1 Dopo la morte di Mosè, servo del Signore, il Signore disse a Giosuè, figlio di Nun, servo di Mosè:	1 And after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, it happened that the Lord spoke to Joshua, the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, and he said to him:
2 "Mosè mio servo è morto; orsù, attraversa questo Giordano tu e tutto questo popolo, verso il paese che io do loro, agli Israeliti.	2 “Moses, my servant, has died. Rise up, and cross this Jordan, you and all the people with you, into the land which I will give to the sons of Israel.
3 Ogni luogo che calcherà la pianta dei vostri piedi, ve l'ho assegnato, come ho promesso a Mosè.	3 I will deliver to you every place that the step of your foot will tread upon, just as I said to Moses.
4 Dal deserto e dal Libano fino al fiume grande, il fiume Eufrate, tutto il paese degli Hittiti, fino al Mar Mediterraneo, dove tramonta il sole: tali saranno i vostri confini.	4 From the desert and from Lebanon, even to the great river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, as far as the great sea opposite the setting of the sun, shall be your border.
5 Nessuno potrà resistere a te per tutti i giorni della tua vita; come sono stato con Mosè, così sarò con te; non ti lascerò né ti abbandonerò.	5 No one will be able to resist you during all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so will I be with you. I will not leave you, nor will I forsake you.
6 Sii coraggioso e forte, poiché tu dovrai mettere questo popolo in possesso della terra che ho giurato ai loro padri di dare loro.	6 Be strengthened and be steadfast. For you shall divide by lot, to this people, the land about which I swore to their fathers that I would deliver it to them.
7 Solo sii forte e molto coraggioso, cercando di agire secondo tutta la legge che ti ha prescritta Mosè, mio servo. Non deviare da essa né a destra né a sinistra, perché tu abbia successo in qualunque tua impresa.	7 Therefore, be strengthened and be very steadfast, so that you may observe and accomplish the entire law, which Moses, my servant, instructed to you. You may not turn aside from it to the right, nor to the left. So may you understand all that you should do.
8 Non si allontani dalla tua bocca il libro di questa legge, ma mèditalo giorno e notte, perché tu cerchi di agire secondo quanto vi è scritto; poiché allora tu porterai a buon fine le tue imprese e avrai successo.	8 The book of this law shall not depart from your mouth. Instead, you shall meditate upon it, day and night, so that you may observe and do all the things that are written in it. Then you shall direct your way and understand it.
9 Non ti ho io comandato: Sii forte e coraggioso? Non temere dunque e non spaventarti, perché è con te il Signore tuo Dio, dovunque tu vada".	9 Behold, I am instructing you. Be strengthened, and be steadfast. Do not dread, and do not fear. For the Lord your God is with you in all things, wherever you may go.”
10 Allora Giosuè comandò agli scribi del popolo:	10 And Joshua instructed the leaders of the people, saying: “Cross through the midst of the camp, and command the people, and say:
11 "Passate in mezzo all'accampamento e comandate al popolo: Fatevi provviste di viveri, poiché fra tre giorni voi passerete questo Giordano, per andare ad occupare il paese che il Signore vostro Dio vi da' in possesso".	11 ‘Prepare your food supplies. For after the third day, you shall cross the Jordan, and you shall enter so as to possess the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.’ ”
12 Poi Giosuè disse ai Rubeniti, ai Gaditi e alla metà della tribù di Manàsse:	12 Likewise, he said to the Reubenites and to the Gadites, and to the one half tribe of Manasseh:
13 "Ricordatevi di ciò che vi ha ordinato Mosè, servo del Signore: Il Signore Dio vostro vi concede riposo e vi dà questo paese;	13 “Remember the words, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, instructed to you, saying: ‘The Lord your God has given you rest, and has given you all the land.’
14 le vostre mogli, i vostri bambini e il vostro bestiame rimarranno nella terra che vi ha assegnata Mosè oltre il Giordano; voi tutti invece, prodi guerrieri, passerete ben armati davanti ai vostri fratelli, e li aiuterete,	14 Your wives and sons, as well as the cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses delivered to you beyond the Jordan. But as for you, pass over with weapons, before your brothers, all you who are strong of hand, and fight on their behalf,
15 finché il Signore conceda riposo ai vostri fratelli, come a voi, e anch'essi siano entrati in possesso del paese che il Signore Dio vostro assegna loro. Allora ritornerete e possederete la terra della vostra eredità, che Mosè, servo del Signore, diede a voi oltre il Giordano, ad oriente".	15 until the Lord gives rest to your brothers, just as he has given to you, and until they also possess the land, which the Lord your God will give to them. And so shall you be returned to the land of your possession. And you shall live in the land, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave to you beyond the Jordan, opposite the rising of the sun.”
16 Essi risposero a Giosuè: "Faremo quanto ci hai ordinato e noi andremo dovunque ci manderai.	16 And they responded to Joshua, and they said: “All that you have instructed to us, we shall do. And wherever you will send us, we shall go.
17 Come abbiamo obbedito in tutto a Mosè, così obbediremo a te; ma il Signore tuo Dio sia con te come è stato con Mosè.	17 Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so shall we obey you also. But may the Lord your God be with you, just as he was with Moses.
18 Chiunque disprezzerà i tuoi ordini e non obbedirà alle tue parole in quanto ci comanderai, sarà messo a morte. Solo, sii forte e coraggioso".	18 Whoever will contradict your mouth, and whoever will not obey all of your words, which you will instruct to him, let him die. But may you be strengthened, and may you act manfully.”
