NEW JERUSALEM | NOVA VULGATA |
---|---|
Come, let us cry out with joy to Yahweh, acclaim the rock of our salvation. | 1 Venite, exsultemus Domino; iubilemus Deo salutari nostro. |
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving, acclaim him with music. | 2 Praeoccupemus faciem eius in confessione et in psalmis iubilemus ei. |
For Yahweh is a great God, a king greater than al the gods. | 3 Quoniam Deus magnus Dominus, et rex magnus super omnes deos. |
In his power are the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains are his; | 4 Quia in manu eius sunt profunda terrae, et altitudines montium ipsius sunt. |
the sea belongs to him, for he made it, and the dry land, moulded by his hands. | 5 Quoniam ipsius est mare, et ipse fecit illud, et siccam manus eius formaverunt. |
Come, let us bow low and do reverence; kneel before Yahweh who made us! | 6 Venite, adoremus et procidamus et genua flectamus ante Dominum, qui fecit nos, |
For he is our God, and we the people of his sheepfold, the flock of his hand. If only you would listen tohim today! | 7 quia ipse est Deus noster, et nos populus pascuae eius et oves manus eius. |
Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as at the time of Massah in the desert, | 8 Utinam hodie vocem eius audiatis: “ Nolite obdurare corda vestra, |
when your ancestors chal enged me, put me to the test, and saw what I could do! | 9 sicut in Meriba, secundum diem Massa in deserto, ubi tentaverunt me patres vestri: probaverunt me, etsi viderunt opera mea. |
For forty years that generation sickened me, and I said, 'Always fickle hearts; they cannot grasp myways.' | 10 Quadraginta annis taeduit me generationis illius et dixi: Populus errantium corde sunt isti. |
Then in my anger I swore they would never enter my place of rest. | 11 Et ipsi non cognoverunt vias meas; ideo iuravi in ira mea: Non introibunt in requiem meam ”. |
