John 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 'In al truth I tel you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in someother way, is a thief and a bandit.	1 - In verità, in verità vi dico: Chi non entra per la porta nell'ovile del gregge, ma vi sale per un'altra parte, è un ladro e brigante.
2 He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock;	2 Invece chi entra per la porta è il pastore delle pecore.
3 the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leadsthem out.	3 A lui apre il portiere e le pecore ne ascoltano la voce, ed egli le chiama per nome e le mena fuori.
4 When he has brought out al those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep fol ow becausethey know his voice.	4 E quando ha fatto uscire tutte le pecore, cammina loro innanzi e le pecore lo seguono, perchè ne conoscon la voce,
5 They wil never fol ow a stranger, but wil run away from him because they do not recognise the voiceof strangers.'	5 mentre non vanno dietro a un estraneo; anzi lo fuggono, non riconoscendo la voce degli estranei».
6 Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he was saying to them.	6 Gesù portò loro questa similitudine: ma essi non compresero di che cosa parlasse.
7 So Jesus spoke to them again: In all truth I tell you, I am the gate of the sheepfold.	7 Gesù dunque disse loro di nuovo: «In verità, in verità vi dico: Io sono la porta delle pecore.
8 Al who have come before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep took no notice of them.	8 Tutti quelli che son venuti, sono ladri e malandrini; ma le pecore non li hanno ascoltati.
9 I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and wil findpasture.	9 Io sono la porta. Chi entrerà per me, sarà salvo; entrerà e uscirà e troverà pascoli.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kil and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have itto the full.	10 Il ladro non viene se non per rubare, uccidere e distruggere. Io sono venuto perchè abbiano la vita e l'abbiano più abbondantemente.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.	11 Io sono il buon Pastore. Il buon pastore dà la vita per le sue pecore;
12 The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and the sheep do not belong to him, abandons thesheep as soon as he sees a wolf coming, and runs away, and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep;	12 laddove il mercenario e chi non è pastore o al quale non appartengono le pecore, quando vede venire il lupo, abbandona le pecore e scappa; e il lupo le afferra e le disperde.
13 he runs away because he is only a hired man and has no concern for the sheep.	13 Il mercenario scappa, perchè è mercenario e non gl'importa delle pecore.
14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me,	14 Io sono il buon Pastore e conosco le mie e le mie conoscono me,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep.	15 come il Padre conosce me ed io conosco il Padre; e per le mie pecore dò anche la vita.
16 And there are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead these too. They too willlisten to my voice, and there wil be only one flock, one shepherd.	16 Ho altre pecore, che non sono di questo ovile; anche quelle bisogna che io conduca; e daranno ascolto alla mia voce e si farà un solo ovile e un solo Pastore.
17 The Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.	17 Per questo mi ama il Padre, perchè io dò la mia vita per riprenderla poi.
18 No one takes it from me; I lay it down of my own free wil , and as I have power to lay it down, so Ihave power to take it up again; and this is the command I have received from my Father.	18 Nessuno me la toglie, ma io la dò da me stesso; ho il potere di darla ed il potere di riprenderla. Questo è il comando datomi dal Padre».
19 These words caused a fresh division among the Jews.	19 Nacque di nuovo un dissenso tra i Giudei per quelle parole.
20 Many said, 'He is possessed, he is raving; why do you listen to him?'	20 E molti di loro dicevano: «Ha un demonio, ed è pazzo! Perchè state ad ascoltarlo?»,
21 Others said, 'These are not the words of a man possessed by a devil: could a devil open the eyes ofthe blind?'	21 altri dicevano: «Queste non sono parole di chi ha un demonio; può forse il demonio aprire gli occhi ai ciechi?».
22 It was the time of the feast of Dedication in Jerusalem. It was winter,	22 Si celebrò a Gerusalemme la festa della Dedicazione. Era d'inverno;
23 and Jesus was in the Temple walking up and down in the Portico of Solomon.	23 e Gesù passeggiava nel tempio sotto il portico di Salomone.
24 The Jews gathered round him and said, 'How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? Ifyou are the Christ, tel us openly.'	24 I Giudei gli si fecero d'attorno e gli chiesero: «Fino a quando terrai sospeso l'animo nostro? Se tu sei il Cristo, dillo a noi chiaramente».
25 Jesus replied: I have told you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name are mywitness;	25 Gesù rispose loro: «Ve lo dico e voi non credete; le opere che faccio in nome del Padre mio rendono testimonianza di me.
26 but you do not believe, because you are no sheep of mine.	26 Ma voi non credete, perchè non siete delle mie pecorelle.
27 The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.	27 Le mie pecorelle ascoltano la mia voce; io le conosco ed esse mi seguono e
28 I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one wil ever steal them from my hand.	28 io dò loro la vita eterna; esse non periranno in eterno e nessuno me le strapperà di mano.
29 The Father, for what he has given me, is greater than anyone, and no one can steal anything fromthe Father's hand.	29 Ciò che il Padre mio mi ha dato, è da più di ogni cosa, e nessuno può rapirlo dalle mani del Padre mio.
30 The Father and I are one.	30 Io ed il Padre siamo uno».
31 The Jews fetched stones to stone him,	31 I Giudei presero allora delle pietre per lapidarlo.
32 so Jesus said to them, 'I have shown you many good works from my Father; for which of these areyou stoning me?'	32 Gesù disse loro: «Io vi ho fatto vedere molte opere buone del Padre mio; per quale di queste opere mi volere lapidare?».
33 The Jews answered him, 'We are stoning you, not for doing a good work, but for blasphemy; thoughyou are only a man, you claim to be God.'	33 I Giudei risposero: «Non ti lapidiamo per un'opera buona, ma per la bestemmia e perchè, essendo tu un uomo, ti fai Dio».
34 Jesus answered: Is it not written in your Law: I said, you are gods?	34 Gesù replicò loro: «Non è forse scritto nella vostra legge: "Io ho detto: - Voi siete dèi -"?
35 So it uses the word 'gods' of those people to whom the word of God was addressed -- and scripturecannot be set aside.	35 Ora se essa chiama dèi coloro ai quali la parola di Dio è stata diretta, - e la Scrittura non può essere annullata, -
36 Yet to someone whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world you say, 'You areblaspheming' because I said, 'I am Son of God.'	36 a quello, che il Padre santificò e inviò nel mondo, voi dite - Bestemmi! - perchè ho detto: - Sono Figlio di Dio? -
37 If I am not doing my Father's work, there is no need to believe me;	37 Se non faccio le opere del Padre mio, non credete in me,
38 but if I am doing it, then even if you refuse to believe in me, at least believe in the work I do; then youwil know for certain that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.	38 ma se le faccio e non volete credere a me, credete alle opere, affinchè sappiate e riconosciate che il Padre è in me e io sono nel Padre».
39 They again wanted to arrest him then, but he eluded their clutches.	39 Essi cercavano ancora d'impadronirsi di lui; ma uscì loro di mano,
40 He went back again to the far side of the Jordan to the district where John had been baptising at firstand he stayed there.	40 e se n'andò di nuovo oltre il Giordano, nel luogo dove prima Giovanni stava a battezzare; e quivi si fermò.
41 Many people who came to him said, 'John gave no signs, but all he said about this man was true';	41 E molti vennero a lui e dicevano: «Giovanni non fece alcun prodigio.
42 and many of them believed in him.	42 Ma quanto Giovanni ha detto di costui, era vero». E molti credettero in lui.
