Proverbs 5

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;	1 Hijo mío, atiende a mi sabiduría, inclina tu oído a mi inteligencia,
2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,	2 para que guardes la debida discreción y tus labios conserven la ciencia.
3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,	3 Porque los labios de la mujer ajena destilan miel y su paladar en más suave que el aceite,
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.	4 pero al final, ella es amarga como el ajenjo, cortante como una espada de doble filo.
5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;	5 Sus pies descienden a la Muerte, sus pasos se precipitan en el Abismo;
6 far from fol owing the path of life, her course is uncertain and she does not know it.	6 ella no tiene en cuenta el sendero de la vida, va errante sin saber adonde.
7 And now, son, listen to me, never deviate from what I say:	7 Por eso, hijos, escúchenme y no se aparten de las palabras de mi boca.
8 set your course as far from her as possible, go nowhere near the door of her house,	8 Aleja de ella tu camino y no te acerques a la entrada de su casa,
9 or she wil hand over your honour to others, the years of your life to a man without pity,	9 no sea que entregues a otros tu honor y tus años, a un hombre cruel;
10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,	10 que gente extraña se sacie con tu fuerza y tus trabajos vayan a parar a casa ajena,
11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan	11 y que al fin tengas que gemir, cuando estén consumidos tu cuerpo y tu carne.
12 and exclaim, 'Alas, I hated discipline, my heart spurned al correction;	12 Entonces dirás, «¿Cómo aborrecí la instrucción y mi corazón despreció las advertencias?
13 I would not attend to the voice of my masters, I would not listen to those who tried to teach me.	13 Yo no escuché la voz de mis maestros ni atendí a los que me enseñaban.
14 Now I have come to nearly every kind of misery, in the assembly and in the community.'	14 Faltó poco para que estuviera en el colmo de la desgracia, en medio de la asamblea y de la comunidad».
15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.	15 Bebe el agua de tu cisterna y la que fluye de tu propio pozo.
16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:	16 Que tus fuentes no se dispersen hacia afuera ni tus corrientes de agua, por las calles.
17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.	17 Que ellas sean para ti solo y que no haya extraños junto a ti.
18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,	18 ¡Bendita sea tu fuente, y encuentra tu alegría en la mujer de tu juventud,
19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.	19 cierva amable, graciosa gacela! Que en todo tiempo te embriaguen sus amores y estés siempre prendado de su afecto.
20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?	20 Hijo mío, ¿por qué te dejarás prendar por la mujer ajena y abrazarás los pechos de una extraña?
21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.	21 Los caminos del hombre están bajo la mirada del Señor y él tiene en cuenta todos sus senderos.
22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.	22 El malvado será presa de sus propias faltas y quedará atrapado en los lazos de su pecado.
23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.	23 Morirá por falta de instrucción y se extraviará por su gran necedad.
