Proverbs 5

1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen careful y to what I know;	1 Figliuol mio, sta attento alla sapienza, che io ti insegno, e porgi l'orecchio alla mia prudenza.
2 so that you may preserve discretion and your lips may guard knowledge. Take no notice of a loose-living woman,	2 Onde tu custodisca i miei concetti, e le tue labbra ritengano la disciplina. Non credere alle false lusinghe della donna:
3 for the lips of the adulteress drip with honey, her palate is more unctuous than oil,	3 Perocché le labbra della meretrice stillano miele, e molti più dell'olio sono le sue parole:
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.	4 Ma alla fine la troverai amara come l'assenzio, e trinciante come una spada a due tagli.
5 Her feet go down to death, Sheol the goal of her steps;	5 I piedi di lei si stradano verso la morte, e i suoi passi per termine hanno l'inferno.
6 far from fol owing the path of life, her course is uncertain and she does not know it.	6 Ella non batte la via della vita, i suoi andamenti sono instabili, e incom prensibili.
7 And now, son, listen to me, never deviate from what I say:	7 Adesso pertanto, figliuol mio, ascoltami, e non recedere dalle parole della mia bocca.
8 set your course as far from her as possible, go nowhere near the door of her house,	8 Vanne lungi da lei co' tuoi passi, e non appressarti alle porte della sua casa.
9 or she wil hand over your honour to others, the years of your life to a man without pity,	9 Affinchè tu non dia l'onor tuo a gente straniera, e gli anni tuoi ad una crudele:
10 and strangers wil batten on your property, and your produce go to the house of a stranger,	10 Se non vuoi, che delle tue facoltà si empiano gli estranei, e le tue fatiche vadano a finire in casa d'altri.
11 and, at your ending, your body and flesh having been consumed, you wil groan	11 Onde abbi tu da sospirare alla fine, allorché averai consunte le carni tue, e il tuo corpo,
12 and exclaim, 'Alas, I hated discipline, my heart spurned al correction;	12 Ed abbi a dire: Perché ebbi io in odio la disciplina, e non si arrendè alle riprensioni il mio cuore,
13 I would not attend to the voice of my masters, I would not listen to those who tried to teach me.	13 Ed io non ascoltai la voce di quelli, che mi ammonivano, e non diedi retta ai maestri?
14 Now I have come to nearly every kind of misery, in the assembly and in the community.'	14 Son quasi ingolfato in ogni sorta di male in mezzo alla Chiesa, e alla Sinagoga.
15 Drink the water from your own storage-well, fresh water from your own spring.	15 Bevi l'acqua di tua cisterna, e le acque vive del tuo pozzo:
16 Even if your fountains overflow outside, your streams of water in the public squares:	16 Si diramino le tue fonti al di fuori, e le tue acque si spandano per le piazze.
17 let them be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.	17 Siine tu solo il padrone, e non ne entrino a parte con te gli stranieri.
18 May your fountain-head be blessed! Find joy with the wife you married in your youth,	18 Benedetta sia la tua vena, e lieto vivi colla moglie sposata da te in tua giovinezza:
19 fair as a hind, graceful as a fawn: hers the breasts that ever fill you with delight, hers the love that everholds you captive.	19 Sia ella carissima come corvetta, e grata come un piccolo cervo: ti esilari l'amor di lei in ogni stagione, e nell'affetto di lei riponi sempre la tua contentezza.
20 Why be seduced, my son, by someone else's wife, and fondle the breast of a woman who belongs toanother?	20 Per qual motivo, o figliuol mio ti lascerai sedurre da una estranea, e riposerai in seno ad un'altra?
21 For the eyes of Yahweh observe human ways, and survey al human paths.	21 Il Signore sta osservando le vie dell'uomo, e nota tutti i suoi passi.
22 The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.	22 Dalle sue iniquità, riman preso l'empio, e stretto dalle funi de' suoi peccati.
23 For want of discipline, he dies, led astray by his own excessive folly.	23 Egli morrà, perché non ha abbracciato la disciplina, e dalla sua molta stoltezza si troverà ingannato.
