1 Alla costruzione del tempio del Signore fu dato inizio l'anno quattrocentottanta dopo l'uscita degli Israeliti dal paese d'Egitto, l'anno quarto del regno di Salomone su Israele, nel mese di Ziv, cioè nel secondo mese.	1 Then it happened that, in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel departed from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of the reign of Solomon over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, the house of the Lord began to be built.
2 Il tempio costruito dal re Salomone per il Signore, era lungo sessanta cubiti, largo venti, alto trenta.	2 Now the house, which king Solomon was building to the Lord, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and thirty cubits in height.
3 Davanti al tempio vi era un atrio lungo venti cubiti, in base alla larghezza del tempio, ed esteso per dieci cubiti secondo la lunghezza del tempio.	3 And a portico was before the temple, of twenty cubits in length, in accord with the measure of the width of the temple. And it had ten cubits of width before the face of the temple.
4 Fece nel tempio finestre quadrangolari con grate.	4 And he made oblique windows in the temple.
5 Intorno al muro del tempio fu costruito un edificio a piani, lungo la navata e la cella.	5 And upon the wall of the temple, he built panels on all sides, in the walls of the house around the temple and the oracle. And he made side chambers all around.
6 Il piano più basso era largo cinque cubiti, quello di mezzo sei e il terzo sette, perché le mura esterne, intorno, erano state costruite a riseghe, in modo che le travi non poggiassero sulle mura del tempio.	6 The flooring on the bottom level held five cubits in width, and the middle floor was six cubits in width, and the third floor held seven cubits in width. Then he positioned beams on the house all around the outside, in such a way that they would not be fastened to the walls of the temple.
7 Per la sua costruzione si usarono pietre lavorate e intere; durante i lavori nel tempio non si udì rumore di martelli, di piccone o di altro arnese di ferro.	7 Now the house, while it was being built, was made from cut and finished stones. And so, neither mallet, nor chisel, nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.
8 La porta del piano più basso era sul lato destro del tempio; per mezzo di una scala a chiocciola si passava al piano di mezzo e dal piano di mezzo a quello superiore.	8 The door at the side of the middle section was to the right of the house. And they would ascend along winding stairs to the middle level, and from the middle level to the third level.
9 In tal modo Salomone costruì il tempio; dopo averlo terminato, lo ricoprì con assi e travi di cedro.	9 And he built the house, and finished it. And he overlaid the house with boards of cedar.
10 Innalzò anche l'ala laterale intorno al tempio, alta cinque cubiti per piano; la unì al tempio con travi di cedro.	10 And he built a paneling over the entire house, five cubits in height, and he covered the house with cedar wood.
11 E il Signore parlò a Salomone e disse:	11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying:
12 "Riguardo al tempio che stai edificando, se camminerai secondo i miei decreti, se eseguirai le mie disposizioni e osserverai tutti i miei comandi, uniformando ad essi la tua condotta, io confermerò a tuo favore le parole dette da me a Davide tuo padre.	12 “Concerning this house, which you are building: if you will walk in my precepts, and carry out my judgments, and keep all my commandments, advancing by them, I will confirm my word to you, which I spoke to your father David.
13 Io abiterò in mezzo agli Israeliti; non abbandonerò il mio popolo Israele".	13 And I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.”
14 Terminata la costruzione del tempio,	14 And so, Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 Salomone rivestì all'interno le pareti del tempio con tavole di cedro dal pavimento al soffitto; rivestì anche con legno di cedro la parte interna del soffitto e con tavole di cipresso il pavimento.	15 And he built the walls of the house, on the interior, with panels of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the top of the walls, and even to the ceiling. He covered it with cedar wood on the interior. And he overlaid the floor of the house with panels of spruce.
16 Separò uno spazio di venti cubiti, a partire dal fondo del tempio, con un assito di tavole di cedro che dal pavimento giungeva al soffitto, e la cella che ne risultò all'interno divenne il santuario, il Santo dei santi.	16 And he built panels of cedar, of twenty cubits, at the back part of the temple, from the floor even to the top. And he made the inner house of the oracle as the Holy of Holies.
17 La navata di fronte ad esso era di quaranta cubiti.	17 And the temple itself, before the doors of the oracle, was forty cubits.
18 Il cedro all'interno del tempio era scolpito a rosoni e a boccioli di fiori; tutto era di cedro e non si vedeva una pietra.	18 And the entire house was clothed with cedar on the interior, having its turnings and junctures artfully wrought, with carvings projecting outward. Everything was clothed with panels of cedar. And no stone at all was able to be seen in the wall.
