NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God.	1 Im Anfang war das Wort, und das Wort war bei Gott, und das Wort war Gott.
2 He was with God in the beginning.	2 Im Anfang war es bei Gott.
3 Through him al things came into being, not one thing came into being except through him.	3 Alles ist durch das Wort geworden und ohne das Wort wurde nichts, was geworden ist.
4 What has come into being in him was life, life that was the light of men;	4 In ihm war das Leben und das Leben war das Licht der Menschen.
5 and light shines in darkness, and darkness could not overpower it.	5 Und das Licht leuchtet in der Finsternis und die Finsternis hat es nicht erfasst.
6 A man came, sent by God. His name was John.	6 Es trat ein Mensch auf, der von Gott gesandt war; sein Name war Johannes.
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness to the light, so that everyone might believe through him.	7 Er kam als Zeuge, um Zeugnis abzulegen für das Licht, damit alle durch ihn zum Glauben kommen.
8 He was not the light, he was to bear witness to the light.	8 Er war nicht selbst das Licht, er sollte nur Zeugnis ablegen für das Licht.
9 The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; he was coming into the world.	9 Das wahre Licht, das jeden Menschen erleuchtet, kam in die Welt.
10 He was in the world that had come into being through him, and the world did not recognise him.	10 Er war in der Welt und die Welt ist durch ihn geworden, aber die Welt erkannte ihn nicht.
11 He came to his own and his own people did not accept him.	11 Er kam in sein Eigentum, aber die Seinen nahmen ihn nicht auf.

15 John witnesses to him. He proclaims: 'This is the one of whom I said: He who comes after me haspassed ahead of me because he existed before me.'	15 Johannes legte Zeugnis für ihn ab und rief: Dieser war es, über den ich gesagt habe: Er, der nach mir kommt, ist mir voraus, weil er vor mir war.
16 Indeed, from his ful ness we have, al of us, received -- one gift replacing another,	16 Aus seiner Fülle haben wir alle empfangen, Gnade über Gnade.
17 for the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth have come through Jesus Christ.	17 Denn das Gesetz wurde durch Mose gegeben, die Gnade und die Wahrheit kamen durch Jesus Christus.

24 Now those who had been sent were Pharisees,	24 Unter den Abgesandten waren auch Pharisäer.
25 and they put this question to him, 'Why are you baptising if you are not the Christ, and not Elijah, andnot the Prophet?'	25 Sie fragten Johannes: Warum taufst du dann, wenn du nicht der Messias bist, nicht Elija und nicht der Prophet?
26 John answered them, 'I baptise with water; but standing among you -- unknown to you-	26 Er antwortete ihnen: Ich taufe mit Wasser. Mitten unter euch steht der, den ihr nicht kennt
27 is the one who is coming after me; and I am not fit to undo the strap of his sandal.'	27 und der nach mir kommt; ich bin es nicht wert, ihm die Schuhe aufzuschnüren.
28 This happened at Bethany, on the far side of the Jordan, where John was baptising.	28 Dies geschah in Betanien, auf der anderen Seite des Jordan, wo Johannes taufte.
29 The next day, he saw Jesus coming towards him and said, 'Look, there is the lamb of God that takesaway the sin of the world.	29 Am Tag darauf sah er Jesus auf sich zukommen und sagte: Seht, das Lamm Gottes, das die Sünde der Welt hinwegnimmt.
30 It was of him that I said, "Behind me comes one who has passed ahead of me because he existedbefore me."	30 Er ist es, von dem ich gesagt habe: Nach mir kommt ein Mann, der mir voraus ist, weil er vor mir war.
31 I did not know him myself, and yet my purpose in coming to baptise with water was so that he might berevealed to Israel.'	31 Auch ich kannte ihn nicht; aber ich bin gekommen und taufe mit Wasser, um Israel mit ihm bekanntzumachen.
32 And John declared, 'I saw the Spirit come down on him like a dove from heaven and rest on him.	32 Und Johannes bezeugte: Ich sah, dass der Geist vom Himmel herabkam wie eine Taube und auf ihm blieb.
33 I did not know him myself, but he who sent me to baptise with water had said to me, "The man onwhom you see the Spirit come down and rest is the one who is to baptise with the Holy Spirit."	33 Auch ich kannte ihn nicht; aber er, der mich gesandt hat, mit Wasser zu taufen, er hat mir gesagt: Auf wen du den Geist herabkommen siehst und auf wem er bleibt, der ist es, der mit dem Heiligen Geist tauft.
