Efesios 4

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Os exhorto, pues, yo, preso por el Señor, a que viváis de una manera digna de la vocación con que habéis sido llamados,	1 I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you therefore to lead a life worthy of the vocation to which you werecal ed.
2 con toda humildad, mansedumbre y paciencia, soportándoos unos a otros por amor,	2 With al humility and gentleness, and with patience, support each other in love.
3 poniendo empeño en conservar la unidad del Espíritu con el vínculo de la paz.	3 Take every care to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together.
4 Un solo Cuerpo y un solo Espíritu, como una es la esperanza a que habéis sido llamados.	4 There is one Body, one Spirit, just as one hope is the goal of your calling by God.
5 Un solo Señor, una sola fe, un solo bautismo,	5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 un solo Dios y Padre de todos, que está sobre todos, por todos y en todos.	6 and one God and Father of al , over al , through al and within al .
7 A cada uno de nosotros le ha sido concedido el favor divino a la medida de los dones de Cristo.	7 On each one of us God's favour has been bestowed in whatever way Christ al otted it.
8 Por eso dice: Subiendo a la altura, llevó cautivos y dio dones a los hombres.	8 That is why it says: He went up to the heights, took captives, he gave gifts to humanity.
9 ¿Qué quiere decir «subió» sino que también bajó a las regiones inferiores de la tierra?	9 When it says, 'he went up', it must mean that he had gone down to the deepest levels of the earth.
10 Este que bajó es el mismo que subió por encima de todos los cielos, para llenarlo todo.	10 The one who went down is none other than the one who went up above al the heavens to fil allthings.
11 El mismo «dio» a unos el ser apóstoles; a otros, profetas; a otros, evangelizadores; a otros, pastores y maestros,	11 And to some, his 'gift' was that they should be apostles; to some prophets; to some, evangelists; tosome, pastors and teachers;
12 para el recto ordenamiento de los santos en orden a las funciones del ministerio, para edificación del Cuerpo de Cristo,	12 to knit God's holy people together for the work of service to build up the Body of Christ,
13 hasta que llegemos todos a la unidad de la fe y del conocimiento pleno del Hijo de Dios, al estado de hombre perfecto, a la madurez de la plenitud de Cristo.	13 until we al reach unity in faith and knowledge of the Son of God and form the perfect Man, fullymature with the ful ness of Christ himself.
14 Para que no seamos ya niños, llevados a la deriva y zarandeados por cualquier viento de doctrina, a merced de la malicia humana y de la astucia que conduce engañosamente al error,	14 Then we shal no longer be children, or tossed one way and another, and carried hither and thither byevery new gust of teaching, at the mercy of all the tricks people play and their unscrupulousness in deliberatedeception.
15 antes bien, siendo sinceros en el amor, crezcamos en todo hasta Aquel que es la Cabeza, Cristo,	15 If we live by the truth and in love, we shal grow completely into Christ, who is the head
16 de quien todo el Cuerpo recibe trabazón y cohesión por medio de toda clase de junturas que llevan la nutrición según la actividad propia de cada una de las partes, realizando así el crecimiento del cuerpo para su edificación en el amor.	16 by whom the whole Body is fitted and joined together, every joint adding its own strength, for eachindividual part to work according to its function. So the body grows until it has built itself up in love.
17 Os digo, pues, esto y os conjuro en el Señor, que no viváis ya como viven los gentiles, según la vaciedad de su mente,	17 So this I say to you and attest to you in the Lord, do not go on living the empty-headed life that thegentiles live.
18 sumergido su pensamiento en las tinieblas y excluidos de la vida de Dios por la ignorancia que hay en ellos, por la dureza de su cabeza	18 Intel ectual y they are in the dark, and they are estranged from the life of God, because of theignorance which is the consequence of closed minds.
19 los cuales, habiendo perdido el sentido moral, se entregaron al libertinaje, hasta practicar con desenfreno toda suerte de impurezas.	19 Their sense of right and wrong once dul ed, they have abandoned all self-control and pursue to excessevery kind of uncleanness.
20 Pero no es éste el Cristo que vosotros habéis aprendido,	20 Now that is hardly the way you have learnt Christ,
21 si es que habéis oído hablar de él y en él habéis sido enseñados conforme a la verdad de Jesús	21 unless you failed to hear him properly when you were taught what the truth is in Jesus.
22 a despojaros, en cuanto a vuestra vida anterior, del hombre viejo que se corrompe siguiendo la seducción de las concupiscencias,	22 You were to put aside your old self, which belongs to your old way of life and is corrupted by followingil usory desires.
23 a renovar el espíritu de vuestra mente,	23 Your mind was to be renewed in spirit
24 y a revestiros del Hombre Nuevo, creado según Dios, en la justicia y santidad de la verdad.	24 so that you could put on the New Man that has been created on God's principles, in the uprightnessand holiness of the truth.
25 Por tanto, desechando la mentira, hablad con verdad cada cual con su prójimo, pues somos miembros los unos de los otros.	25 So from now on, there must be no more lies. Speak the truth to one another, since we are al parts ofone another.
26 Si os airáis, no pequéis; no se ponga el sol mientras estéis airados,	26 Even if you are angry, do not sin: never let the sun set on your anger
27 ni deis ocasión al Diablo.	27 or else you wil give the devil a foothold.
28 El que robaba, que ya no robe, sino que trabaje con sus manos, haciendo algo útil para que pueda hacer partícipe al que se halle en necesidad.	28 Anyone who was a thief must stop stealing; instead he should exert himself at some honest job withhis own hands so that he may have something to share with those in need.
29 No salga de vuestra boca palabra dañosa, sino la que sea conveniente para edificar según la necesidad y hacer el bien a los que os escuchen.	29 No foul word should ever cross your lips; let your words be for the improvement of others, as occasionoffers, and do good to your listeners;
30 No entristezcáis al Espíritu Santo de Dios, con el que fuisteis sellados para el día de la redención.	30 do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God who has marked you with his seal, ready for the day when weshall be set free.
31 Toda acritud, ira, cólera, gritos, maledicencia y cualquier clase de maldad, desaparezca de entre vosotros.	31 Any bitterness or bad temper or anger or shouting or abuse must be far removed from you -- as mustevery kind of malice.
32 Sed más bien buenos entre vosotros, entrañables, perdonándoos mutuamente como os perdonó Dios en Cristo.	32 Be generous to one another, sympathetic, forgiving each other as readily as God forgave you inChrist.