19 Per l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore fu apprestata una cella nella parte più segreta del tempio.	19 Now he made the oracle in the middle of the house, in the inner part, so that he might station the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.
20 La cella interna era lunga venti cubiti e alta venti. La rivestì d'oro purissimo e vi eresse un altare di cedro.	20 And the oracle held twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height. And he covered and clothed it with the purest gold. Then, too, he clothed the altar in cedar.
21 Salomone rivestì l'interno del tempio con oro purissimo e fece passare, davanti alla cella, un velo che scorreva mediante catenelle d'oro e lo ricoprì d'oro.	21 Also, the house before the oracle, he covered with the purest gold, and he fastened the plates with nails of gold.
22 E d'oro fu rivestito tutto l'interno del tempio, e rivestì d'oro anche tutto l'altare che era nella cella.	22 And there was nothing in the temple that was not covered with gold. Moreover, the entire altar of the oracle he overlaid with gold.
23 Nella cella fece due cherubini di legno di ulivo, alti dieci cubiti.	23 And he made in the oracle two cherubim from wood of the olive tree, of ten cubits in height.
24 L'ala di un cherubino era di cinque cubiti e di cinque cubiti era anche l'altra ala del cherubino; c'erano dieci cubiti da una estremità all'altra delle ali.	24 One wing of a cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of a cherub was five cubits, that is, having ten cubits from the summit of one wing even to the summit of the other wing.
25 Di dieci cubiti era l'altro cherubino; i due cherubini erano identici nella misura e nella forma.	25 Likewise, the second cherub was ten cubits. And the measure was equal and the work was one, in the two cherubim,

And the cherubim extended their wings, and the wing of the one was touching the wall, and the wing of the second cherub was touching the other wall. But the other wings, in the middle of the temple, were touching each another.
28 Erano anch'essi rivestiti d'oro.	28 He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29 Ricoprì le pareti del tempio con sculture e incisioni di cherubini, di palme e di boccioli di fiori, all'interno e all'esterno.	29 And all the walls of the temple all around he engraved with diverse carvings and turnings. And he made in them cherubim, and palm trees, and various images, as if these were projecting out, and going forth from, the wall.
30 Ricoprì d'oro il pavimento del tempio, all'interno e all'esterno.	30 Then, too, the floor of the house he overlaid with gold within and without.
31 Fece costruire la porta della cella con battenti di legno di ulivo; il frontale e gli stipiti formavano un pentagono.	31 And at the entrance of the oracle, he made little doors, from wood of the olive tree, with posts of five corners.
32 I due battenti erano di legno di ulivo. Su di essi fece scolpire cherubini, palme e boccioli di fiori, che ricoprì d'oro, stendendo lamine d'oro sui cherubini e sulle palme.	32 And there were two doors, from wood of the olive tree. And he carved upon them pictures of cherubim, and images of palm trees, and very prominent figures. And he overlaid these with gold. And he covered the cherubim, as well as the palm trees and the other things, with gold.
33 Lo stesso procedimento adottò per la porta della navata, che aveva stipiti di legno di ulivo a forma quadrangolare.	33 And he made, at the entrance of the temple, posts from wood of the olive tree, with four corners,
34 I due battenti erano di legno di abete; un battente era costituito da due pezzi girevoli e così l'altro battente.	34 and two doors, from wood of the spruce tree, on the other side. And each door was double, and so it opened by folding upon itself.
35 Vi scolpì cherubini, palme e boccioli di fiori, che ricoprì d'oro lungo le linee dell'incisione.	35 And he carved cherubim, and palm trees, and very prominent engravings. And he covered everything with gold plates, worked to be perfectly square.
36 Costruì il muro del cortile interno con tre ordini di pietre squadrate e con un ordine di tavole di cedro.	36 And he built the inner atrium with three rows of polished stones, and one row of cedar wood.
37 Nell'anno quarto, nel mese di Ziv, si gettarono le fondamenta del tempio del Signore.	37 In the fourth year, the house of the Lord was founded, in the month of Ziv.
38 Nell'anno undecimo, nel mese di Bul, che è l'ottavo mese, fu terminato il tempio in tutte le sue parti e con tutto l'occorrente. Salomone lo edificò in sette anni.	38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was perfected in all its works and in all its equipment. And he built it for seven years.
