NEW JERUSALEMDOUAI-RHEIMS
[Psalm Song For the Sabbath] It is good to give thanks to Yahweh, to make music for your name, MostHigh,1 A psalm of a canticle on the sabbath day.
to proclaim your faithful love at daybreak, and your constancy al through the night,2 It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High.
on the lyre, the ten-stringed lyre, to the murmur of the harp.3 To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night:
You have brought me joy, Yahweh, by your deeds, at the work of your hands I cry out,4 Upon an instrument of ten strings, upon the psaltery: with a canticle upon the harp.
'How great are your works, Yahweh, immensely deep your thoughts!'5 For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.
Stupid people cannot realise this, fools do not grasp it.6 O Lord, how great are thy works! thy thoughts are exceeding deep.
The wicked may sprout like weeds, and every evil-doer flourish, but only to be eternally destroyed;7 The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.
whereas you are supreme for ever, Yahweh.8 When the wicked shall spring up as grass: and all the workers of iniquity shall appear: That they may perish for ever and ever:
Look how your enemies perish, how all evil-doers are scattered!9 but thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.
You give me the strength of the wild ox, you anoint me with fresh oil;10 For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
I caught sight of the ambush against me, overheard the plans of the wicked.11 But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.
The upright wil flourish like the palm tree, will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.12 My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.
Planted in the house of Yahweh, they wil flourish in the courts of our God.13 The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.
In old age they wil stil bear fruit, wil remain fresh and green,14 They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.
to proclaim Yahweh's integrity; my rock, in whom no fault can be found.15 They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated,
that they may shew, That the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.
