Matthew 7

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'Do not judge, and you will not be judged;	1 "Non giudicate, così non sarete giudicati.
2 because the judgements you give are the judgements you wil get, and the standard you use wil be thestandard used for you.	2 Infatti con il giudizio con cui giudicate sarete giudicati; e con la misura con cui misurate vi sarà misurato.
3 Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own?	3 Perché osservi la pagliuzza che sta nell'occhio del tuo fratello e non ti accorgi della trave che sta nel tuo?
4 And how dare you say to your brother, "Let me take that splinter out of your eye," when, look, there is agreat log in your own?	4 Oppure: come puoi dire al tuo fratello: "Lascia che tolga dal tuo occhio la pagliuzza", mentre la trave è là nel tuo occhio?
5 Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you wil see clearly enough to take thesplinter out of your brother's eye.	5 Ipocrita! Togli prima la trave dal tuo occhio e allora ci vedrai bene per togliere la pagliuzza dall'occhio del tuo fratello".
6 'Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs, or they may trample themand then turn on you and tear you to pieces.	6 "Non date ai cani le cose sacre, né gettate davanti ai porci le vostre perle, perché non le calpestino con le loro zampe e si rivoltino a sbranarvi".
7 'Ask, and it wil be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.	7 "Chiedete e vi sarà dato; cercate e troverete; bussate e vi sarà aperto.
8 Everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have the dooropened.	8 Infatti chi chiede riceve; chi cerca trova; a chi bussa sarà aperto.
9 Is there anyone among you who would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread?	9 C'è forse un uomo fra voi che, se suo figlio gli chiede un pane, gli darà un sasso?
10 Or would hand him a snake when he asked for a fish?	10 Oppure: se gli chiede un pesce, gli darà un serpente?
11 If you, then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more wil yourFather in heaven give good things to those who ask him!	11 Se dunque voi, anche se cattivi, sapete dare doni buoni ai vostri figli, quanto più il Padre vostro che è nei cieli darà cose buone a quanti gliene fanno richiesta?".
12 'So always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that is the Law and the Prophets.	12 "Quanto dunque desiderate che gli uomini vi facciano, fatelo anche voi ad essi. Questa è infatti la legge e i profeti".
13 'Enter by the narrow gate, since the road that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and manytake it;	13 "Entrate per la porta stretta; poiché spaziosa è la porta e larga la via che conduce alla perdizione; e molti sono quelli che vi si incamminano.
14 but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.	14 Quanto stretta è la porta e angusta è la via che conduce alla vita! E pochi sono quelli che la trovano!".
15 'Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves.	15 "Guardatevi dai falsi profeti: essi vengono a voi in veste di pecore, dentro invece sono lupi rapaci.
16 You wil be able to tel them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?	16 Dai loro frutti li riconoscerete. Si raccolgono forse uve dalle spine o fichi dai rovi?
17 In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit.	17 Così ogni albero buono dà frutti buoni; ogni albero cattivo dà frutti cattivi.
18 A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit.	18 Non può un albero buono dar frutti cattivi, né un albero cattivo dar frutti buoni.
19 Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire.	19 Ogni albero che non dà frutti buoni viene tagliato e gettato nel fuoco.
20 I repeat, you wil be able to tel them by their fruits.	20 Perciò dai loro frutti li riconoscerete".
21 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who wil enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the personwho does the wil of my Father in heaven.	21 "Non chiunque mi dice: "Signore, Signore", entrerà nel regno dei cieli, ma chi fa la volontà del Padre mio che è nei cieli.
22 When the day comes many wil say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, drive outdemons in your name, work many miracles in your name?"	22 Molti mi diranno in quel giorno: "Signore, Signore, non abbiamo forse profetato nel tuo nome? Nel tuo nome non abbiamo cacciato demòni e non abbiamo fatto nel tuo nome molti prodigi?".
23 Then I shal tel them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, al evil doers!	23 Allora dichiarerò loro: "Non vi ho mai conosciuti! Andate via da me, operatori d'iniquità".
24 'Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock.	24 "Chi perciò ascolta queste mie parole e le mette in pratica, può essere paragonato a un uomo saggio che costruì la sua casa sulla roccia.
25 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fal :it was founded on rock.	25 Cadde la pioggia, inondarono i fiumi e soffiarono i venti: si abbatterono su quella casa; ma non cadde. Era fondata infatti sulla roccia.
26 But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid manwho built his house on sand.	26 E chi ascolta queste mie parole, ma non le mette in pratica, può essere paragonato a un uomo stolto che costruì la sua casa sull'arena.
27 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!'	27 Cadde la pioggia, inondarono i fiumi e soffiarono i venti: si abbatterono su quella casa; e cadde, e la sua rovina fu grande!".
28 Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on thepeople	28 Quando Gesù ebbe finito questi discorsi, le folle rimasero stupite della sua dottrina;
29 because he taught them with authority, unlike their own scribes.	29 insegnava infatti come uno che ha autorità, non come i loro scribi.
