BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Al llegar el día de Pentecostés, estaban todos reunidos en un mismo lugar.	1 When Pentecost day came round, they had al met together,
2 De repente vino del cielo un ruido como el de una ráfaga de viento impetuoso, que llenó toda la casa en la que se encontraban.	2 when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which fil ed the entire house inwhich they were sitting;
3 Se les aparecieron unas lenguas como de fuego que se repartieron y se posaron sobre cada uno de ellos;	3 and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each ofthem.
4 quedaron todos llenos del Espíritu Santo y se pusieron a hablar en otras lenguas, según el Espíritu les concedía expresarse.	4 They were al fil ed with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave thempower to express themselves.
5 Había en Jerusalén hombres piadosos, que allí residían, venidos de todas las naciones que hay bajo el cielo.	5 Now there were devout men living in Jerusalem from every nation under heaven,
6 Al producirse aquel ruido la gente se congregó y se llenó de estupor al oírles hablar cada uno en su propia lengua.	6 and at this sound they al assembled, and each one was bewildered to hear these men speaking hisown language.
7 Estupefactos y admirados decían: «¿Es que no son galileos todos estos que están hablando?	7 They were amazed and astonished. 'Surely,' they said, 'al these men speaking are Galileans?
8 Pues ¿cómo cada uno de nosotros les oímos en nuestra propia lengua nativa?	8 How does it happen that each of us hears them in his own native language?
9 Partos, medos y elamitas; habitantes de Mesopotamia, Judea, Capadocia, el Ponto, Asia,	9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; people from Mesopotamia, Judaea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 Frigia, Panfilia, Egipto, la parte de Libia fronteriza con Cirene, forasteros romanos,	10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya round Cyrene; residents of Rome-
11 judíos y prosélitos, cretenses y árabes, todos les oímos hablar en nuestra lengua las maravillas de Dios».	11 Jews and proselytes alike -- Cretans and Arabs, we hear them preaching in our own language aboutthe marvels of God.'
12 Todos estaban estupefactos y perplejos y se decían unos a otros: «¿Qué significa esto?»	12 Everyone was amazed and perplexed; they asked one another what it all meant.
13 Otros en cambio decían riéndose: «¡Están llenos de mosto!»	13 Some, however, laughed it off. 'They have been drinking too much new wine,' they said.
14 Entonces Pedro, presentándose con los Once, levantó su voz y les dijo: «Judíos y habitantes todos de Jerusalén: Que os quede esto bien claro y prestad atención a mis palabras:	14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven and addressed them in a loud voice: 'Men of Judaea, and al youwho live in Jerusalem, make no mistake about this, but listen careful y to what I say.
15 No están éstos borrachos, como vosotros suponéis, pues es la hora tercia del día,	15 These men are not drunk, as you imagine; why, it is only the third hour of the day.
16 sino que es lo que dijo el profeta:	16 On the contrary, this is what the prophet was saying:
17 Sucederá en los últimos días, dice Dios: Derramaré mi Espíritu sobre toda carne, y profetizarán vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas; vuestros jóvenes verán visiones y vuestros ancianos soñarán sueños.	17 In the last days -- the Lord declares -- I shal pour out my Spirit on al humanity. Your sons anddaughters shal prophesy, your young people shal see visions, your old people dream dreams.
18 Y yo sobre mis siervos y sobre mis siervas derramaré mi Espíritu.	18 Even on the slaves, men and women, shall I pour out my Spirit.
19 Haré prodigios arriba en el cielo y señales abajo en la tierra.	19 I will show portents in the sky above and signs on the earth below.
20 El sol se convertirá en tinieblas, y la luna en sangre, antes de que llegue el Día grande del Señor.	20 The sun wil be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the day of the Lord comes, thatgreat and terrible Day.
21 Y todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor se salvará.	21 And al who cal on the name of the Lord will be saved.
22 «Israelitas, escuchad estas palabras: A Jesús, el Nazoreo, hombre acreditado por Dios entre vosotros con milagros, prodigios y señales que Dios hizo por su medio entre vosotros, como vosotros mismos sabéis,	22 'Men of Israel, listen to what I am going to say: Jesus the Nazarene was a man commended to you byGod by the miracles and portents and signs that God worked through him when he was among you, as youknow.
23 a éste, que fue entregado según el determinado designio y previo conocimiento de Dios, vosotros le matasteis clavándole en la cruz por mano de los impíos;	23 This man, who was put into your power by the deliberate intention and foreknowledge of God, you tookand had crucified and kil ed by men outside the Law.
24 a éste, pues, Dios le resucitó librándole de los dolores del Hades, pues no era posible que quedase bajo su dominio;	24 But God raised him to life, freeing him from the pangs of Hades; for it was impossible for him to be heldin its power since,
25 porque dice de él David: Veía constantemente al Señor delante de mí, puesto que está a mi derecha, para que no vacile.	25 as David says of him: I kept the Lord before my sight always, for with him at my right hand nothing canshake me.
