1 Quando Giosuè fu vecchio e avanti negli anni, il Signore gli disse: "Tu sei diventato vecchio, avanti negli anni e rimane molto territorio da occupare.	1 Now Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, 'You are now old andadvanced in years, yet there is stil a great deal of territory left to be taken possession of.
2 Questo è il paese rimasto: tutti i distretti dei Filistei e tutto il territorio dei Ghesuriti,	2 This is al the territory left: 'Al the districts of the Philistines and the whole country of the Geshurites;
3 dal Sicor, che è sulla frontiera dell'Egitto, fino al territorio di Ekron, al nord, che è ritenuto cananeo, i cinque principati dei Filistei: quello di Gaza, di Asdod, di Ascalon, di Gat e di Ekron; gli Avviti	3 from the Shihor, facing Egypt, to the frontier of Ekron in the north, is reckoned as Canaanite territory.The five rulers of the Philistines have their seats at Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, respectively; theAvvites are in
4 al mezzogiorno; tutto il paese dei Cananei, da Ara che è di quelli di Sidòne, fino ad Afek, sino al confine degli Amorrei;	4 the south. The entire territory of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, as far asAphekah and as far as the frontier of the Amorites;
5 il paese di quelli di Biblos e tutto il Libano ad oriente, da Baal-Gad sotto il monte Ermon fino all'ingresso di Amat.	5 and then the country of the Gebalites with the entire Lebanon eastwards from Baal-Gad at the foot ofMount Hermon to the Pass of Hamath.
6 Tutti gli abitanti delle montagne dal Libano a Misrefot-Maim, tutti quelli di Sidòne, io li scaccerò davanti agli Israeliti. Però tu assegna questo paese in possesso agli Israeliti, come ti ho comandato.	6 'All who live in the highlands from the Lebanon to Misrephoth in the west -- al the Sidonians -- I myselfshall dispossess before the Israelites. Al you have to do is to distribute the territory as a heritage for theIsraelites as I have ordered you.
7 Ora dividi questo paese a sorte alle nove tribù e a metà della tribù di Manàsse".	7 The time has come to divide this territory as a heritage between the nine tribes and the half-tribe ofManasseh: from the Jordan as far as the Great Sea in the west, you must give it them; the Great Sea wil betheir limit.'
8 Insieme con l'altra metà di Manàsse, i Rubeniti e i Gaditi avevano ricevuto la loro parte di eredità, che Mosè aveva data loro oltre il Giordano, ad oriente, come aveva concesso loro Mosè, servo del Signore.	8 As regards the other half-tribe of Manasseh, this and the Reubenites and Gadites had already receivedtheir heritage, given them by Moses on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, the one which Moses, servant ofYahweh, had already given them:
9 Da Aroer, che è sulla riva del fiume Arnon, e dalla città, che è in mezzo alla valle, tutta la pianura di Madaba fino a Dibon;	9 The country onwards from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the town in the bottom of theval ey and the entire tableland from Medeba to Dibon;
10 tutte le città di Sicon, re degli Amorrei, che regnava in Chesbon, sino al confine degli Ammoniti.	10 al the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, to the frontier of theAmmonites;
11 Inoltre Gàlaad, il territorio dei Ghesuriti e dei Maacatiti, tutte le montagne dell'Ermon e tutto Basan fino a Salca;	11 then Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites with the whole Hermon range and thewhole of Bashan as far as Salecah;
12 tutto il regno di Og, in Basan, il quale aveva regnato in Astarot e in Edrei ed era l'ultimo superstite dei Refaim, Mosè li aveva debellati e spodestati.	12 and in Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the lastof the survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had conquered and dispossessed these two kings.
13 Però gli Israeliti non avevano scacciato i Ghesuriti e i Maacatiti; così Ghesur e Maaca abitano in mezzo ad Israele fino ad oggi.	13 The Israelites did not, however, dispossess either the Geshurites or the Maacathites, hence Geshurand Maacah survive inside Israel even today.
14 Soltanto alla tribù di Levi non aveva assegnato eredità: i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco per il Signore, Dio di Israele, sono la sua eredità, secondo quanto gli aveva detto il Signore.	14 To the tribe of Levi alone no heritage was given; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, as he hadtold him.
15 Mosè aveva dato alla tribù dei figli di Ruben una parte secondo le loro famiglie	15 Moses had given the tribe of the sons of Reuben a share by clans.
