Luke 10

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them out ahead of him in pairs, to all thetowns and places he himself would be visiting.	1 Après cela, le Seigneur désigna 72 autres et les envoya deux par deux en avant de lui dans toute villeet tout endroit où lui-même devait aller.
2 And he said to them, 'The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest tosend labourers to do his harvesting.	2 Et il leur disait: "La moisson est abondante, mais les ouvriers peu nombreux; priez donc le Maître dela moisson d'envoyer des ouvriers à sa moisson.
3 Start off now, but look, I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.	3 Allez! Voici que je vous envoie comme des agneaux au milieu de loups.
4 Take no purse with you, no haversack, no sandals. Salute no one on the road.	4 N'emportez pas de bourse, pas de besace, pas de sandales, et ne saluez personne en chemin.
5 Whatever house you enter, let your first words be, "Peace to this house!"	5 En quelque maison que vous entriez, dites d'abord: Paix à cette maison!
6 And if a man of peace lives there, your peace will go and rest on him; if not, it will come back to you.	6 Et s'il y a là un fils de paix, votre paix ira reposer sur lui; sinon, elle vous reviendra.
7 Stay in the same house, taking what food and drink they have to offer, for the labourer deserves hiswages; do not move from house to house.	7 Demeurez dans cette maison-là, mangeant et buvant ce qu'il y aura chez eux; car l'ouvrier mérite sonsalaire. Ne passez pas de maison en maison.
8 Whenever you go into a town where they make you welcome, eat what is put before you.	8 Et en toute ville où vous entrez et où l'on vous accueille, mangez ce qu'on vous sert;
9 Cure those in it who are sick, and say, "The kingdom of God is very near to you."	9 guérissez ses malades et dites aux gens: Le Royaume de Dieu est tout proche de vous.
10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not make you welcome, go out into its streets and say,	10 Mais en quelque ville que vous entriez, si l'on ne vous accueille pas, sortez sur ses places et dites:
11 "We wipe off the very dust of your town that clings to our feet, and leave it with you. Yet be sure ofthis: the kingdom of God is very near."	11 Même la poussière de votre ville qui s'est collée à nos pieds, nous l'essuyons pour vous la laisser.Pourtant, sachez-le, le Royaume de Dieu est tout proche.
12 I tel you, on the great Day it wil be more bearable for Sodom than for that town.	12 Je vous dis que pour Sodome, en ce Jour-là, il y aura moins de rigueur que pour cette ville-là.
13 'Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done inTyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.	13 "Malheur à toi, Chorazeïn! Malheur à toi, Bethsaïde! Car, si les miracles qui ont eu lieu chez vousavaient eu lieu à Tyr et à Sidon, il y a longtemps que, sous le sac et assises dans la cendre, elles se seraientrepenties.
14 And still, it wil be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the Judgement than for you.	14 Aussi bien, pour Tyr et Sidon il y aura moins de rigueur, lors du Jugement, que pour vous.
15 And as for you, Capernaum, did you want to be raised high as heaven? You shal be flung down tohell.	15 Et toi, Capharnaüm, crois-tu que tu seras élevée jusqu'au ciel? Jusqu'à l'Hadès tu descendras!
16 'Anyone who listens to you listens to me; anyone who rejects you rejects me, and those who rejectme reject the one who sent me.'	16 "Qui vous écoute m'écoute, qui vous rejette me rejette, et qui me rejette rejette Celui qui m'a envoyé."
17 The seventy-two came back rejoicing. 'Lord,' they said, 'even the devils submit to us when we useyour name.'	17 Les 72 revinrent tout joyeux, disant: "Seigneur, même les démons nous sont soumis en ton nom!"
18 He said to them, 'I watched Satan fall like lightning from heaven.	18 Il leur dit: "Je voyais Satan tomber du ciel comme l'éclair!
19 Look, I have given you power to tread down serpents and scorpions and the whole strength of theenemy; nothing shal ever hurt you.	19 Voici que je vous ai donné le pouvoir de fouler aux pieds serpents, scorpions, et toute la puissance del'Ennemi, et rien ne pourra vous nuire.
20 Yet do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you; rejoice instead that your names are written inheaven.'	20 Cependant ne vous réjouissez pas de ce que les esprits vous sont soumis; mais réjouissez-vous de ceque vos noms se trouvent inscrits dans les cieux."
21 Just at this time, fil ed with joy by the Holy Spirit, he said, 'I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and ofearth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children. Yes, Father,for that is what it has pleased you to do.	21 A cette heure même, il tressaillit de joie sous l'action de l'Esprit Saint et il dit: "Je te bénis, Père,Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, d'avoir caché cela aux sages et aux intelligents et de l'avoir révélé aux tout-petits.Oui, Père, car tel a été ton bon plaisir.
