BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In quel tempo si ammalò Abia, figlio di Geroboamo.	1 At that time Abijah, Jeroboam's son, fel sick,
2 Geroboamo disse alla moglie: "Alzati, cambia vestito perché non si sappia che tu sei la moglie di Geroboamo e va' a Silo. Là c'è il profeta Achia, colui che mi disse che avrei regnato su questo popolo.	2 and Jeroboam said to his wife, 'Come, please disguise yourself so that no one will recognise you asJeroboam's wife, and go to Shiloh; the prophet Ahijah is there, the man who said I was to be king of this people.
3 Prendi con te dieci pani, focacce e un vaso di miele; va' da lui. Egli ti rivelerà che cosa avverrà del ragazzo".	3 Go to him, and take ten loaves and some savoury food and a jar of honey; he wil tell you what wilhappen to the child.'
4 La moglie di Geroboamo fece così. Si alzò, andò in Silo ed entrò nella casa di Achia, il quale non poteva vedere, perché i suoi occhi erano offuscati per la vecchiaia.	4 Jeroboam's wife did this: she set out, went to Shiloh and came to Ahijah's house.
5 Il Signore aveva detto ad Achia: "Ecco, la moglie di Geroboamo viene per chiederti un oracolo sul figlio, che è malato; tu le dirai questo e questo. Arriva travestita".	5 Now Ahijah could not see, his eyes were fixed with age, but Yahweh had told him, 'Jeroboam's wife isnow on her way to ask you for a prophecy about her son, as he is sick. You wil tel her such and such. Whenshe comes, she wil pretend to be some other woman.'
6 Appena Achia sentì il rumore dei piedi di lei che arrivava alla porta, disse: "Entra, moglie di Geroboamo. Perché ti sei travestita così? Io ho per te cattive notizie.	6 So when Ahijah heard her footsteps at the door, he cal ed, 'Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why pretend tobe someone else? I have bad news for you.
7 Su, riferisci a Geroboamo: Dice il Signore, Dio di Israele: Io ti ho innalzato dalla turba del popolo costituendoti capo del popolo di Israele,	7 Go and tell Jeroboam, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: I raised you from the people and made youleader of my people Israel;
8 ho strappato il regno dalla casa di Davide e l'ho consegnato a te. Ma tu non ti sei comportato come il mio servo Davide, che osservò i miei comandi e mi seguì con tutto il cuore, facendo solo quanto è giusto davanti ai miei occhi,	8 I tore the kingdom from the House of David and gave it to you. But you have not been like my servantDavid who kept my commandments and followed me with al his heart, doing only what I regard as right;
9 anzi hai agito peggio di tutti i tuoi predecessori e sei andato a fabbricarti altri dèi e immagini fuse per provocarmi, mentre hai gettato me dietro alle tue spalle.	9 you have done more evil than all your predecessors, you have gone and made yourself other gods,idols of cast metal, provoking my anger, and you have turned your back on me.
10 Per questo, ecco, manderò la sventura sulla casa di Geroboamo, distruggerò nella casa di Geroboamo ogni maschio, schiavo o libero in Israele, e spazzerò la casa di Geroboamo come si spazza lo sterco fino alla sua totale scomparsa.	10 For this I shal bring disaster on the House of Jeroboam, I shal wipe out every manjack of the familyof Jeroboam, fettered or free in Israel, I shal sweep away the House of Jeroboam as a man sweeps dung awaytill none is left.
11 I cani divoreranno quanti della casa di Geroboamo moriranno in città; quelli morti in campagna li divoreranno gli uccelli dell'aria, perché il Signore ha parlato.	11 Those of Jeroboam's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the opencountry, the birds of the air wil eat, for Yahweh has spoken."
12 Ma tu alzati, torna a casa; quando i tuoi piedi raggiungeranno la città, il bambino morirà.	12 Now get up and go home; at the moment your feet enter the town, the child will die.
13 Ne faranno il lamento tutti gli Israeliti e lo seppelliranno, perché soltanto costui della famiglia di Geroboamo entrerà in un sepolcro, perché in lui solo si è trovato qualcosa di buono da parte del Signore Dio di Israele nella famiglia di Geroboamo.	13 Al Israel wil mourn for him, and bury him; and he alone of Jeroboam's family will have a properburial, for in him alone of the House of Jeroboam can Yahweh, God of Israel, find anything good.
14 Il Signore stabilirà su Israele un suo re, che distruggerà la famiglia di Geroboamo.	14 Yahweh wil set a king over Israel, who will put an end to the House of Jeroboam.
15 Inoltre il Signore percuoterà Israele, il cui agitarsi sarà simile all'agitarsi di una canna sull'acqua. Eliminerà Israele da questo ottimo paese da lui dato ai loro padri e li disperderà oltre il fiume perché si sono eretti i loro pali sacri, provocando così il Signore.	15 Yahweh wil make Israel shake, til it quivers like a reed in the water; he will uproot Israel from thisprosperous land which he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the River for provoking Yahweh toanger by making their sacred poles.
16 Il Signore abbandonerà Israele a causa dei peccati di Geroboamo, commessi da lui e fatti commettere a Israele".	16 He wil abandon Israel for the sins which Jeroboam has committed and made Israel commit.'
17 La moglie di Geroboamo si alzò e se ne andò a Tirza. Proprio mentre essa entrava nella soglia di casa, il giovinetto morì.	17 Jeroboam's wife rose and left. She arrived at Tirzah, and when she crossed the threshold of thepalace, the child was already dead.
18 Lo seppellirono e tutto Israele ne fece il lamento, secondo la parola del Signore comunicata per mezzo del suo servo, il profeta Achia.	18 They buried him, and al Israel mourned for him, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servantAhijah the prophet.

21 Roboamo, figlio di Salomone, regnò in Giuda. Sua madre, ammonita, si chiamava Naama.	21 In Judah, Rehoboam son of Solomon became king; he was forty-one years old when he came to thethrone and he reigned for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of al the tribesof Israel, to give his name a home there. His mother's name was Naamah, the Ammonite.
22 Giuda fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore; essi provocarono il Signore a gelosia più di quanto non l'avessero fatto tutti i loro padri, con i loro peccati.	22 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, arousing his resentment more than his ancestors by al the sinswhich they had committed;
23 Anch'essi si costruirono alture, stele e pali sacri su ogni alto colle e sotto ogni albero verde.	23 they had built themselves high places, and had set up pil ars and sacred poles on every high hil andunder every spreading tree.
24 Inoltre nel paese c'erano prostituti sacri, i quali rinnovarono tutti gli abomini dei popoli che il Signore aveva scacciati davanti agli Israeliti.	24 There were even male sacred prostitutes in the country. He copied all the shameful practices of thenations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.
25 Nell'anno quinto del re Roboamo, il re di Egitto, Sisach, assalì Gerusalemme.	25 And so it happened that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt advanced onJerusalem
26 Costui depredò i tesori del tempio e vuotò la reggia dei suoi tesori. Prese anche gli scudi d'oro fatti da Salomone.	26 and carried off all the treasures of the Temple of Yahweh and the treasures of the royal palace; hetook everything away, including al the golden shields which Solomon had made.

31 Roboamo si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di Davide. Al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Abiam.	31 When Rehoboam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Abijamsucceeded him.
