John 10

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 'In al truth I tel you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in someother way, is a thief and a bandit.	1 "En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui n'entre pas par la porte dans l'enclos des brebis, mais enfait l'escalade par une autre voie, celui-là est un voleur et un brigand;
2 He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock;	2 celui qui entre par la porte est le pasteur des brebis.
3 the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leadsthem out.	3 Le portier lui ouvre et les brebis écoutent sa voix, et ses brebis à lui, il les appelle une à une et il lesmène dehors.
4 When he has brought out al those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep fol ow becausethey know his voice.	4 Quand il a fait sortir toutes celles qui sont à lui, il marche devant elles et les brebis le suivent, parcequ'elles connaissent sa voix.
5 They wil never fol ow a stranger, but wil run away from him because they do not recognise the voiceof strangers.'	5 Elles ne suivront pas un étranger; elles le fuiront au contraire, parce qu'elles ne connaissent pas la voixdes étrangers."
6 Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he was saying to them.	6 Jésus leur tint ce discours mystérieux mais eux ne comprirent pas ce dont il leur parlait.
7 So Jesus spoke to them again: In all truth I tell you, I am the gate of the sheepfold.	7 Alors Jésus dit à nouveau: "En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, je suis la porte des brebis.
8 Al who have come before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep took no notice of them.	8 Tous ceux qui sont venus avant moi sont des voleurs et des brigands; mais les brebis ne les ont pasécoutés.
9 I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and wil findpasture.	9 Je suis la porte. Si quelqu'un entre par moi, il sera sauvé; il entrera et sortira, et trouvera un pâturage.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kil and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have itto the full.	10 Le voleur ne vient que pour voler, égorger et faire périr. Moi, je suis venu pour qu'on ait la vie etqu'on l'ait surabondante.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.	11 Je suis le bon pasteur; le bon pasteur donne sa vie pour ses brebis.
12 The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and the sheep do not belong to him, abandons thesheep as soon as he sees a wolf coming, and runs away, and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep;	12 Le mercenaire, qui n'est pas le pasteur et à qui n'appartiennent pas les brebis, voit-il venir le loup, illaisse les brebis et s'enfuit, et le loup s'en empare et les disperse.
13 he runs away because he is only a hired man and has no concern for the sheep.	13 C'est qu'il est mercenaire et ne se soucie pas des brebis.
14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me,	14 Je suis le bon pasteur; je connais mes brebis et mes brebis me connaissent,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep.	15 comme le Père me connaît et que je connais le Père, et je donne ma vie pour mes brebis.
16 And there are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead these too. They too willlisten to my voice, and there wil be only one flock, one shepherd.	16 J'ai encore d'autres brebis qui ne sont pas de cet enclos; celles-là aussi, il faut que je les mène; ellesécouteront ma voix; et il y aura un seul troupeau, un seul pasteur;
17 The Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.	17 c'est pour cela que le Père m'aime, parce que je donne ma vie, pour la reprendre.
18 No one takes it from me; I lay it down of my own free wil , and as I have power to lay it down, so Ihave power to take it up again; and this is the command I have received from my Father.	18 Personne ne me l'enlève; mais je la donne de moi-même. J'ai pouvoir de la donner et j'ai pouvoir dela reprendre; tel est le commandement que j'ai reçu de mon Père."
19 These words caused a fresh division among the Jews.	19 Il y eut de nouveau scission parmi les Juifs à cause de ces paroles.
20 Many said, 'He is possessed, he is raving; why do you listen to him?'	20 Beaucoup d'entre eux disaient: "Il a un démon; il délire. Pourquoi l'écoutez-vous?"
21 Others said, 'These are not the words of a man possessed by a devil: could a devil open the eyes ofthe blind?'	21 D'autres disaient: "Ces paroles ne sont pas d'un démoniaque. Est-ce qu'un démon peut ouvrir lesyeux d'un aveugle?"