22 Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except theFather, and who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.'	22 Tout m'a été remis par mon Père, et nul ne sait qui est le Fils si ce n'est le Père, ni qui est le Père si cen'est le Fils, et celui à qui le Fils veut bien le révéler."
23 Then turning to his disciples he spoke to them by themselves, 'Blessed are the eyes that see whatyou see,	23 Puis, se tournant vers ses disciples, il leur dit en particulier: "Heureux les yeux qui voient ce que vousvoyez!
24 for I tel you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see, and never saw it; to hearwhat you hear, and never heard it.'	24 Car je vous dis que beaucoup de prophètes et de rois ont voulu voir ce que vous voyez et ne l'ont pasvu, entendre ce que vous entendez et ne l'ont pas entendu!"
25 And now a lawyer stood up and, to test him, asked, 'Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'	25 Et voici qu'un légiste se leva, et lui dit pour l'éprouver: Maître, que dois-je faire pour avoir enhéritage la vie éternelle?"
26 He said to him, 'What is written in the Law? What is your reading of it?'	26 Il lui dit: "Dans la Loi, qu'y-a-t-il d'écrit? Comment lis-tu?"
27 He replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with al your heart, with al your soul, with all yourstrength, and with al your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.'	27 Celui-ci répondit: "Tu aimeras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, de tout ton coeur, de toute ton âme, de toute taforce et de tout ton esprit; et ton prochain comme toi-même" --
28 Jesus said to him, 'You have answered right, do this and life is yours.'	28 "Tu as bien répondu, lui dit Jésus; fais cela et tu vivras."
29 But the man was anxious to justify himself and said to Jesus, 'And who is my neighbour?'	29 Mais lui, voulant se justifier, dit à Jésus: "Et qui est mon prochain?"
30 In answer Jesus said, 'A man was once on his way down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fel into thehands of bandits; they stripped him, beat him and then made off, leaving him half dead.	30 Jésus reprit: "Un homme descendait de Jérusalem à Jéricho, et il tomba au milieu de brigands qui,après l'avoir dépouillé et roué de coups, s'en allèrent, le laissant à demi mort.
31 Now a priest happened to be travel ing down the same road, but when he saw the man, he passed byon the other side.	31 Un prêtre vint à descendre par ce chemin-là; il le vit et passa outre.
32 In the same way a Levite who came to the place saw him, and passed by on the other side.	32 Pareillement un lévite, survenant en ce lieu, le vit et passa outre.
33 But a Samaritan travel er who came on him was moved with compassion when he saw him.	33 Mais un Samaritain, qui était en voyage, arriva près de lui, le vit et fut pris de pitié.
34 He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. He then lifted him ontohis own mount and took him to an inn and looked after him.	34 Il s'approcha, banda ses plaies, y versant de l'huile et du vin, puis le chargea sur sa propre monture, lemena à l'hôtellerie et prit soin de lui.
35 Next day, he took out two denari and handed them to the innkeeper and said, "Look after him, andon my way back I wil make good any extra expense you have."	35 Le lendemain, il tira deux deniers et les donna à l'hôtelier, en disant: Prends soin de lui, et ce que tuauras dépensé en plus, je te le rembourserai, moi, à mon retour.
36 Which of these three, do you think, proved himself a neighbour to the man who fel into the bandits'hands?'	36 Lequel de ces trois, à ton avis, s'est montré le prochain de l'homme tombé aux mains des brigands?"
37 He replied, 'The one who showed pity towards him.' Jesus said to him, 'Go, and do the sameyourself.'	37 Il dit: "Celui-là qui a exercé la miséricorde envers lui." Et Jésus lui dit: "Va, et toi aussi, fais demême."
38 In the course of their journey he came to a vil age, and a woman named Martha welcomed him intoher house.	38 Comme ils faisaient route, il entra dans un village, et une femme, nommée Marthe, le reçut dans samaison.
39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat down at the Lord's feet and listened to him speaking.	39 Celle-ci avait une soeur appelée Marie, qui, s'étant assise aux pieds du Seigneur, écoutait sa parole.
40 Now Martha, who was distracted with all the serving, came to him and said, 'Lord, do you not carethat my sister is leaving me to do the serving al by myself? Please tel her to help me.'	40 Marthe, elle, était absorbée par les multiples soins du service. Intervenant, elle dit: "Seigneur, cela nete fait rien que ma soeur me laisse servir toute seule? Dis-lui donc de m'aider."
41 But the Lord answered, 'Martha, Martha,' he said, 'you worry and fret about so many things,	41 Mais le Seigneur lui répondit: "Marthe, Marthe, tu te soucies et t'agites pour beaucoup de choses;
42 and yet few are needed, indeed only one. It is Mary who has chosen the better part, and it is not to betaken from her.'	42 pourtant il en faut peu, une seule même. C'est Marie qui a choisi la meilleure part; elle ne lui sera pasenlevée."