26 Por eso se ha alegrado mi corazón y se ha alborozado mi lengua, y hasta mi carne reposará en la esperanza	26 So my heart rejoiced my tongue delighted; my body, too, wil rest secure,
27 de que no abandonarás mi alma en el Hades ni permitirás que tu santo experimente la corrupción.	27 for you will not abandon me to Hades or al ow your holy one to see corruption.
28 Me has hecho conocer caminos de vida, me llenarás de gozo con tu rostro.	28 You have taught me the way of life, you wil fil me with joy in your presence.
29 «Hermanos, permitidme que os diga con toda libertad cómo el patriarca David murió y fue sepultado y su tumba permanece entre nosotros hasta el presente.	29 'Brothers, no one can deny that the patriarch David himself is dead and buried: his tomb is stil with us.
30 Pero como él era profeta y sabía que Dios le había asegurado con juramento que se sentaría en su trono un descendiente de su sangre,	30 But since he was a prophet, and knew that God had sworn him an oath to make one of hisdescendants succeed him on the throne,
31 vio a lo lejos y habló de la resurrección de Cristo, que ni fue abandonado en el Hades ni su carne experimentó la corrupción.	31 he spoke with foreknowledge about the resurrection of the Christ: he is the one who was notabandoned to Hades, and whose body did not see corruption.
32 A este Jesús Dios le resucitó; de lo cual todos nosotros somos testigos.	32 God raised this man Jesus to life, and of that we are al witnesses.
33 Y exaltado por la diestra de Dios, ha recibido del Padre el Espíritu Santo prometido y ha derramado lo que vosotros veis y oís.	33 Now raised to the heights by God's right hand, he has received from the Father the Holy Spirit, whowas promised, and what you see and hear is the outpouring of that Spirit.
34 Pues David no subió a los cielos y sin embargo dice: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: Siéntate a mi diestra	34 For David himself never went up to heaven, but yet he said: The Lord declared to my Lord, take yourseat at my right hand,
35 hasta que ponga a tus enemigos por escabel de tus pies.	35 till I have made your enemies your footstool.
36 «Sepa, pues, con certeza toda la casa de Israel que Dios ha constituido Señor y Cristo a este Jesús a quien vosotros habéis crucificado».	36 'For this reason the whole House of Israel can be certain that the Lord and Christ whom God has madeis this Jesus whom you crucified.'
37 Al oír esto, dijeron con el corazón compungido a Pedro y a los demás apóstoles: «¿Qué hemos de hacer, hermanos?»	37 Hearing this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, 'What are we to do,brothers?'
38 Pedro les contestó: «Convertíos y que cada uno de vosotros se haga bautizar en el nombre de Jesucristo, para remisión de vuestros pecados; y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo;	38 'You must repent,' Peter answered, 'and every one of you must be baptised in the name of Jesus Christfor the forgiveness of your sins, and you wil receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 pues la Promesa es para vosotros y para vuestros hijos, y para todos los que están lejos, para cuantos llame el Señor Dios nuestro».	39 The promise that was made is for you and your children, and for al those who are far away, for althose whom the Lord our God is cal ing to himself.'
40 Con otras muchas palabras les conjuraba y les exhortaba: «Salvaos de esta generación perversa».	40 He spoke to them for a long time using many other arguments, and he urged them, 'Save yourselvesfrom this perverse generation.'
41 Los que acogieron su Palabra fueron bautizados. Aquel día se les unieron unas 3.000 almas.	41 They accepted what he said and were baptised. That very day about three thousand were added totheir number.
42 Acudían asiduamente a la enseñanza de los apóstoles, a la comunión, a la fracción del pan y a las oraciones.	42 These remained faithful to the teaching of the apostles, to the brotherhood, to the breaking of breadand to the prayers.
43 El temor se apoderaba de todos, pues los apóstoles realizaban muchos prodigios y señales.	43 And everyone was fil ed with awe; the apostles worked many signs and miracles.
44 Todos los creyentes vivían unidos y tenían todo en común;	44 And al who shared the faith owned everything in common;
45 vendían sus posesiones y sus bienes y repartían el precio entre todos, según la necesidad de cada uno.	45 they sold their goods and possessions and distributed the proceeds among themselves according towhat each one needed.
46 Acudían al Templo todos los días con perseverancia y con un mismo espíritu, partían el pan por las casas y tomaban el alimento con alegría y sencillez de corazón.	46 Each day, with one heart, they regularly went to the Temple but met in their houses for the breaking ofbread; they shared their food gladly and generously;
47 Alababan a Dios y gozaban de la simpatía de todo el pueblo. El Señor agregaba cada día a la comunidad a los que se habían de salvar.	47 they praised God and were looked up to by everyone. Day by day the Lord added to their communitythose destined to be saved.
