John 10

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'In al truth I tel you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in someother way, is a thief and a bandit.	1 "In verità, in verità vi dico: chi non entra per la porta nell'ovile delle pecore, ma s'arrampica da un'altra parte, è un ladro e un bandito.
2 He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock;	2 Chi invece entra per la porta è pastore delle pecore.
3 the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leadsthem out.	3 Il guardiano gli apre, le pecore ascoltano la sua voce e chiama le proprie pecore per nome e le fa uscire.
4 When he has brought out al those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep fol ow becausethey know his voice.	4 Quando ha spinto fuori tutte le proprie, cammina davanti a loro e le pecore lo seguono, perché conoscono la sua voce.
5 They wil never fol ow a stranger, but wil run away from him because they do not recognise the voiceof strangers.'	5 Non seguiranno affatto un estraneo, ma fuggiranno lontano da lui, perché non conoscono la voce degli estranei".
6 Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he was saying to them.	6 Gesù disse loro questa parabola. Ma quelli non compresero di che cosa volesse parlare loro.
7 So Jesus spoke to them again: In all truth I tell you, I am the gate of the sheepfold.	7 Gesù allora continuò: "In verità, in verità vi dico: io sono la porta delle pecore.
8 Al who have come before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep took no notice of them.	8 Tutti coloro che vennero prima di me sono ladri e briganti. Ma le pecore non li ascoltarono.
9 I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and wil findpasture.	9 Io sono la porta. Chi entrerà attraverso di me sarà salvo; entrerà ed uscirà e troverà pascolo.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kil and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have itto the full.	10 Il ladro non entra che per rubare, sgozzare e distruggere. Io sono venuto perché abbiano la vita e l'abbiano in sovrabbondanza.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.	11 Io sono il buon pastore. Il buon pastore dà la sua vita per le pecore.
12 The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and the sheep do not belong to him, abandons thesheep as soon as he sees a wolf coming, and runs away, and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep;	12 Il mercenario invece che non è pastore, cui non appartengono le pecore, vede venire il lupo, abbandona le pecore e fugge, e il lupo le rapisce e le disperde,
13 he runs away because he is only a hired man and has no concern for the sheep.	13 perché è mercenario e non gli importa delle pecore.
14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me,	14 Io sono il buon pastore e conosco le mie e le mie conoscono me,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep.	15 come il Padre conosce me e io conosco il Padre. Io do la mia vita per le pecore.
16 And there are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead these too. They too willlisten to my voice, and there wil be only one flock, one shepherd.	16 Ed ho altre pecore che non sono di questo ovile. Anch'esse io devo guidare, ascolteranno la mia voce e saranno un solo gregge, un solo pastore.
17 The Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.	17 Per questo il Padre mi ama, perché io do la mia vita per riprenderla di nuovo.
18 No one takes it from me; I lay it down of my own free wil , and as I have power to lay it down, so Ihave power to take it up again; and this is the command I have received from my Father.	18 Nessuno me la toglie, ma io la do da me stesso. Ho il potere di darla e ho il potere di riprenderla. Questo è il comando che ho ricevuto dal Padre mio".
19 These words caused a fresh division among the Jews.	19 Ci fu nuova divisione fra i Giudei a causa di queste parole.
20 Many said, 'He is possessed, he is raving; why do you listen to him?'	20 Molti di essi dicevano: "Ha un demonio e delira. Perché lo ascoltate?".
21 Others said, 'These are not the words of a man possessed by a devil: could a devil open the eyes ofthe blind?'	21 Altri dicevano: "Queste parole non sono di un indemoniato. Un demonio può forse aprire gli occhi ai ciechi?".
22 It was the time of the feast of Dedication in Jerusalem. It was winter,	22 A Gerusalemme ricorreva allora la festa della Dedicazione. Era inverno
23 and Jesus was in the Temple walking up and down in the Portico of Solomon.	23 e Gesù passeggiava nel tempio, sotto il portico di Salomone.
24 The Jews gathered round him and said, 'How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? Ifyou are the Christ, tel us openly.'	24 Lo circondarono i Giudei e gli dicevano: "Fino a quando ci tieni con l'animo sospeso? Se sei il Cristo, diccelo apertamente".
25 Jesus replied: I have told you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name are mywitness;	25 Rispose loro Gesù: "Ve l'ho detto e non credete. Le opere che faccio in nome del Padre mio, esse mi rendono testimonianza.
26 but you do not believe, because you are no sheep of mine.	26 Ma voi non credete, perché non siete delle mie pecore.
27 The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.	27 Le mie pecore ascoltano la mia voce e io le conosco e mi seguono.
28 I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one wil ever steal them from my hand.	28 Io do loro la vita eterna e non periranno mai; e nessuno le strapperà dalla mia mano.
29 The Father, for what he has given me, is greater than anyone, and no one can steal anything fromthe Father's hand.	29 Il Padre mio che me le ha date è più grande di tutti e nessuno le può strappare dalla mano del Padre.
30 The Father and I are one.	30 Io e il Padre siamo uno".
31 The Jews fetched stones to stone him,	31 I Giudei raccolsero di nuovo delle pietre per lapidarlo.
32 so Jesus said to them, 'I have shown you many good works from my Father; for which of these areyou stoning me?'	32 Gesù rispose loro: "Vi ho mostrato molte opere buone da parte del Padre. Per quale di queste opere mi lapidate?".
33 The Jews answered him, 'We are stoning you, not for doing a good work, but for blasphemy; thoughyou are only a man, you claim to be God.'	33 Gli risposero i Giudei: "Non ti lapidiamo per un'opera buona, ma per una bestemmia: perché tu che sei uomo, ti fai Dio".
34 Jesus answered: Is it not written in your Law: I said, you are gods?	34 Rispose loro Gesù: "Non è scritto nella vostra legge: Io ho detto: siete dèi?
35 So it uses the word 'gods' of those people to whom the word of God was addressed -- and scripturecannot be set aside.	35 Se ha detto dèi coloro cui fu rivolta la parola di Dio, e la Scrittura non si può abolire,
36 Yet to someone whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world you say, 'You areblaspheming' because I said, 'I am Son of God.'	36 a colui che il Padre ha santificato e ha mandato nel mondo voi dite: "Tu bestemmi", perché ho detto: "Io sono Figlio di Dio"?
37 If I am not doing my Father's work, there is no need to believe me;	37 Se non faccio le opere del Padre mio, non credetemi.
38 but if I am doing it, then even if you refuse to believe in me, at least believe in the work I do; then youwil know for certain that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.	38 Ma se le faccio, anche se non credete a me, credete alle opere, così che conosciate e cominciate a comprendere che il Padre è in me ed io nel Padre".
39 They again wanted to arrest him then, but he eluded their clutches.	39 Tentarono nuovamente di arrestarlo, ma egli sfuggì dalle loro mani.
40 He went back again to the far side of the Jordan to the district where John had been baptising at firstand he stayed there.	40 Poi andò di nuovo di là del Giordano, nel luogo in cui dapprima Giovanni aveva battezzato, e vi rimase.
41 Many people who came to him said, 'John gave no signs, but all he said about this man was true';	41 Molti vennero a lui e dicevano: "Giovanni non ha fatto nessun segno; ma tutto ciò che egli disse di costui era vero".
42 and many of them believed in him.	42 E là molti credettero in lui.