34 I have seen and I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.'	34 Das habe ich gesehen und ich bezeuge: Er ist der Sohn Gottes.
35 The next day as John stood there again with two of his disciples, Jesus went past,	35 Am Tag darauf stand Johannes wieder dort und zwei seiner Jünger standen bei ihm.
36 and John looked towards him and said, 'Look, there is the lamb of God.'	36 Als Jesus vorüberging, richtete Johannes seinen Blick auf ihn und sagte: Seht, das Lamm Gottes!
37 And the two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.	37 Die beiden Jünger hörten, was er sagte, und folgten Jesus.
38 Jesus turned round, saw them following and said, 'What do you want?' They answered, 'Rabbi' --which means Teacher-'where do you live?'	38 Jesus aber wandte sich um, und als er sah, dass sie ihm folgten, fragte er sie: Was wollt ihr? 39 He replied, 'Come and see'; so they went and saw where he lived, and stayed with him that day. It wasabout the tenth hour.	39 Er antwortete: Kommt und seht! Da gingen sie mit und sahen, wo er wohnte, und blieben jenen Tag bei ihm; es war um die zehnte Stunde.
40 One of these two who became followers of Jesus after hearing what John had said was Andrew, thebrother of Simon Peter.	40 Andreas, der Bruder des Simon Petrus, war einer der beiden, die das Wort des Johannes gehört hatten und Jesus gefolgt waren.
41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother and say to him, 'We have found the Messiah' -- whichmeans the Christ-	41 Dieser traf zuerst seinen Bruder Simon und sagte zu ihm: Wir haben den Messias gefunden. Messias heißt übersetzt: der Gesalbte (Christus).
42 and he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John; you are to becal ed Cephas' -- which means Rock.	42 Er führte ihn zu Jesus. Jesus blickte ihn an und sagte: Du bist Simon, der Sohn des Johannes, du sollst Kephas heißen. Kephas bedeutet: Fels (Petrus).
43 The next day, after Jesus had decided to leave for Galilee, he met Philip and said, 'Follow me.'	43 Am Tag darauf wollte Jesus nach Galiläa aufbrechen; da traf er Philippus. Und Jesus sagte zu ihm: Folge mir nach!
44 Philip came from the same town, Bethsaida, as Andrew and Peter.	44 Philippus war aus Betsaida, dem Heimatort des Andreas und Petrus.
45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, 'We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and theprophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.'	45 Philippus traf Natanaël und sagte zu ihm: Wir haben den gefunden, über den Mose im Gesetz und auch die Propheten geschrieben haben: Jesus aus Nazaret, den Sohn Josefs.
46 Nathanael said to him, 'From Nazareth? Can anything good come from that place?' Philip replied,'Come and see.'	46 Da sagte Natanaël zu ihm: Aus Nazaret? Kann von dort etwas Gutes kommen? Philippus antwortete: Komm und sieh!
47 When Jesus saw Nathanael coming he said of him, 'There, truly, is an Israelite in whom there is nodeception.'	47 Jesus sah Natanaël auf sich zukommen und sagte über ihn: Da kommt ein echter Israelit, ein Mann ohne Falschheit.
48 Nathanael asked, 'How do you know me?' Jesus replied, 'Before Philip came to call you, I saw youunder the fig tree.'	48 Natanaël fragte ihn: Woher kennst du mich? Jesus antwortete ihm: Schon bevor dich Philippus rief, habe ich dich unter dem Feigenbaum gesehen.
49 Nathanael answered, 'Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the king of Israel.'	49 Natanaël antwortete ihm: Rabbi, du bist der Sohn Gottes, du bist der König von Israel!
50 Jesus replied, 'You believe that just because I said: I saw you under the fig tree. You are going to seegreater things than that.'	50 Jesus antwortete ihm: Du glaubst, weil ich dir sagte, dass ich dich unter dem Feigenbaum sah? Du wirst noch Größeres sehen.
51 And then he added, 'In al truth I tel you, you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascendingand descending over the Son of man.'	51 Und er sprach zu ihm: Amen, amen, ich sage euch: Ihr werdet den Himmel geöffnet und die Engel Gottes auf- und niedersteigen sehen über dem Menschensohn.
