1 Better a mouthful of dry bread with peace than a house fil ed with quarrelsome sacrifices.	1 - Meglio un tozzo di pan secco in buona allegria, che una casa piena d'imbandigioni con discordia.
2 A shrewd servant comes off better than an unworthy child, he will share the inheritance with thebrothers.	2 Il servo saggio dominerà sui figli stoltie dividerà l'eredità con i fratelli.
3 A furnace for silver, a foundry for gold, but Yahweh for the testing of hearts!	3 Come l'argento si prova al fuoco e l'oro al fornello, così il Signore prova i cuori.
4 An evil-doer pays heed to malicious talk, a liar listens to a slanderous tongue.	4 Il malvagio ubbidisce alla lingua iniqua, e l'impostore dà retta alle labbra bugiarde.
5 To mock the poor is to insult the Creator, no one who laughs at distress wil go unpunished.	5 Chi disprezza il povero, oltraggia il suo fattore, e chi gode della rovina altrui, non andrà impunito.
6 The crown of the aged is their children's children; the children's glory is their father.	6 Corona dei vecchi, i figli dei figli, e gloria dei figli, i loro padri.
7 Fine words do not become the foolish, false words become a prince stil less.	7 Non s'addice all'ignorante un linguaggio ricercato, nè al principe, un labbro mendace.
8 A gift works like a talisman for one who holds it: it brings prosperity at every turn.	8 Gemma preziosissima è l'attesa di chi sta in aspettazione, dovunque si volge, si regola con attenzione.
9 Whoever covers an offence promotes love, whoever again raises the matter divides friends.	9 Chi cela il fallo procaccia amicizie e chi lo ridice, separa gli amici.
10 A reproof makes more impression on a person of understanding than a hundred strokes on a fool.	10 Più giova una correzione al prudente, che cento legnate allo stolto.
11 The wicked person thinks of nothing but rebellion, but a cruel messenger wil be sent to such a one.	11 Il malvagio cerca sempre sedizioni, ma un angelo crudele gli sarà inviato contro.
12 Rather come on a bear robbed of her cubs than on a fool in his fol y.	12 Meglio imbattersi in un'orsa derubata de' suoi nati, che nello stolto abbandonato alla sua stoltezza.
13 Disaster wil never be far from the house of one who returns evil for good.	13 Chi rende male per bene, non vedrà mai la sventura uscire di casa sua.
14 As well unleash a flood as start a dispute; desist before the quarrel breaks out.	14 Quei che dà la stura all'acqua gli è quei che dà principio alla rissa e poi si ritira, prima di soffrire oltraggio.
15 To absolve the guilty and condemn the upright, both alike are abhorrent to Yahweh.	15 Chi assolve l'empio e chi condanna il giustosono entrambi in abominio a Dio.
16 What good is money in the hand of a fool? To buy wisdom with it? The desire is not there.	16 Che giova allo stolto aver ricchezze, se non può comperare la saggezza? Chi innalza la propria casa cerca rovina, e chi ricusa d'imparare cadrà nel male.
17 A friend is a friend at all times, it is for adversity that a brother is born.	17 Chi è amico, ama sempre: e il fratello si esperimenta nelle avversità.
18 Whoever offers guarantees lacks sense and goes surety for a neighbour.	18 Lo stolto si frega le mani, quando entra mallevadore per l'amico.
19 The double-dealer loves sin, the proud courts ruin.	19 Chi medita discordie, ama le risse, e chi alza la porta, cerca rovina.
20 The tortuous of heart finds no happiness, the perverse of speech fal s into misery.	20 Chi è di cuor perverso, non troverà bene e chi ha lingua raggiratrice cadrà nei guai.
21 He who fathers a stupid child does so to his sorrow, the father of a fool knows no joy.	21 Nato è lo stolto a sua confusione, e neanche il padre si rallegrerà dello scemo.
22 A glad heart is excel ent medicine, a depressed spirit wastes the bones away.	22 L'animo allegro fa buon sangue e lo spirito triste secca le ossa.
23 Under cover of his cloak a bad man takes a gift to pervert the course of justice.	23 L'empio riceve doni di sotto mano, per sovvertire le vie della giustizia.
24 The intelligent has wisdom there before him, but the eyes of a fool range to the ends of the earth.	24 Sul volto del prudente riluce la sapienza; gli occhi degli stolti errano all'estremità della terra.
25 A foolish child is a father's sorrow, and the grief of her who gave the child birth.	25 Figlio stolto cruccio del padre, e dolore della madre che lo generò.
26 To fine the upright is indeed a crime, to strike the noble is an injustice.	26 Non è bene danneggiare il giusto, nè colpire un principe che rettamente giudica.
27 Whoever can control the tongue knows what knowledge is, someone of understanding keeps a cooltemper.	27 Chi modera i suoi discorsi è saggio ed accorto, e l'uomo che sa è di spirito riserbato.
28 If the fool holds his tongue, he may pass for wise; if he seals his lips, he may pass for intel igent.	28 Anche lo stolto se tacerà sarà creduto saggio, e intelligente, se chiuderà le labbra.
