Proverbs 5

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;	1 - Figliolo mio, attento alla mia sapienza, alla prudenza mia porgi l'orecchio,
2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,	2 per far tesoro di riflessionie le tue labbra mettano in serbo una buona istruzione. Non dar retta alle fallacie della donna,
3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,	3 perchè un favo che stilla sono le labbra della meretrice e la sua gola ha un parlare che unge più dell'olio;
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.	4 ma alla fine è più amara del fiele e punge come una spada a due tagli.
5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;	5 I suoi piedi scendono nelle profondità della Morte e i suoi passi fan capo all'Inferno,
6 far from fol owing the path of life, her course is uncertain and she does not know it.	6 non procedono sul sentiero della vita, son erranti i suoi passi e investigabili.
7 And now, son, listen to me, never deviate from what I say:	7 Ed ora, figliuolo, ascoltamie non ti scostare dai detti della mia bocca:
8 set your course as far from her as possible, go nowhere near the door of her house,	8 La tua strada passi lungi da leie non avvicinarti alla porta della sua casa
9 or she wil hand over your honour to others, the years of your life to a man without pity,	9 e non dare agli altri il tuo onore e gli anni tuoi a gente spietata;
10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,	10 affinchè gli estranei non si riempiano delle tue sostanze e le tue fatiche non vadano a finire in casa altrui,
11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan	11 e debba gemere alla finequando avrai la tua carne ed il tuo corpo consunti
12 and exclaim, 'Alas, I hated discipline, my heart spurned al correction;	12 ed esclamare: «Perchè ho io detestato gli avvertimenti ed il mio cuore non diede retta alle correzioni
13 I would not attend to the voice of my masters, I would not listen to those who tried to teach me.	13 e non ascoltai la voce di chi mi ammoniva e non prestai orecchio ai miei maestri?
14 Now I have come to nearly every kind of misery, in the assembly and in the community.'	14 Poco mancò non fossi, per colmo di sciagura, tradotto in mezzo all'adunata ed al concilio!».
15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.	15 Bevi le acque della tua cisterna e quelle che scaturiscono entro il tuo pozzo;
16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:	16 le tue sorgenti riversino fuori, per le piazze si spandano le tue acque.
17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.	17 Siano per te solo e non abbiano parte teco gli estranei.
18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,	18 Sia la tua fonte benedetta e goditi la donna che hai amata giovine.
19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.	19 Amabile cerva, vezzosa gazzella, le sue carezze ti possano inebriare ognora; con amore vagheggiala costantemente.
20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?	20 E perchè invaghirti, figlio, di una estranea? e stringerti al seno una donna non tua?
21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.	21 Mentre il Signore tien d'occhio tutte le vie dell'uomo e osserva tutti i suoi passi?
22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.	22 Ma l'empio resterà schiavo delle sue inique passionie stretto nelle funi dei suoi peccati.
23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.	23 Egli morrà perchè non ebbe a cuore la correzione e dalla sua grande stoltezza resterà ingannato.