22 It was the time of the feast of Dedication in Jerusalem. It was winter,	22 Il y eut alors la fête de la Dédicace à Jérusalem. C'était l'hiver.
23 and Jesus was in the Temple walking up and down in the Portico of Solomon.	23 Jésus allait et venait dans le Temple sous le portique de Salomon.
24 The Jews gathered round him and said, 'How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? Ifyou are the Christ, tel us openly.'	24 Les Juifs firent cercle autour de lui et lui dirent: "Jusqu'à quand vas-tu nous tenir en haleine? Si tu esle Christ, dis-le-nous ouvertement."
25 Jesus replied: I have told you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name are mywitness;	25 Jésus leur répondit: "Je vous l'ai dit, et vous ne croyez pas. Les oeuvres que je fais au nom de monPère témoignent de moi;
26 but you do not believe, because you are no sheep of mine.	26 mais vous ne croyez pas, parce que vous n'êtes pas de mes brebis.
27 The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.	27 Mes brebis écoutent ma voix, je les connais et elles me suivent;
28 I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one wil ever steal them from my hand.	28 je leur donne la vie éternelle; elles ne périront jamais et nul ne les arrachera de ma main.
29 The Father, for what he has given me, is greater than anyone, and no one can steal anything fromthe Father's hand.	29 Mon Père, quant à ce qu'il m'a donné, est plus grand que tous. Nul ne peut rien arracher de la maindu Père.
30 The Father and I are one.	30 Moi et le Père nous sommes un."
31 The Jews fetched stones to stone him,	31 Les Juifs apportèrent de nouveau des pierres pour le lapider.
32 so Jesus said to them, 'I have shown you many good works from my Father; for which of these areyou stoning me?'	32 Jésus leur dit alors: "Je vous ai montré quantité de bonnes oeuvres, venant du Père; pour laquelle deces oeuvres me lapidez-vous?"
33 The Jews answered him, 'We are stoning you, not for doing a good work, but for blasphemy; thoughyou are only a man, you claim to be God.'	33 Les Juifs lui répondirent: "Ce n'est pas pour une bonne oeuvre que nous te lapidons, mais pour unblasphème et parce que toi, n'étant qu'un homme, tu te fais Dieu."
34 Jesus answered: Is it not written in your Law: I said, you are gods?	34 Jésus leur répondit: "N'est-il pas écrit dans votre Loi: J'ai dit: Vous êtes des dieux?
35 So it uses the word 'gods' of those people to whom the word of God was addressed -- and scripturecannot be set aside.	35 Alors qu'elle a appelé dieux ceux à qui la parole de Dieu fut adressée - et l'Ecriture ne peut êtrerécusée --
36 Yet to someone whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world you say, 'You areblaspheming' because I said, 'I am Son of God.'	36 à celui que le Père a consacré et envoyé dans le monde vous dites: Tu blasphèmes, parce que j'ai dit:Je suis Fils de Dieu!
37 If I am not doing my Father's work, there is no need to believe me;	37 Si je ne fais pas les oeuvres de mon Père, ne me croyez pas;
38 but if I am doing it, then even if you refuse to believe in me, at least believe in the work I do; then youwil know for certain that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.	38 mais si je les fais, quand bien même vous ne me croiriez pas, croyez en ces oeuvres, afin dereconnaître une bonne fois que le Père est en moi et moi dans le Père."
39 They again wanted to arrest him then, but he eluded their clutches.	39 Ils cherchaient donc de nouveau à le saisir, mais il leur échappa des mains.
40 He went back again to the far side of the Jordan to the district where John had been baptising at firstand he stayed there.	40 De nouveau il s'en alla au-delà du Jourdain, au lieu où Jean avait d'abord baptisé, et il y demeura.
41 Many people who came to him said, 'John gave no signs, but all he said about this man was true';	41 Beaucoup vinrent à lui et disaient: "Jean n'a fait aucun signe; mais tout ce que Jean a dit de celui-ciétait vrai."
42 and many of them believed in him.	42 Et là, beaucoup crurent en lui.
