Proverbs 5

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;	1 Figlio mio, sii attento alla mia sapienza, al mio insegnamento tendi il tuo orecchio,
2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,	2 per custodire consigli assennati e le tue labbra conservino la scienza.
3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,	3 Veramente le labbra dell'estranea stillano miele, molle più dell'olio è il suo palato,
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.	4 ma la sua fine è amara come assenzio, affilata come spada a doppio taglio.
5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;	5 I suoi piedi scendono alla morte, i suoi passi raggiungono gli inferi;

10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,	10 perché non godano gli altri della tua forza, i tuoi guadagni non vadano nella casa di un estraneo,
11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan	11 così che alla fine tu ruggisca, quando saranno consumati il tuo corpo e la tua carne.

15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.	15 Bevi l'acqua della tua cisterna, gli zampilli del tuo pozzo.
16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:	16 Non scorrano fuori le tue fontane né sulle piazze i tuoi ruscelli.
17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.	17 Siano per te soltanto, non per gli estranei insieme a te.
18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,	18 Sia benedetta la tua sorgente! Possa tu trovar la gioia nella donna della tua giovinezza,
19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.	19 amabile cerbiatta e gazzella deliziosa. I suoi seni ti inebrino in ogni tempo, dal suo amore tu sia sempre attratto.
20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?	20 Perché saresti attratto, figlio mio, da un'altra, stringeresti al seno un'altra donna?
21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.	21 Davanti agli occhi del Signore le vie dell'uomo, tutti i suoi sentieri egli scruta.
22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.	22 Le sue colpe imprigionano l'empio, dalle funi dei suoi peccati è preso.
23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.	23 Egli morrà, perché è senza disciplina, per l'eccesso della sua stoltezza perirà.
