Proverbs 12

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.	1 El que ama la instrucción ama la ciencia, el que odia la reprensión es tonto.
2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.	2 El bueno obtiene el favor de Yahveh; pero él condena al hombre taimado.
3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.	3 Nadie se afianza por la maldad, la raíz de los justos no vacilará.
4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.	4 Mujer virtuosa, corona del marido, mujer desvergonzada, caries en los huesos.
5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.	5 Las intenciones de los justos son equidad, los planes de los malos, son engano.
6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.	6 Las palabras de los malos son trampas sangrientas, pero a los rectos su boca los pone a salvo.
7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.	7 Derribados los malos, no existen ya más, mas la casa de los justos permanece.
8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.	8 Se alaba al hombre según su prudencia, el de corazón torcido será despreciado.
9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.	9 Más vale hombre sencillo que tiene un esclavo, que hombre glorioso a quien falta el pan.
10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.	10 El justo se cuida de su ganado, pero las entrañas de los malos son crueles.
11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	11 Quien cultiva su tierra se hartará de pan, quien persigue naderías es un insensato.
12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.	12 El placer del impío está en la maquinación de los malvados, pero la raíz de los justos producirá.
13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.	13 En el delito de los labios hay una trampa fatal, pero el justo saldrá de la angustia.
14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.	14 Por el fruto de su boca, se harta de bien el hombre, cada cual recibe el salario de sus obras.
15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.	15 El necio tiene por recto su camino, pero el sabio escucha los consejos.
16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.	16 El necio, al momento descubre su pena, el prudente oculta la ignominia.
17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.	17 Quien declara la verdad, descubre la justicia; el testigo mentiroso, la falsedad.
18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.	18 Quien habla sin tino, hiere como espada; mas la lengua de los sabios cura.
19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.	19 Los labios sinceros permanecen por siempre, la lengua mentirosa dura un instante.
20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.	20 Fraude en el corazón de quien trama el mal; gozo para los que aconsejan paz.
21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.	21 Ninguna desgracia le sucede al justo, pero los malos están llenos de miserias.
22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.	22 Los labios mentirosos abomina Yahveh; los que practican la verdad alcanzan su favor.
23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.	23 El hombre cauto oculta su ciencia, el corazón del insensato proclama su necedad.
24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.	24 La mano diligente obtiene el mando; la flojedad acaba en trabajos forzados.
25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.	25 Ansiedad en el corazón deprime al hombre, pero una palabra buena le causa alegría.
26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.	26 El justo enseña el camino a su prójimo, el camino de los malos los extravía.
27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.	27 El indolente no pone a asar su caza; la diligencia es la mejor fortuna del hombre.
28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.	28 En la senda de la justicia está la vida; el camino de los rencorosos lleva a la muerte.
