Luke 10

1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them out ahead of him in pairs, to all thetowns and places he himself would be visiting.	1 Dopo di ciò, il Signore designò altri settantadue discepoli e li mandò a due a due dinanzi a sé, in ogni città e luogo dove egli stava per andare.
2 And he said to them, 'The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest tosend labourers to do his harvesting.	2 Disse loro: «La messe è molta, ma gli operai sono pochi. Pregate, dunque, il Signore della messe che mandi operai alla sua messe.
3 Start off now, but look, I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.	3 Andate! ecco, vi mando come agnelli in mezzo ai lupi.
4 Take no purse with you, no haversack, no sandals. Salute no one on the road.	4 Non portate né borsa né bisaccia né sandali; e per via non salutate nessuno.
5 Whatever house you enter, let your first words be, "Peace to this house!"	5 In qualunque casa voi entriate dite dapprima: “Pace a questa casa!”.
6 And if a man of peace lives there, your peace will go and rest on him; if not, it will come back to you.	6 Se ivi sarà un figlio di pace, la vostra pace riposerà su di lui, altrimenti ritornerà a voi.
7 Stay in the same house, taking what food and drink they have to offer, for the labourer deserves hiswages; do not move from house to house.	7 Restate in quella casa, mangiando e bevendo ciò che vi sarà dato: l’operaio, infatti, è degno della sua mercede. Non passate di casa in casa.
8 Whenever you go into a town where they make you welcome, eat what is put before you.	8 In qualsiasi città entrerete e sarete accolti, mangiate ciò che vi vien posto dinanzi;
9 Cure those in it who are sick, and say, "The kingdom of God is very near to you."	9 guarite gli infermi che vi si trovano e dite loro: “Il regno di Dio è vicino a voi”.
10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not make you welcome, go out into its streets and say,	10 Ma in qualsiasi città entrerete e non sarete accolti, uscite sulle piazze e dite:
11 "We wipe off the very dust of your town that clings to our feet, and leave it with you. Yet be sure ofthis: the kingdom of God is very near."	11 “Anche la polvere della vostra città che si è attaccata ai nostri piedi scuotiamo da noi per lasciarvela; sappiate, però, questo: il regno di Dio è vicino”.
12 I tel you, on the great Day it wil be more bearable for Sodom than for that town.	12 Vi dico che, in quel giorno, a Sodoma toccherà una sorte migliore di quella che toccherà a questa città.
13 'Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done inTyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.	13 Guai a te, Chorazin! Guai a te Bethsaida! perché se in Tiro e Sidone fossero stati compiuti i miracoli compiuti in voi, da molto tempo, rivestiti di sacco e seduti nella polvere, avrebbero fatto penitenza.
14 And still, it wil be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the Judgement than for you.	14 Perciò a Tiro e Sidone toccherà nel giudizio una sorte più sopportabile della vostra.
15 And as for you, Capernaum, did you want to be raised high as heaven? You shal be flung down tohell.	15 E tu, Cafarnao, forse che sarai innalzata fino al cielo? Fino all’ade sarai precipitata.
16 'Anyone who listens to you listens to me; anyone who rejects you rejects me, and those who rejectme reject the one who sent me.'	16 Chi ascolta voi ascolta me, e chi disprezza voi disprezza me, ma chi disprezza me disprezza colui che mi ha mandato».
17 The seventy-two came back rejoicing. 'Lord,' they said, 'even the devils submit to us when we useyour name.'	17 I settantadue tornarono poi felici, dicendo: «Signore, anche i demoni si sottomettono a noi nel tuo nome!»
18 He said to them, 'I watched Satan fall like lightning from heaven.	18 Egli disse loro: «Vedevo Satana cadere dal cielo come folgore!
19 Look, I have given you power to tread down serpents and scorpions and the whole strength of theenemy; nothing shal ever hurt you.	19 Ecco che io vi ho dato il potere di calpestare serpenti e scorpioni e su ogni potenza del nemico; e niente vi nuocerà.
20 Yet do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you; rejoice instead that your names are written inheaven.'	20 Tuttavia non rallegratevi perché gli spiriti vi sono soggetti; rallegratevi, piuttosto, perché i vostri nomi sono scritti nei cieli».
21 Just at this time, fil ed with joy by the Holy Spirit, he said, 'I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and ofearth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children. Yes, Father,for that is what it has pleased you to do.	21 In quell’istante, Gesù trasalì di gioia nello Spirito Santo e disse: «Ti glorifico, Padre, Signore del cielo e della terra, perché hai nascosto queste cose ai sapienti e agli scaltri e le hai rivelate ai semplici. Sì, Padre, perché tale è stato il tuo beneplacito.
