Psalms 50

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 [Psalm Of Asaph] The God of gods, Yahweh, is speaking, from east to west he summons the earth.
2 From Zion, perfection of beauty, he shines forth;	2 Depuis Sion, beauté parfaite, Dieu resplendit;
3 he is coming, our God, and wil not be silent. Devouring fire ahead of him, raging tempest around him,	3 il vient, notre Dieu, il ne se taira point. Devant lui, un feu dévore, autour de lui, bourrasqueviolente;
4 he summons the heavens from on high, and the earth to judge his people.	4 il appelle les cieux d'en haut et la terre pour juger son peuple.
5 'Gather to me my faithful, who sealed my covenant by sacrifice.'	5 "Assemblez devant moi les miens, qui scellèrent mon alliance en sacrifiant."
6 The heavens proclaim his saving justice, 'God himself is judge.'Pause	6 Les cieux annoncent sa justice: "Dieu, c'est lui le juge! "
7 'Listen, my people, I am speaking, Israel, I am giving evidence against you, I, God, your God.	7 "Ecoute, mon peuple, j'accuse, Israël, et je t'adjure, moi, Dieu, ton Dieu.
8 'It is not with your sacrifices that I find fault, those burnt offerings constantly before me;	8 Ce n'est pas tes sacrifices que j'accuse, tes holocaustes constamment devant moi;
9 I will not accept any bul from your homes, nor a single goat from your folds.	9 je ne prendrai pas de ta maison un taureau, ni de tes bergeries des boucs.
10 'For all forest creatures are mine already, the animals on the mountains in their thousands.	10 Car tout fauve des forêts est à moi, des animaux sur les montagnes par milliers;
11 I know every bird in the air, whatever moves in the fields is mine.	11 je connais tous les oiseaux des cieux, toute bête des champs est pour moi.
12 'If I am hungry I shall not tel you, since the world and all it holds is mine.	12 Si j'ai faim, je n'irai pas te le dire, car le monde est à moi et son contenu.
13 Am I to eat the flesh of bul s or drink the blood of goats?	13 Vais-je manger la chair des taureaux, le sang des boucs, vais-je le boire?
14 'Let thanksgiving be your sacrifice to God, fulfil the vows you make to the Most High;	14 Offre à Dieu un sacrifice d'action de grâces, accomplis tes voeux pour le Très-Haut;
15 then if you call to me in time of trouble I wil rescue you and you wil honour me.'	15 appelle-moi au jour de l'angoisse, je t'affranchirai et tu me rendras gloire."
16 But to the wicked, God says: 'What right have you to recite my statutes, to take my covenant on yourlips,	16 Mais l'impie, Dieu lui déclare: "Que viens-tu réciter mes commandements, qu'as-tu mon alliance àla bouche,
17 when you detest my teaching, and thrust my words behind you?	17 toi qui détestes la règle et rejettes mes paroles derrière toi?
18 'You make friends with a thief as soon as you see one, you feel at home with adulterers,	18 Si tu vois un voleur, tu fraternises, tu es chez toi parmi les adultères;
19 your conversation is devoted to wickedness, and your tongue to inventing lies.	19 tu livres ta bouche au mal et ta langue trame la tromperie.
20 'You sit there, slandering your own brother, you malign your own mother's son.	20 Tu t'assieds, tu accuses ton frère, tu déshonores le fils de ta mère.
21 You do this, and am I to say nothing? Do you think that I am really like you? I charge you, indict youto your face.	21 Voilà ce que tu fais, et je me tairais? Penses-tu que je suis comme toi? Je te dénonce et m'expliquedevant toi.
22 'Think it out, you who forget God, or I wil tear you apart without hope of a rescuer.	22 Prenez bien garde, vous qui oubliez Dieu, que je n'emporte, et personne pour délivrer!
23 Honour to me is a sacrifice of thanksgiving; to the upright I wil show God's salvation.'	23 Qui offre l'action de grâces me rend gloire, à l'homme droit, je ferai voir le salut de Dieu."
