1 Quando Salomone ebbe terminato di costruire il tempio del Signore, la reggia e quanto aveva voluto attuare,	1 When Solomon had finished building the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and everything else whichSolomon had wanted to do,
2 il Signore apparve per la seconda volta a Salomone, come gli era apparso in Gàbaon.	2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.
3 Il Signore gli disse: "Ho ascoltato la preghiera e la supplica che mi hai rivolto; ho santificato questa casa, che tu hai costruita perché io vi ponga il mio nome per sempre; i miei occhi e il mio cuore saranno rivolti verso di essa per sempre.	3 Yahweh said to him, 'I have heard your prayer and the entreaty which you have before me. I consecratethis temple which you have built: I place my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart wil be there always.
4 Se tu camminerai davanti a me, come vi camminò tuo padre, con cuore integro e con rettitudine, se adempirai quanto ti ho comandato e se osserverai i miei statuti e i miei decreti,	4 For your part, if you walk before me in innocence of heart and in honesty, like your father David, if youdo everything that I command and keep my laws and my ordinances,
5 io stabilirò il trono del tuo regno su Israele per sempre, come ho promesso a Davide tuo padre: Non ti mancherà mai un uomo sul trono di Israele.	5 I shal make your royal throne secure over Israel for ever, as I promised your father David when I said,"You wil never lack for a man on the throne of Israel."
6 Ma se voi e i vostri figli vi allontanerete da me, se non osserverete i comandi e i decreti che io vi ho dati, se andrete a servire altri dèi e a prostrarvi davanti ad essi,	6 But if you turn away from me, either you or your descendants, and instead of keeping mycommandments and laws which I have laid down for you, you go and serve other gods and worship them,
7 eliminerò Israele dal paese che ho dato loro, rigetterò da me il tempio che ho consacrato al mio nome; Israele diventerà la favola e lo zimbello di tutti i popoli.	7 then I shal banish Israel from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which Ihave consecrated for my name, and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among al peoples.
8 Riguardo a questo tempio, già così eccelso, chiunque vi passerà vicino si stupirà e fischierà, domandandosi: Perché il Signore ha agito così con questo paese e con questo tempio?	8 As for this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and they wil whistle and say,"Why has Yahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"
9 Si risponderà: Perché hanno abbandonato il Signore loro Dio che aveva fatto uscire i loro padri dal paese d'Egitto, si sono legati a dèi stranieri, prostrandosi davanti ad essi e servendoli; per questo il Signore ha fatto piombare su di loro tutta questa sciagura".	9 And the answer wil be, "Because they deserted Yahweh their God who brought their ancestors out ofEgypt, and they adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why Yahweh has brought al thesedisasters on them." '
10 Venti anni dopo che Salomone aveva costruito i due edifici, il tempio del Signore e la reggia,	10 At the end of the twenty years that it took Solomon to erect the two buildings, the Temple of Yahwehand the royal palace
11 poiché Chiram, re di Tiro, aveva fornito a Salomone legname di cedro e legname di abete e oro a piacere, Salomone diede a Chiram venti villaggi nella regione della Galilea.	11 (Hiram king of Tyre had provided Solomon with al the cedar wood, juniper wood and gold that hewanted), King Solomon gave Hiram twenty towns in the territory of Galilee.
12 Chiram partì da Tiro per vedere i villaggi che Salomone gli aveva dati, ma non gli piacquero.	12 But when Hiram came from Tyre to view the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleasedwith them.
13 Perciò disse: "Sono questi i villaggi che tu mi hai dati, fratello mio?". Li chiamò paese di Kabul, nome ancora in uso.	13 He said, 'What kind of towns are these you have given me, brother?' And to this day they are known as'cabul-land'.
14 Chiram mandò al re centoventi talenti d'oro.	14 Hiram sent the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.
15 Questa è l'occasione del lavoro forzato che reclutò il re Salomone per costruire il tempio, la reggia, il Millo, le mura di Gerusalemme, Cazor, Meghiddo, Ghezer.	15 This is an account of the forced labour levied by King Solomon for building the Temple of Yahweh, hisown palace, the Mil o and the fortifications of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, Gezer
16 Il faraone, re d'Egitto, con una spedizione aveva preso Ghezer, l'aveva data alle fiamme, aveva ucciso i Cananei che abitavano nella città e poi l'aveva assegnata in dote alla figlia, moglie di Salomone.	16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt mounted an expedition, captured Gezer, burnt it down and massacred theCanaanites living there; he then gave the town as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife,
17 Salomone riedificò Ghezer, Bet-Coròn inferiore,	17 and Solomon rebuilt Gezer), Lower Beth-Horon,
18 Baalat, Tamàr nel deserto del paese	18 Baalath, Tamar in the desert, inside the country,
19 e tutte le città di rifornimento che gli appartenevano, le città per i suoi carri, quelle per i suoi cavalli e quanto Salomone aveva voluto costruire in Gerusalemme, nel Libano e in tutto il territorio del suo dominio.	19 al Solomon's storage towns owned by Solomon, al the towns for his chariots and horses, andwhatever Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and in al the countries under his rule.
20 Quanti rimanevano degli Amorrei, degli Hittiti, dei Perizziti, degli Evei e dei Gebusei, che non appartenevano agli Israeliti,	20 Al those who survived of the Amorite, Hittite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who were notIsraelites-
21 e cioè i discendenti rimasti dopo di loro nel paese, coloro che gli Israeliti non erano riusciti a sterminare, Salomone li costrinse ai lavori forzati, e tale è ancora la loro condizione.	21 their descendants still remaining in the country on whom the Israelites had not been able to enforce thecurse of destruction -- these Solomon levied as forced labourers, as is stil the case today.
22 Ma degli Israeliti, Salomone non assoggettò nessuno alla schiavitù: costoro divennero suoi guerrieri, suoi ministri, suoi ufficiali, suoi scudieri, capi dei suoi carri e dei suoi cavalieri.	22 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites; for they were soldiers, his officials,his administrators, his officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.
23 I capi dei prefetti, che dirigevano i lavori per Salomone, erano cinquecentocinquanta; essi sovrintendevano alla massa impiegata nei lavori.	23 There were five hundred and fifty officials in charge of the foremen over Solomon's work, whosupervised the people employed on the work.
24 Dopo che la figlia del faraone si trasferì dalla città di Davide alla casa che Salomone le aveva costruita, questi costruì il Millo.	24 After Pharaoh's daughter had moved from the City of David up to the palace which he had built for her,he then built the Mil o.
25 Tre volte all'anno Salomone offriva olocausti e sacrifici di comunione sull'altare che aveva costruito per il Signore e bruciava incenso su quello che era davanti al Signore. Così terminò il tempio.	25 Three times a year Solomon presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices on the altar which hehad built for Yahweh and set his burnt offerings smoking before Yahweh. Thus he completed the Temple.
26 Salomone costruì anche una flotta in Ezion-Gheber, cioè in Elat, sulla riva del Mare Rosso nella regione di Edom.	26 King Solomon equipped a fleet at Ezion-Geber, which is near Elath on the shores of the Red Sea, inEdom.
27 Chiram inviò sulle navi i suoi servi, marinai che conoscevano il mare, insieme con i servi di Salomone.	27 For this fleet Hiram sent men of his, experienced sailors, to serve with those in Solomon's service.
28 Andarono in Ofir, ove presero oro - quattrocentoventi talenti - e lo portarono al re Salomone.	28 They went to Ophir and took on four hundred and twenty talents of gold, which they brought back toSolomon.
