Proverbs 5

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;	1 Meu filho, atende à minha sabedoria, presta atenção à minha razão,
2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,	2 a fim de conservares o sentido das coisas e guardares a ciência em teus lábios.
3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,	3 Porque os lábios da mulher alheia destilam o mel; seu paladar é mais oleoso que o azeite.
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.	4 No fim, porém, é amarga como o absinto, aguda como a espada de dois gumes.
5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;	5 Seus pés se encaminham para a morte, seus passos atingem a região dos mortos.
6 far from fol owing the path of life, her course is uncertain and she does not know it.	6 Longe de andarem pela vereda da vida, seus passos se extraviam, sem saber para onde.
7 And now, son, listen to me, never deviate from what I say:	7 Escutai-me, pois, meus filhos, não vos aparteis das palavras de minha boca.
8 set your course as far from her as possible, go nowhere near the door of her house,	8 Afasta dela teu caminho, não te aproximes da porta de sua casa,
9 or she wil hand over your honour to others, the years of your life to a man without pity,	9 para que não seja entregue a outros tua fortuna e tua vida a um homem cruel;
10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,	10 para que estranhos não se fartem de teus haveres e o fruto de teu trabalho não passe para a casa alheia;
11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan	11 para que não gemas no fim, quando forem consumidas tuas carnes e teu corpo
12 and exclaim, 'Alas, I hated discipline, my heart spurned al correction;	12 e tiveres que dizer: Por que odiei a disciplina, e meu coração desdenhou a correção?
13 I would not attend to the voice of my masters, I would not listen to those who tried to teach me.	13 Por que não ouvi a voz de meus mestres, nem dei ouvido aos meus educadores?
14 Now I have come to nearly every kind of misery, in the assembly and in the community.'	14 Por pouco eu chegaria ao cúmulo da desgraça no meio da assembléia do povo.
15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.	15 Bebe a água do teu poço e das correntes de tua cisterna.
16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:	16 Derramar-se-ão tuas fontes por fora e teus arroios nas ruas?
17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.	17 Sejam eles para ti só, sem que os estranhos neles tomem parte.
18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,	18 Seja bendita a tua fonte! Regozija-te com a mulher de tua juventude,
19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.	19 corça de amor, serva encantadora. Que sejas sempre embriagado com seus encantos e que seus amores te embriaguem sem cessar!
20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?	20 Por que hás de te enamorar de uma alheia e abraçar o seio de uma estranha?
21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.	21 Pois o Senhor olha os caminhos dos homens e observa todas as suas veredas.
22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.	22 O homem será preso por suas próprias faltas e ligado com as cadeias de seu pecado.
23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.	23 Perecerá por falta de correção e se desviará pelo excesso de sua loucura.
