NEW JERUSALEMKING JAMES BIBLE
[For the choirmaster Tune: 'The decrees are lilies' Of Asaph Psalm] Shepherd of Israel, listen, you wholead Joseph like a flock, enthroned on the winged creatures, shine forth1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.
over Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh; rouse your valour and come to our help.2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.
God, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe.3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Yahweh, God Sabaoth, how long wil you flare up at your people's prayer?4 O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
You have made tears their food, redoubled tears their drink.5 Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.
You let our neighbours quarrel over us, our enemies mock us.6 Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe.7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
You brought a vine out of Egypt, to plant it you drove out nations;8 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
you cleared a space for it, it took root and fil ed the whole country.9 Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.
The mountains were covered with its shade, and the cedars of God with its branches,10 The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.
its boughs stretched as far as the sea, its shoots as far as the River.11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.
Why have you broken down its fences? Every passer-by plucks its grapes,12 Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?
boars from the forest tear at it, wild beasts feed on it.13 The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.
God Sabaoth, come back, we pray, look down from heaven and see, visit this vine;14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;
protect what your own hand has planted.15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
They have thrown it on the fire like dung, the frown of your rebuke wil destroy them.16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
May your hand protect those at your side, the child of Adam you have strengthened for yourself!17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
Never again wil we turn away from you, give us life and we will cal upon your name.18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shal be safe.19 Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
