John 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 'In al truth I tel you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in someother way, is a thief and a bandit.	1 «En verdad, en verdad os digo: el que no entra por la puerta en el redil de las ovejas, sino que escala por otro lado, ése es un ladrón y un salteador;
2 He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock;	2 pero el que entra por la puerta es pastor de las ovejas.
3 the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leadsthem out.	3 A éste le abre el portero, y las ovejas escuchan su voz; y a sus ovejas las llama una por una y las saca fuera.
4 When he has brought out al those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep fol ow becausethey know his voice.	4 Cuando ha sacado todas las suyas, va delante de ellas, y las ovejas le siguen, porque conocen su voz.
5 They wil never fol ow a stranger, but wil run away from him because they do not recognise the voiceof strangers.'	5 Pero no seguirán a un extraño, sino que huirán de él, porque no conocen la voz de los extraños».
6 Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he was saying to them.	6 Jesús les dijo esta parábola, pero ellos no comprendieron lo que les hablaba.
7 So Jesus spoke to them again: In all truth I tell you, I am the gate of the sheepfold.	7 Entonces Jesús les dijo de nuevo: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: yo soy la puerta de las ovejas.
8 Al who have come before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep took no notice of them.	8 Todos los que han venido delante de mí son ladrones y salteadores; pero las ovejas no les escucharon.
9 I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and wil findpasture.	9 Yo soy la puerta; si uno entra por mí, estará a salvo; entrará y saldrá y encontrará pasto.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kil and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have itto the full.	10 El ladrón no viene más que a robar, matar y destruir. Yo he venido para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.	11 Yo soy el buen pastor. El buen pastor da su vida por las ovejas.
12 The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and the sheep do not belong to him, abandons thesheep as soon as he sees a wolf coming, and runs away, and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep;	12 Pero el asalariado, que no es pastor, a quien no pertenecen las ovejas, ve venir al lobo, abandona las ovejas y huye, y el lobo hace presa en ellas y las dispersa,
13 he runs away because he is only a hired man and has no concern for the sheep.	13 porque es asalariado y no le importan nada las ovejas.
14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me,	14 Yo soy el buen pastor; y conozco mis ovejas y las mías me conocen a mí,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep.	15 como me conoce el Padre y yo conozco a mi Padre y doy mi vida por las ovejas.
16 And there are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead these too. They too willlisten to my voice, and there wil be only one flock, one shepherd.	16 También tengo otras ovejas, que no son de este redil; también a ésas las tengo que conducir y escucharán mi voz; y habrá un solo rebaño, un solo pastor.
17 The Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.	17 Por eso me ama el Padre, porque doy mi vida, para recobrarla de nuevo.
18 No one takes it from me; I lay it down of my own free wil , and as I have power to lay it down, so Ihave power to take it up again; and this is the command I have received from my Father.	18 Nadie me la quita; yo la doy voluntariamente. Tengo poder para darla y poder para recobrarla de nuevo; esa es la orden que he recibido de mi Padre».
19 These words caused a fresh division among the Jews.	19 Se produjo otra vez una disensión entre los judíos por estas palabras.
20 Many said, 'He is possessed, he is raving; why do you listen to him?'	20 Muchos de ellos decían: «Tiene un demonio y está loco. ¿Por qué le escucháis?»
21 Others said, 'These are not the words of a man possessed by a devil: could a devil open the eyes ofthe blind?'	21 Pero otros decían: «Esas palabras no son de un endemoniado. ¿Puede acaso un demonio abrir los ojos de los ciegos?»
22 It was the time of the feast of Dedication in Jerusalem. It was winter,	22 Se celebró por entonces en Jerusalén la fiesta de la Dedicación. Era invierno.
23 and Jesus was in the Temple walking up and down in the Portico of Solomon.	23 Jesús se paseaba por el Templo, en el pórtico de Salomón.
24 The Jews gathered round him and said, 'How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? Ifyou are the Christ, tel us openly.'	24 Le rodearon los judíos, y le decían: «¿Hasta cuándo vas tenernos en vilo? Si tú eres el Cristo, dínoslo abiertamente».
25 Jesus replied: I have told you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name are mywitness;	25 Jesús les respondió: «Ya os lo he dicho, pero no me creéis. Las obras que hago en nombre de mi Padre son las que dan testimonio de mí;
26 but you do not believe, because you are no sheep of mine.	26 pero vosotros no creéis porque no sois de mis ovejas.
27 The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.	27 Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz; yo las conozco y ellas mi siguen.
28 I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one wil ever steal them from my hand.	28 Yo les doy vida eterna y no perecerán jamás, y nadie las arrebatará de mi mano.
29 The Father, for what he has given me, is greater than anyone, and no one can steal anything fromthe Father's hand.	29 El Padre, que me las ha dado, es más grande que todos, y nadie puede arrebatar nada de la mano del Padre.
30 The Father and I are one.	30 Yo y el Padre somos uno».
31 The Jews fetched stones to stone him,	31 Los judíos trajeron otra vez piedras para apedrearle.
32 so Jesus said to them, 'I have shown you many good works from my Father; for which of these areyou stoning me?'	32 Jesús les dijo: «Muchas obras buenas que vienen del Padre os he mostrado. ¿Por cuál de esas obras queréis apedrearme?»
33 The Jews answered him, 'We are stoning you, not for doing a good work, but for blasphemy; thoughyou are only a man, you claim to be God.'	33 Le respondieron los judíos: «No queremos apedrearte por ninguna obra buena, sino por una blasfemia y porque tú, siendo hombre, te haces a ti mismo Dios».
34 Jesus answered: Is it not written in your Law: I said, you are gods?	34 Jesús les respondió: «¿No está escrito en vuestra Ley: Yo he dicho: dioses sois?
35 So it uses the word 'gods' of those people to whom the word of God was addressed -- and scripturecannot be set aside.	35 Si llama dioses a aquellos a quienes se dirigió la Palabra de Dios - y no puede fallar la Escritura -
36 Yet to someone whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world you say, 'You areblaspheming' because I said, 'I am Son of God.'	36 a aquel a quien el Padre ha santificado y enviado al mundo, ¿cómo le decís que blasfema por haber dicho: “Yo soy Hijo de Dios”?
37 If I am not doing my Father's work, there is no need to believe me;	37 Si no hago las obras de mi Padre, no me creáis;
38 but if I am doing it, then even if you refuse to believe in me, at least believe in the work I do; then youwil know for certain that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.	38 pero si las hago, aunque a mí no me creáis, creed por las obras, y así sabréis y conoceréis que el Padre está en mí y yo en el Padre».
39 They again wanted to arrest him then, but he eluded their clutches.	39 Querían de nuevo prenderle, pero se les escapó de las manos.
40 He went back again to the far side of the Jordan to the district where John had been baptising at firstand he stayed there.	40 Se marchó de nuevo al otro lado del Jordán, al lugar donde Juan había estado antes bautizando, y se quedó allí.
41 Many people who came to him said, 'John gave no signs, but all he said about this man was true';	41 Muchos fueron donde él y decían: «Juan no realizó ninguna señal, pero todo lo que dijo Juan de éste, era verdad».
42 and many of them believed in him.	42 Y muchos allí creyeron en él.
