Proverbs 5

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;	1 Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse, prête l'oreille à mon intelligence,
2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,	2 pour suivre la prudence et que tes lèvres gardent le savoir. Ne prête pas attention à la femmeperverse,
3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,	3 car les lèvres de l'étrangère distillent le miel et plus onctueux que l'huile est son palais;
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.	4 mais à la fin elle est amère comme l'absinthe, aiguisée comme une épée à deux tranchants.
5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;	5 Ses pieds descendent à la mort, ses démarches gagnent le shéol;
6 far from fol owing the path of life, her course is uncertain and she does not know it.	6 loin de prendre les sentiers de la vie, sa marche est incertaine et elle ne le sait pas.
7 And now, son, listen to me, never deviate from what I say:	7 Et maintenant, fils, écoutez-moi, ne vous écartez pas des paroles de ma bouche:
8 set your course as far from her as possible, go nowhere near the door of her house,	8 loin d'elle, passe ton chemin, n'approche pas de l'entrée de sa maison,
9 or she wil hand over your honour to others, the years of your life to a man without pity,	9 de peur qu'elle ne livre ton honneur à autrui, tes années à un homme impitoyable,
10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,	10 que ton bien n'engraisse des étrangers, que le fruit de ton labeur n'aille à des inconnus,
11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan	11 et que sur ta fin, ton corps et ta chair consumés, tu ne rugisses
12 and exclaim, 'Alas, I hated discipline, my heart spurned al correction;	12 et ne t'écries: "Hélas, j'ai haï la discipline, mon coeur a dédaigné la remontrance;
13 I would not attend to the voice of my masters, I would not listen to those who tried to teach me.	13 je n'ai pas écouté la voix de mes maîtres, je n'ai pas prêté l'oreille à ceux qui m'instruisaient!
14 Now I have come to nearly every kind of misery, in the assembly and in the community.'	14 Peu s'en faut que je sois au comble du malheur, au milieu de l'assemblée et de la communauté!"
15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.	15 Bois l'eau de ta propre citerne, l'eau jaillissante de ton puits!
16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:	16 Tes fontaines s'écouleraient au-dehors, tes ruisseaux sur les places publiques:
17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.	17 qu'ils restent pour toi seul, et non pour des étrangers avec toi!
18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,	18 Bénie soit ta source! Trouve la joie dans la femme de ta jeunesse:
19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.	19 biche aimable, gracieuse gazelle! En tout temps que ses seins t'enivrent, sois toujours épris deson amour!
20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?	20 Pourquoi, mon fils, te laisser égarer par une étrangère et embrasser le sein d'une inconnue?
21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.	21 Car les yeux de Yahvé observent les chemins de l'homme et surveillent tous ses sentiers.
22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.	22 Le méchant est pris à ses propres méfaits, dans les liens de son péché il est capturé.
23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.	23 Il mourra faute de discipline, par l'excès de sa folie il s'égarera.
