1 Allora tutta la comunità degli Israeliti si radunò in Silo, e qui eresse la tenda del convegno. Il paese era stato sottomesso a loro.	1 After they had subdued the land, the whole community of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh, where they set up the meeting tent.
2 Rimanevano tra gli Israeliti sette tribù che non avevano avuto la loro parte.	2 Seven tribes among the Israelites had not yet received their heritage.
3 Disse allora Giosuè ai figli di Israele: "Fino a quando trascurerete di andare ad occupare il paese, che vi ha dato il Signore, Dio dei padri vostri?	3 Joshua therefore said to the Israelites, "How much longer will you put off taking steps to possess the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?
4 Sceglietevi tre uomini per tribù e io li invierò. Essi si alzeranno, gireranno nella regione, la descriveranno secondo la loro eredità e torneranno da me.	4 Choose three men from each of your tribes; I will commission them to begin a survey of the land, which they shall describe for purposes of inheritance. When they return to me
5 Essi se la divideranno in sette parti: Giuda rimarrà sul suo territorio nel meridione e quelli della casa di Giuseppe rimarranno sul loro territorio al settentrione.	5 you shall divide it into seven parts. Judah is to retain its territory in the south, and the house of Joseph its territory in the north.
6 Voi poi farete una descrizione del paese in sette parti e me la porterete qui e io getterò per voi la sorte qui dinanzi al Signore Dio nostro.	6 You shall bring here to me the description of the land in seven sections. I will then cast lots for you here before the LORD, our God.
7 Infatti non vi è parte per i leviti in mezzo a voi, perché il sacerdozio del Signore è la loro eredità, e Gad, Ruben e metà della tribù di Manàsse hanno già ricevuta la loro eredità oltre il Giordano, ad oriente, come ha concesso loro Mosè, servo del Signore".	7 For the Levites have no share among you, because the priesthood of the LORD is their heritage; while Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have already received the heritage east of the Jordan which Moses, the servant of the LORD, gave them."
8 Si alzarono dunque gli uomini e si misero in cammino; Giosuè a coloro che andavano a descrivere il paese ordinò: "Andate, girate nella regione, descrivetela e tornate da me e qui io getterò per voi la sorte davanti al Signore, in Silo".	8 When those who were to map out the land were ready for the journey, Joshua instructed them to survey the land, prepare a description of it, and return to him; then he would cast lots for them there before the LORD in Shiloh.
9 Gli uomini andarono, passarono per la regione, la descrissero secondo le città in sette parti su di un libro e vennero da Giosuè all'accampamento, in Silo.	9 So they went through the land, listed its cities in writing in seven sections, and returned to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh.
10 Allora Giosuè gettò per loro la sorte in Silo, dinanzi al Signore, e lì Giosuè spartì il paese tra gli Israeliti, secondo le loro divisioni.	10 Joshua then divided up the land for the Israelites into their separate shares, casting lots for them before the LORD in Shiloh.
11 Fu tirata a sorte la parte della tribù dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie; la parte che toccò loro aveva i confini tra i figli di Giuda e i figli di Giuseppe.	11 One lot fell to the clans of the tribe of Benjaminites. The territory allotted them lay between the descendants of Judah and those of Joseph.
12 Dal lato di settentrione, il loro confine partiva dal Giordano, saliva il pendio settentrionale di Gèrico, saliva per la montagna verso occidente e faceva capo al deserto di Bet-Aven.	12 Their northern boundary began at the Jordan and went over the northern flank of Jericho, up westward into the mountains, till it reached the desert of Beth-aven.
13 Di là passava per Luza, sul versante meridionale di Luza, cioè Betel, e scendeva ad Atarot-Addar, presso il monte che è a mezzogiorno di Bet-Coron inferiore.	13 From there it crossed over to the southern flank of Luz (that is, Bethel). Then it ran down to Ataroth-addar, on the mountaintop south of Lower Beth-horon.
14 Poi il confine si piegava e, al lato occidentale, girava a mezzogiorno dal monte posto di fronte a Bet-Coron, a mezzogiorno, e faceva capo a Kiriat-Baal, cioè Kiriat-Iearim, città dei figli di Giuda. Questo era il lato occidentale.	14 For the western border, the boundary line swung south from the mountaintop opposite Bethhoron till it reached Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), which city belonged to the Judahites. This was the western boundary.
15 Il lato meridionale cominciava all'estremità di Kiriat-Iearim. Il confine piegava verso occidente fino alla fonte delle acque di Neftoach;	15 The southern boundary began at the limits of Kiriath-jearim and projected to the spring at Nephtoah.
16 poi scendeva all'estremità del monte di fronte alla valle di Ben-Innom, nella valle dei Refaim, al nord, e scendeva per la valle di Innom, sul pendio meridionale dei Gebusei, fino a En-Roghel.	16 It went down to the edge of the mountain on the north of the Valley of Rephaim, where it faces the Valley of Ben-hinnom; and continuing down the Valley of Hinnom along the southern flank of the Jebusites, reached En-rogel.
17 Si estendeva quindi verso il nord e giungeva a En-Semes; di là si dirigeva verso le Curve di fronte alla salita di Adummim e scendeva al sasso di Bocan, figlio di Ruben;	17 Inclining to the north, it extended to En-shemesh, and thence to Geliloth, opposite the pass of Adummim. Then it dropped to Eben-Bohan-ben-Reuben,
18 poi passava per il pendio settentrionale di fronte all'Araba e scendeva all'Araba.	18 across the northern flank of the Arabah overlook, down into the Aarabah.
19 Il confine passava quindi per il pendio settentrionale di Bet-Ogla e faceva capo al golfo settentrionale del Mar Morto, alla foce meridionale del Giordano. Questo era il confine meridionale.	19 From there the boundary continued across the northern flank of Beth-hoglah and extended to the northern tip of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. This was the southern boundary.
20 Il Giordano serviva di confine dal lato orientale. Questo il possedimento dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie, con i suoi confini da tutti i lati.	20 The Jordan bounded it on the east. This was how the heritage of the clans of the Benjaminites was bounded on all sides.

22 Bet-Araba, Semaraim, Betel,	22 Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,
23 Avvim, Para, Ofra,	23 Avvim, Parah, Ophrah,
24 Chefar-Ammonai, Ofni e Gheba; dodici città e i loro villaggi;	24 Chephar-ammoni, Ophni and Geba; twelve cities and their villages.
25 Gàbaon, Rama, Beerot,	25 Also Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,
26 Mizpe, Chefira, Mosa,	26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah,
27 Rekem, Irpeel, Tareala,	27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,
28 Sela-Elef, Iebus, cioè Gerusalemme, Gabaa, Kiriat-Iearim: quattordici città e i loro villaggi. Questo fu il possesso dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie.	28 Zela, Haeleph, the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah and Kiriath; fourteen cities and their villages. This was the heritage of the clans of Benjaminites.
