[For the choirmaster Tune: 'The decrees are lilies' Of Asaph Psalm] Shepherd of Israel, listen, you wholead Joseph like a flock, enthroned on the winged creatures, shine forth1 For the leader; according to "Lilies." Eduth. A psalm of Asaph.
over Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh; rouse your valour and come to our help.2 Shepherd of Israel, listen, guide of the flock of Joseph! From your throne upon the cherubim reveal yourself
God, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe.3 to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Stir up your power, come to save us.
Yahweh, God Sabaoth, how long wil you flare up at your people's prayer?4 O LORD of hosts, restore us; Let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.
You have made tears their food, redoubled tears their drink.5 LORD of hosts, how long will you burn with anger while your people pray?
You let our neighbours quarrel over us, our enemies mock us.6 You have fed them the bread of tears, made them drink tears in abundance.
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe.7 You have left us to be fought over by our neighbors; our enemies deride us.
You brought a vine out of Egypt, to plant it you drove out nations;8 O LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.
you cleared a space for it, it took root and fil ed the whole country.9 You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove away the nations and planted it.
The mountains were covered with its shade, and the cedars of God with its branches,10 You cleared the ground; it took root and filled the land.
its boughs stretched as far as the sea, its shoots as far as the River.11 The mountains were covered by its shadow, the cedars of God by its branches.
Why have you broken down its fences? Every passer-by plucks its grapes,12 It sent out boughs as far as the sea, shoots as far as the river.
boars from the forest tear at it, wild beasts feed on it.13 Why have you broken down the walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit?
God Sabaoth, come back, we pray, look down from heaven and see, visit this vine;14 The boar from the forest strips the vine; the beast of the field feeds upon it.
protect what your own hand has planted.15 Turn again, LORD of hosts; look down from heaven and see; Attend to this vine,
They have thrown it on the fire like dung, the frown of your rebuke wil destroy them.16 the shoot your right hand has planted.
May your hand protect those at your side, the child of Adam you have strengthened for yourself!17 Those who would burn or cut it down-- may they perish at your rebuke.
Never again wil we turn away from you, give us life and we will cal upon your name.18 May your help be with the man at your right hand, with the one whom you once made strong.
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shal be safe.19 Then we will not withdraw from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.
LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.
