum.15 with Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Iralah and Bethlehem: twelve towns with their villages.
16 Hæc est hæreditas tribus filiorum Zabulon per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
16 Such was the heritage of the sons of Zebulun, by clans: these towns with their vil ages.
17 Issachar egressa est sors quarta per cognationes suas :17 The fourth lot came out for Issachar, for the sons of Issachar, by clans.
18 fuitque ejus hæreditas Jezraël et Casaloth et Sunem18 Their territory stretched towards Jezreel and included Chesul oth, Shunem,
19 et Hapharaim et Seon, et Anaharath19 Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
20 et Rabboth et Cesion, Abes,20 Dobrath, Kishion, Ebez,
21 et Rameth, et Engannim, et Enhadda et Bethpheses.21 Remeth, En-Gannim, En-Haddah and Beth-Pazzez.
22 Et pervenit terminus ejus usque Thabor et Sehesima et Bethsames, eruntque exitus ejus Jordanis : civitates sedecim, et villæ earum.22 Their frontier touched Tabor, Shahazimah and Beth-Shemesh, and the frontier came to an end at theJordan: sixteen towns with their vil ages.
23 Hæc est possessio filiorum Issachar per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
23 Such was the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, by clans: the towns and their vil ages.
24 Ceciditque sors quinta tribui filiorum Aser per cognationes suas :24 The fifth lot came out for the tribe of the sons of Asher, by clans.
25 fuitque terminus eorum Halcath et Chali et Beten et Axaph25 Their territory included Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph,
26 et Elmelech et Amaad et Messal : et pervenit usque ad Carmelum maris et Sihor et Labanath,26 Alammelech, Amad and Mishal.
27 ac revertitur contra orientem Bethdagon : et pertransit usque Zabulon et vallem Jephthaël contra aquilonem in Bethemec et Nehiel. Egrediturque ad lævam Cabul,27 On the west, it touched Carmel and the course of the Libnath. On the side of the rising sun, it went asfar as Beth-Dagon, touched Zebulun, the Val ey of Iphtah-El on the north side, Beth-ha-Emek and Neiel, comingout with Cabul on the left,
28 et Abran et Rohob et Hamon et Cana, usque ad Sidonem magnam.28 with Abdon, Rehob, Hammon and Kanah as far as Sidon the Great. The frontier then turned towardsRamah, as far as the fortress-town of Tyre;
29 Revertiturque in Horma usque ad civitatem munitissimam Tyrum, et usque Hosa : eruntque exitus ejus in mare de funiculo Achziba :29 the frontier then went to Hosah and reached as far as the sea at Mahalab and Achzib,
30 et Amma et Aphec et Rohob : civitates viginti duæ, et villæ earum.30 with Acco, Aphek and Rehob: twenty-two towns with their vil ages.
31 Hæc est possessio filiorum Aser per cognationes suas, urbesque et viculi earum.
31 Such was the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Asher, by clans; these towns and their vil ages.
32 Filiorum Nephthali sexta sors cecidit per familias suas :32 To the sons of Naphtali fel the sixth portion, to the sons of Naphtali, by clans.
33 et cœpit terminus de Heleph et Elon in Saananim, et Adami, quæ est Neceb, et Jebnaël usque Lecum : et egressus eorum usque ad Jordanem :33 Their frontier went from Heleph and the Oak of Zanaannim, with Adami-ha-Negeb and Jabneel, as faras Lakkum, and ended at the Jordan.
34 revertiturque terminus contra occidentem in Azanotthabor, atque inde egreditur in Hucuca, et pertransit in Zabulon contra meridiem, et in Aser contra occidentem, et in Juda ad Jordanem contra ortum solis :34 The westward boundary ran to Aznoth-Tabor and thence came out at Hukkok, marching with Zebulunin the south, Asher in the west and the Jordan in the east.
35 civitates munitissimæ, Assedim, Ser, et Emath, et Reccath et Cenereth,35 The fortified towns were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth,
36 et Edema et Arama, Asor36 Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,
37 et Cedes et Edrai, Enhasor,37 Kedesh, Edrei, En-Hazor,
38 et Jeron et Magdalel, Horem et Bethanath et Bethsames : civitates decem et novem, et villæ earum.38 Jiron, Migdal-El, Horem, Beth-Anath and Beth-Shemesh: nineteen towns and their vil ages.
39 Hæc est possessio tribus filiorum Nephthali per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
39 Such was the heritage of the sons of Naphtali, by clans: the towns and their vil ages.
40 Tribui filiorum Dan per familias suas egressa est sors septima :40 To the tribe of the sons of Dan, by clans, fel the seventh portion.
41 et fuit terminus possessionis ejus Sara et Esthaol, et Hirsemes, id est, civitas solis.41 The territory of their heritage comprised: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-Shemesh,
42 Selebin et Ajalon et Jethela,42 Shaalbim, Aijalon, Silatha,
43 Elon et Themna et Acron,43 Elon, Timnah, Ekron,
44 Elthece, Gebbethon et Balaath,44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon,
45 et Jud et Bane et Barach et Gethremmon :45 Baalath, Azor, Bene-Berak and Gath-Rimmon;
46 et Mejarcon et Arecon, cum termino qui respicit Joppen,46 and, by the sea, Jerakon with the territory facing Jaffa.
47 et ipso fine concluditur. Ascenderuntque filii Dan, et pugnaverunt contra Lesem, ceperuntque eam : et percusserunt eam in ore gladii, et possederunt, et habitaverunt in ea, vocantes nomen ejus Lesem Dan, ex nomine Dan patris sui.47 The territory of the sons of Dan eluded them, however, and the sons of Dan consequently went upand attacked Leshem, captured it and put it to the sword. Having gained possession of it, they settled there andcal ed Leshem, Dan, after Dan their ancestor.

49 Cumque complesset sorte dividere terram singulis per tribus suas, dederunt filii Israël possessionem Josue filio Nun in medio sui,49 Having finished dividing the country, frontier by frontier, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun aheritage among themselves;
50 juxta præceptum Domini, urbem quam postulavit Thamnath Saraa in monte Ephraim : et ædificavit civitatem, habitavitque in ea.50 at Yahweh's command, they gave him the town which he had asked for, Timnath-Serah in thehighlands of Ephraim; he rebuilt the town and settled there.
51 Hæ sunt possessiones, quas sorte diviserunt Eleazar sacerdos, et Josue filius Nun, et principes familiarum ac tribuum filiorum Israël in Silo, coram Domino ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii : partitique sunt terram.51 Such are the heritages which the priest Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of each familyapportioned by lot between the tribes of Israel at Shiloh, in Yahweh's presence, at the door of the Tent ofMeeting; and thus the apportioning of the country was completed.
