Zechariah 4

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 The angel who was talking to me came back and roused me as though rousing someone who wasasleep.	1 וישב המלאך הדבר בי ויעירני כאיש אשר יעור משנתו
2 And he asked me, 'What do you see?' I replied, 'As I look, there is a lamp-stand entirely of gold with abowl at the top of it; it holds seven lamps, with seven openings for the lamps on it.	2 ויאמר אלי מה אתה ראה ויאמר ראיתי והנה מנורת זהב כלה וגלה על ראשה ושבעה נרתיה עליה שבעה ושבעה מוצקות לנרות אשר על ראשה
3 By it are two olive trees, one to the right and the other to the left.'	3 ושנים זיתים עליה אחד מימין הגלה ואחד על שמאלה
4 I then said to the angel who was talking to me, 'What are those things, my lord?'	4 ואען ואמר אל המלאך הדבר בי לאמר מה אלה אדני
5 The angel who was talking to me replied, 'Do you not know what they are?' I said, 'No, my lord.'	5 ויען המלאך הדבר בי ויאמר אלי הלוא ידעת מה המה אלה ואמר לא אדני
6 He then gave me this answer,'These seven are the eyes of Yahweh, which range over the whole world.'	6 ויען ויאמר אלי לאמר זה דבר יהוה אל זרבבל לאמר לא בחיל ולא בכח כי אם ברוחי אמר יהוה צבאות
7 'What are you, great mountain? Beside Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! He wil bring out thekeystone while it is cheered with Hurrah! Hurrah!'	7 מי אתה הר הגדול לפני זרבבל למישר והוציא את האבן הראשה תשאות חן חן לה
8 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	8 ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר
9 'The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this Temple; his hands wil finish it. (Then you wilknow that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me to you.)	9 ידי זרבבל יסדו הבית הזה וידיו תבצענה וידעת כי יהוה צבאות שלחני אלכם
10 A day of little things, no doubt, but who would dare despise it? How they wil rejoice when they see thechosen stone in the hands of Zerubbabel!'	10 כי מי בז ליום קטנות ושמחו וראו את האבן הבדיל ביד זרבבל שבעה אלה עיני יהוה המה משוטטים בכל הארץ
11 Then I went on to ask him, 'What is the meaning of these two olive trees, to right and left of the lamp-stand?'	11 ואען ואמר אליו מה שני הזיתים האלה על ימין המנורה ועל שמאולה
12 (And I went on to ask him further, 'What is the meaning of the two olive branches discharging oilthrough the two golden openings?')	12 ואען שנית ואמר אליו מה שתי שבלי הזיתים אשר ביד שני צנתרות הזהב המריקים מעליהם הזהב
13 He replied, 'Do you not know what they are?' I said, 'No, my lord.'	13 ויאמר אלי לאמר הלוא ידעת מה אלה ואמר לא אדני
14 He said, 'These are the two anointed ones in attendance on the Lord of the whole world. This is theword of Yahweh with regard to Zerubbabel, 'Not by might and not by power, but by my spirit' -- says YahwehSabaoth.	14 ויאמר אלה שני בני היצהר העמדים על אדון כל הארץ
