John 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 'In al truth I tel you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in someother way, is a thief and a bandit.	1 In verità, in verità vi dico: chi non entra nell'ovile per la porta, ma vi sale da altra parte, è ladro e assassino.
2 He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock;	2 Chi invece entra per la porta è pastore delle pecore.
3 the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leadsthem out.	3 A lui apre il portinaio, e le pecore ascoltano la sua voce, ed egli le chiama a nome, e le mena fuori.
4 When he has brought out al those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep fol ow becausethey know his voice.	4 E, quando ha messe fuori le sue pecore, cammina davanti a loro, e le pecore lo seguono, perchè ne riconoscono la voce.
5 They wil never fol ow a stranger, but wil run away from him because they do not recognise the voiceof strangers.'	5 Ad un estraneo, però, non van dietro, ma fuggono da lui, perchè non riconoscono la vece degli estranei.
6 Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he was saying to them.	6 Questa similitudine disse loro Gesù; ma essi non capirono quello che volesse dire.
7 So Jesus spoke to them again: In all truth I tell you, I am the gate of the sheepfold.	7 Onde Gesù disse loro di nuovo: In verità, in verità vi dico: io sono la porta delle pecore.
8 Al who have come before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep took no notice of them.	8 Quanti son venuti son tutti ladri e assassini; e le pecore non li hanno ascoltati.
9 I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and wil findpasture.	9 Io sono la porta. Chi per me passerà sarà salvo; entrerà ed uscirà e troverà pascoli.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kil and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have itto the full.	10 Il ladro non viene che per rubare, ammazzare e distruggere. Io sono venuto perchè abbiano la vita e l'abbiano in sovrabbondanza.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.	11 Io sono il buon pastore. Il buon pastore dà la vita per le sue pecorelle.
12 The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and the sheep do not belong to him, abandons thesheep as soon as he sees a wolf coming, and runs away, and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep;	12 Il mercenario invece e chi non è pastore, a cui non appartengono le pecore, vede venire il lupo, e lascia le pecore e fugge, e il lupo l'azzanna e disperde.
13 he runs away because he is only a hired man and has no concern for the sheep.	13 Il mercenario fugge perchè è mercenario, e non gli importa delle pecore.
14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me,	14 Io sono il buon pastore, e conosco le mie e le mie conoscono me;
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep.	15 come il Padre conosce me ed io conosco il Padre; e per le mie pecorelle dò la vita.
16 And there are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead these too. They too willlisten to my voice, and there wil be only one flock, one shepherd.	16 Ed ho delle altre pecorelle che non sono di questo ovile, anche queste bisogna che raduni, e daranno ascolto alla mia voce, e si avrà un solo ovile e un solo pastore.
17 The Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.	17 Per questo mi ama il Padre, perchè dò la vita per nuovamente riprenderla.
18 No one takes it from me; I lay it down of my own free wil , and as I have power to lay it down, so Ihave power to take it up again; and this is the command I have received from my Father.	18 E nessuno me la toglie; ma la dò io da me stesso e son padrone di darla e padrone di riprenderla. Questo comando ho ricevuto dal Padre mio.
19 These words caused a fresh division among the Jews.	19 Nacque nuovo dissenso tra Giudei per queste parole.
20 Many said, 'He is possessed, he is raving; why do you listen to him?'	20 Molti di loro dicevano: E' indemoniato e pazzo; perchè state ad ascoltarlo?
21 Others said, 'These are not the words of a man possessed by a devil: could a devil open the eyes ofthe blind?'	21 Altri dicevano: Questi non sono discorsi da indemoniato, può forse il demonio aprir gli occhi ai ciechi?
22 It was the time of the feast of Dedication in Jerusalem. It was winter,	22 E si faceva in Gerusalemme la festa della Dedicazione, ed era d'inverno.
23 and Jesus was in the Temple walking up and down in the Portico of Solomon.	23 E Gesù passeggiava nel tempio sotto il portico di Salomone.
24 The Jews gathered round him and said, 'How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? Ifyou are the Christ, tel us openly.'	24 Gli si affollarono allora d'intorno i Giudei e gli dissero: Fino a quando ci terrai sospesi? Se tu sei il Cristo, diccelo apertamente.
25 Jesus replied: I have told you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name are mywitness;	25 Rispose loro Gesù: Ve l'ho detto e non credete: le opere che faccio nel nome del Padre mio, queste mi rendono testimonianza.
26 but you do not believe, because you are no sheep of mine.	26 Ma voi non credete, perchè non siete delle mie pecore.
27 The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.	27 Le mie pecorelle ascoltan la mia voce, io le conosco ed esse mi seguono.
28 I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one wil ever steal them from my hand.	28 E dò loro la vita eterna, e in eterno mai periranno e nessuno le strapperà dalla mia mano.
29 The Father, for what he has given me, is greater than anyone, and no one can steal anything fromthe Father's hand.	29 Il Padre mio, che me l'ha date, è più grande di tutti e nessuno può rapirle di mano al Padre mio.
30 The Father and I are one.	30 Io ed il Padre mio siamo una sola cosa.
31 The Jews fetched stones to stone him,	31 I Giudei diedero allora di piglio alle pietre per lapidarlo.
32 so Jesus said to them, 'I have shown you many good works from my Father; for which of these areyou stoning me?'	32 Gesù disse loro: Molte buone opere vi mostrai per virtù del Padre mio; per quale di queste opere mi lapidate?
33 The Jews answered him, 'We are stoning you, not for doing a good work, but for blasphemy; thoughyou are only a man, you claim to be God.'	33 Gli risposero i Giudei: Non ti lapidiamo per nessuna opera buona; ma per la bestemmia, perchè tu che sei uomo ti fai Dio.
34 Jesus answered: Is it not written in your Law: I said, you are gods?	34 Replicò loro Gesù: Non è scritto nella vostra legge: Io dissi: voi siete dèi?
35 So it uses the word 'gods' of those people to whom the word of God was addressed -- and scripturecannot be set aside.	35 Ora se dèi chiamò quelli ai quali Dio parlò, e la Scrittura non può mancare,
36 Yet to someone whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world you say, 'You areblaspheming' because I said, 'I am Son of God.'	36 a me che il Padre ha consacrato e mandato al mondo, voi dite: Tu bestemmi, perchè ho detto: Son Figlio di Dio?
37 If I am not doing my Father's work, there is no need to believe me;	37 Se non fo le opere del Padre mio non mi credete.
38 but if I am doing it, then even if you refuse to believe in me, at least believe in the work I do; then youwil know for certain that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.	38 Ma se le fo, anche se non volete credere a me, credete alle opere; onde conosciate e crediate che il Padre è in me ed io nel Padre.
39 They again wanted to arrest him then, but he eluded their clutches.	39 Tentavano pertanto di prenderlo, ma uscì loro di mano.
40 He went back again to the far side of the Jordan to the district where John had been baptising at firstand he stayed there.	40 E se ne andò di nuovo oltre il Giordano, nel luogo dove principiò Giovanni a battezzare, e ci si fermò.
41 Many people who came to him said, 'John gave no signs, but all he said about this man was true';	41 E molti andavano a lui e dicevano: Giovanni, certo, non fece alcun prodigio,
42 and many of them believed in him.	42 ma quanto Giovanni disse di lui era vero. E molti credettero in lui.
