NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	1 וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר
2 'Give the Israelites this order. Say: "When you enter the country (Canaan), this will be the countrywhich forms your heritage. This is Canaan as defined by its boundaries:	2 צו את בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם כי אתם באים אל הארץ כנען זאת הארץ אשר תפל לכם בנחלה ארץ כנען לגבלתיה
3 "The southern part of your country wil start from the desert of Zin, on the borders of Edom. Yoursouthern boundary wil start on the east at the end of the Salt Sea.	3 והיה לכם פאת נגב ממדבר צן על ידי אדום והיה לכם גבול נגב מקצה ים המלח קדמה
4 It wil then turn south towards the Ascent of the Scorpions and go by Zin to end in the south atKadesh-Barnea. It wil then run towards Hazar-Addar and pass through Azmon.	4 ונסב לכם הגבול מנגב למעלה עקרבים ועבר צנה והיה תוצאתיו מנגב לקדש ברנע ויצא חצר אדר ועבר עצמנה
5 From Azmon the boundary wil turn towards the Torrent of Egypt and end at the Sea.	5 ונסב הגבול מעצמון נחלה מצרים והיו תוצאתיו הימה
6 "Your seaboard wil be on the Great Sea; this will be your western boundary.	6 וגבול ים והיה לכם הים הגדול וגבול זה יהיה לכם גבול ים
7 "Your northern boundary wil be as fol ows: you wil draw a line from the Great Sea to Mount Hor,	7 וזה יהיה לכם גבול צפון מן הים הגדל תתאו לכם הר ההר
8 then from Mount Hor you wil draw a line to the Pass of Hamath, and the boundary will end at Zedad.	8 מהר ההר תתאו לבא חמת והיו תוצאת הגבל צדדה
9 From there it wil run on to Ziphron and end at Hazar-Enan. This wil be your northern boundary.	9 ויצא הגבל זפרנה והיו תוצאתיו חצר עינן זה יהיה לכם גבול צפון
10 "You will then draw your eastern boundary from Hazar-Enan to Shepham.	10 והתאויתם לכם לגבול קדמה מחצר עינן שפמה
11 The boundary wil run down from Shepham towards Riblah on the east side of Ain. Further down itwil keep to the eastern shore of the Sea of Chinnereth.	11 וירד הגבל משפם הרבלה מקדם לעין וירד הגבול ומחה על כתף ים כנרת קדמה
12 The frontier wil then fol ow the Jordan and end at the Salt Sea. "Such wil be your country with theboundaries surrounding it." '	12 וירד הגבול הירדנה והיו תוצאתיו ים המלח זאת תהיה לכם הארץ לגבלתיה סביב
13 Moses then gave the Israelites this order: 'This is the country, where your heritages wil be assignedby lot, and which Yahweh has ordered to be given to the nine tribes and the half-tribe,	13 ויצו משה את בני ישראל לאמר זאת הארץ אשר תתנחלו אתה בגורל אשר צוה יהוה לתת לתשעת המטות וחצי המטה
14 for the tribe of the Reubenites with their families and the tribe of the Gadites with their families havealready received their heritage; the half-tribe of Manasseh has also received its heritage.	14 כי לקחו מטה בני הראובני לבית אבתם ומטה בני הגדי לבית אבתם וחצי מטה מנשה לקחו נחלתם
15 These two tribes and the half-tribe have received their heritage on the other side of the Jordan byJericho, to the east, towards the sunrise.'	15 שני המטות וחצי המטה לקחו נחלתם מעבר לירדן ירחו קדמה מזרחה
16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	16 וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר
17 'Here are the names of the men who wil divide the country up for you: the priest Eleazar andJoshua son of Nun,	17 אלה שמות האנשים אשר ינחלו לכם את הארץ אלעזר הכהן ויהושע בן נון
18 and you wil take one leader from each tribe to divide the country up into heritages.	18 ונשיא אחד נשיא אחד ממטה תקחו לנחל את הארץ
19 Here are the names of these men: 'For the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;	19 ואלה שמות האנשים למטה יהודה כלב בן יפנה
20 'for the tribe of the Simeonites, Shemuel son of Ammihud;	20 ולמטה בני שמעון שמואל בן עמיהוד
21 'for the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Chislon;	21 למטה בנימן אלידד בן כסלון
22 'for the tribe of the Danites, the leader Bukki son of Jogli;	22 ולמטה בני דן נשיא בקי בן יגלי
23 'for the sons of Joseph: for the tribe of Manasseh, the leader Hanniel son of Ephod;	23 לבני יוסף למטה בני מנשה נשיא חניאל בן אפד
24 'for the tribe of the Ephraimites, the leader Kemuel son of Shiphtan;	24 ולמטה בני אפרים נשיא קמואל בן שפטן
25 'for the tribe of the Zebulunites, the leader Elizaphan son of Parnach;	25 ולמטה בני זבולן נשיא אליצפן בן פרנך
26 'for the tribe of the Issacharites, the leader Paltiel son of Azzan;	26 ולמטה בני יששכר נשיא פלטיאל בן עזן
27 'for the tribe of the Asherites, the leader Ahihud son of Shelomi;	27 ולמטה בני אשר נשיא אחיהוד בן שלמי
28 'for the tribe of the Naphtalites, the leader Pedahel son of Ammihud.'	28 ולמטה בני נפתלי נשיא פדהאל בן עמיהוד
29 These were the men whom Yahweh ordered to divide Canaan into heritages for the Israelites.	29 אלה אשר צוה יהוה לנחל את בני ישראל בארץ כנען