22 Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except theFather, and who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.'	22 Tutto mi è stato dato dal Padre mio, e nessuno conosce chi è il Figlio se non il Padre; né chi è il Padre se non il Figlio e colui al quale il Figlio voglia rivelarlo».
23 Then turning to his disciples he spoke to them by themselves, 'Blessed are the eyes that see whatyou see,	23 Poi, rivolgendosi in disparte ai discepoli, disse: «Beati gli occhi che vedono ciò che voi vedete;
24 for I tel you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see, and never saw it; to hearwhat you hear, and never heard it.'	24 poiché vi dico che molti profeti e re vollero vedere ciò che voi vedete e non lo videro, ed udire ciò che voi udite e non l’udirono».
25 And now a lawyer stood up and, to test him, asked, 'Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'	25 Ed ecco che un dottore della legge si levò per metterlo alla prova, dicendo: «Maestro, che cosa devo fare per avere in sorte la vita eterna?»
26 He said to him, 'What is written in the Law? What is your reading of it?'	26 Gesù gli disse: «Nella Legge che cosa è scritto ? come leggi?»
27 He replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with al your heart, with al your soul, with all yourstrength, and with al your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.'	27 Quegli rispose: «Amerai il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta la tua anima e con tutte le tue forze e con tutta la tua mente, e il prossimo tuo come te stesso».
28 Jesus said to him, 'You have answered right, do this and life is yours.'	28 Gli disse: «Hai risposto bene! fa’ questo e vivrai!»
29 But the man was anxious to justify himself and said to Jesus, 'And who is my neighbour?'	29 Ma quello, volendo giustificarsi, disse a Gesù: «E chi è il mio prossimo?»
30 In answer Jesus said, 'A man was once on his way down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fel into thehands of bandits; they stripped him, beat him and then made off, leaving him half dead.	30 Gesù riprese: «Un uomo scendeva da Gerusalemme a Gerico e si imbatté nei briganti, i quali, spogliatolo e caricatolo di percosse, se ne andarono lasciandolo mezzo morto.
31 Now a priest happened to be travel ing down the same road, but when he saw the man, he passed byon the other side.	31 Per quella via scendeva per caso un sacerdote, il quale vedutolo, passò oltre, dall’altro lato della strada.
32 In the same way a Levite who came to the place saw him, and passed by on the other side.	32 Similmente un levita; si trovò a passare in quel luogo e vide e passò oltre, per l’altro lato della strada.
33 But a Samaritan travel er who came on him was moved with compassion when he saw him.	33 Ma un Samaritano, che era in viaggio, gli capitò accanto e, vedendolo, s’impietosì.
34 He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. He then lifted him ontohis own mount and took him to an inn and looked after him.	34 Si avvicinò, gli bendò le ferite, cospargendole d’olio e di vino, poi, caricatolo sul proprio giumento, lo portò all’albergo e si prese cura di lui.
35 Next day, he took out two denari and handed them to the innkeeper and said, "Look after him, andon my way back I wil make good any extra expense you have."	35 Il giorno dopo, sborsò due denari e li diede all’albergatore, dicendo: “Abbi cura di lui, e quel che avrai speso di più te lo renderò al mio ritorno”.
36 Which of these three, do you think, proved himself a neighbour to the man who fel into the bandits'hands?'	36 Quale di questi tre ti sembra che sia stato il prossimo per colui che s’imbatté nei briganti?»
37 He replied, 'The one who showed pity towards him.' Jesus said to him, 'Go, and do the sameyourself.'	37 Il dottore della legge rispose: «Quello che gli usò misericordia». Gesù allora gli disse: «Va’, fa’ anche tu a quel modo».
38 In the course of their journey he came to a vil age, and a woman named Martha welcomed him intoher house.	38 Mentre erano in cammino entrò in un villaggio, e una donna di nome Marta lo ospitò nella casa.
39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat down at the Lord's feet and listened to him speaking.	39 Costei aveva una sorella chiamata Maria, la quale, sedutasi ai piedi del Signore, ascoltava la sua parola.
40 Now Martha, who was distracted with all the serving, came to him and said, 'Lord, do you not carethat my sister is leaving me to do the serving al by myself? Please tel her to help me.'	40 Marta, invece, era presa dalle molte faccende del servizio. Intervenendo, infine, disse: «Signore, non t’importa nulla che mia sorella mi abbia lasciata sola a occuparmi del servizio? Dille dunque che mi aiuti!»
41 But the Lord answered, 'Martha, Martha,' he said, 'you worry and fret about so many things,	41 Ma il Signore le rispose: «Marta, Marta, tu ti affanni e ti agiti per troppe cose;
42 and yet few are needed, indeed only one. It is Mary who has chosen the better part, and it is not to betaken from her.'	42 una sola è necessaria! Maria ha scelto la parte migliore, che non le sarà tolta».