16 ed essi ebbero il territorio da Aroer, che è sulla riva del fiume Arnon, e la città che è a metà della valle e tutta la pianura presso Madaba;	16 Thus, their territory was the entire tableland from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the townin the bottom of the val ey, as far as Medeba,
17 Chesbon e tutte le sue città che sono nella pianura, Dibon, Bamot-Baal, Bet-Baal-Meon,	17 Heshbon with all the towns on the tableland: Dibon, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Meon,
18 Iaaz, Kedemot, Mefaat,	18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
19 Kiriataim, Sibma e Zeret-Sacar sulle montagne che dominano la valle;	19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah and, in the highlands of the Arabah, Zereth-Shahar;
20 Bet-Peor, i declivi del Pisga, Bet-Iesimot,	20 Beth-Peor, the watered foothills of Mount Pisgah, Beth-ha-Jeshimoth,
21 tutte le città della pianura, tutto il regno di Sicon, re degli Amorrei, che aveva regnato in Chesbon e che Mosè aveva sconfitto insieme con i capi dei Madianiti, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Cur e Reba, vassalli di Sicon, che abitavano nella regione.	21 al the towns on the tableland and the entire kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reignedin Heshbon; he had been defeated by Moses, and with him the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur andReba, vassals of Sihon, formerly living in the country.
22 Quanto a Balaam, figlio di Beor, l'indovino, gli Israeliti lo uccisero di spada insieme a quelli che avevano trafitto.	22 As regards Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, the Israelites had put him to the sword with thosewhom they had kil ed.
23 Il confine per i figli di Ruben fu dunque il Giordano e il territorio limitrofo. Questa fu l'eredità dei figli di Ruben secondo le loro famiglie: le città con i loro villaggi.	23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the Jordan and its territory. Such was the heritage of the sons ofReuben, by clans, with the towns and vil ages belonging to them.
24 Mosè poi aveva dato una parte alla tribù di Gad, ai figli di Gad secondo le loro famiglie	24 Moses had given the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, a share by clans.
25 ed essi ebbero il territorio di Iazer e tutte le città di Gàlaad e metà del paese degli Ammoniti fino ad Aroer, che è di fronte a Rabba,	25 Their territory was Jazer, al the towns of Gilead, half the country of the Ammonites as far as Aroerfacing Rabbah,
26 e da Chesbon fino a Ramat-Mizpe e Betonim e da Macanaim fino al territorio di Lodebar;	26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-Mizpeh and Betonim; from Mahanaim as far as the territory of Lo-Debar,
27 nella valle: Bet-Aram e Bet-Nimra, Succot e Zafon, il resto del regno di Sicon, re di Chesbon. Il Giordano era il confine sino all'estremità del mare di Genèsaret oltre il Giordano, ad oriente.	27 and in the val ey: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon -- the rest of the kingdom of Sihonking of Heshbon -- the Jordan and the territory running to the tip of the Sea of Chinneroth, on the further, easternside of the Jordan.
28 Questa è l'eredità dei figli di Gad secondo le loro famiglie: le città con i loro villaggi.	28 Such was the heritage of the sons of Gad, by clans, with their towns and vil ages belonging to them.
29 Mosè aveva dato una parte a metà della tribù dei figli di Manàsse, secondo le loro famiglie	29 Moses had given the half-tribe of Manasseh a share by clans.
30 ed essi ebbero il territorio da Macanaim, tutto il Basan, tutto il regno di Og, re di Basan, e tutti gli attendamenti di Iair, che sono in Basan: sessanta città.	30 Their territory, starting from Mahanaim, was the whole of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og king ofBashan, all the Encampments of Jair in Bashan: sixty towns.
31 La metà di Gàlaad, Astarot e Edrei, città del regno di Og in Basan furono dati ai figli di Machir, figlio di Manàsse, anzi alla metà dei figli di Machir, secondo le loro famiglie.	31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, were al otted to the sons ofMachir son of Manasseh, to half of the sons of Machir, by clans.
32 Questo distribuì Mosè nelle steppe di Moab, oltre il Giordano di Gèrico, ad oriente.	32 This was what Moses had conferred in heritage on the Plains of Moab on the further, eastern side ofthe Jordan opposite Jericho.
33 Alla tribù di Levi però Mosè non aveva assegnato alcuna eredità: il Signore, Dio di Israele, è la loro eredità, come aveva loro detto.	33 To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses gave no heritage; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, ashe had told him.
