1 Et factum est, ut post mortem Moysi servi Domini loqueretur Dominus ad Iosue filium Nun ministrum Moysi et diceret ei:	1 After Moses, the servant of the LORD, had died, the LORD said to Moses' aide Joshua, son of Nun:
2 “ Moyses servus meus mortuus est; nunc igitur surge et transi Iordanem istum, tu et omnis populus iste, in terram, quam ego dabo filiis Israel.	2 "My servant Moses is dead. So prepare to cross the Jordan here, with all the people into the land I will give the Israelites.
3 Omnem locum, quem calcaverit vestigium pedis vestri, vobis tradidi, sicut locutus sum Moysi.	3 As I promised Moses, I will deliver to you every place where you set foot.
4 A deserto et Libano isto usque ad fluvium magnum Euphraten, omnis terra Hetthaeorum usque ad mare Magnum contra solis occasum erit terminus vester.	4 Your domain is to be all the land of the Hittites, from the desert and from Lebanon east to the great river Euphrates and west to the Great Sea.
5 Nullus tibi poterit resistere cunctis diebus vitae tuae: sicut fui cum Moyse, ero et tecum; non dimittam nec derelinquam te.	5 No one can withstand you while you live. I will be with you as I was with Moses: I will not leave you nor forsake you.
6 Confortare et esto robustus; tu enim sorte divides populo huic terram, pro qua iuravi patribus suis, ut traderem eam illis.	6 Be firm and steadfast, so that you may give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers I would give them.
7 Confortare tantum et esto robustus valde, ut custodias et facias iuxta omnem legem, quam praecepit tibi Moyses servus meus. Ne declines ab ea ad dexteram vel ad sinistram, ut prospereris in omnibus, ad quaecumque perrexeris.	7 Above all, be firm and steadfast, taking care to observe the entire law which my servant Moses enjoined on you. Do not swerve from it either to the right or to the left, that you may succeed wherever you go.
8 Non recedat hoc volumen legis de ore tuo, sed meditaberis in eo diebus ac noctibus, ut custodias et facias iuxta omnia, quae scripta sunt in eo: tunc optime diriges viam tuam et tunc prosperaberis.	8 Keep this book of the law on your lips. Recite it by day and by night, that you may observe carefully all that is written in it; then you will successfully attain your goal.
9 Nonne praecepi tibi: Confortare et esto robustus, noli metuere et noli timere, quoniam tecum est Dominus Deus tuus in omnibus, ad quaecumque perrexeris?”.	9 I command you: be firm and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go."
10 Praecepitque Iosue praefectis populi dicens: “ Transite per medium castrorum et imperate populo ac dicite:	10 So Joshua commanded the officers of the people:
11 Praeparate vobis cibaria, quoniam post diem tertium transibitis Iordanem hunc et intrabitis ad possidendam terram, quam Dominus Deus vester daturus est vobis ”.	11 "Go through the camp and instruct the people, 'Prepare your provisions, for three days from now you shall cross the Jordan here, to march in and take possession of the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you.'"
12 Rubenitis quoque et Gaditis et dimidiae tribui Manasse ait:	12 Joshua reminded the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh:
13 “ Mementote sermonis, quem praecepit vobis Moyses famulus Domini dicens: “Dominus Deus vester dedit vobis requiem et terram hanc”.	13 "Remember what Moses, the servant of the LORD, commanded you when he said, 'The LORD, your God, will permit you to settle in this land.'
14 Uxores vestrae et filii ac iumenta manebunt in terra, quam tradidit vobis Moyses trans Iordanem; vos autem transibitis armati ante fratres vestros, omnes viri fortes, et adiuvabitis eos,	14 Your wives, your children, and your livestock shall remain in the land Moses gave you here beyond the Jordan. But all the warriors among you must cross over armed ahead of your kinsmen and you must help them
15 donec det requiem Dominus fratribus vestris, sicut et vobis dedit, et possideant ipsi quoque terram, quam Dominus Deus vester daturus est eis. Et sic revertemini in terram possessionis vestrae et habitabitis in ea, quam vobis dedit Moyses famulus Domini trans Iordanem contra solis ortum ”.	15 until the LORD has settled your kinsmen, and they like you possess the land which the LORD, your God, is giving them. Afterward you may return and occupy your own land, which Moses, the servant of the LORD, has given you east of the Jordan."
16 Responderuntque ad Iosue atque dixerunt: “ Omnia, quae praecepisti nobis, faciemus et, quocumque miseris, ibimus.	16 "We will do all you have commanded us," they answered Joshua, "and we will go wherever you send us. We will obey you as completely as we obeyed Moses.
17 Sicut oboedivimus in cunctis Moysi, ita oboediemus et tibi; tantum sit Dominus Deus tuus tecum, sicut fuit cum Moyse.	17 But may the LORD, your God, be with you as he was with Moses.
18 Quicumque contradixerit ori tuo et non oboedierit cunctis sermonibus, quos praeceperis ei, moriatur; tu tantum confortare et viriliter age ”.	18 If anyone rebels against your orders and does not obey every command you give him, he shall be put to death. But be firm and steadfast."
