1 [For the choirmaster Of the sons of Korah Poem] God, we have heard for ourselves, our ancestorshave told us, of the deeds you did in their days, in days of old,	1 Al maestro del coro. Dei figli di Core. Maskil.
2 by your hand. To establish them in the land you drove out nations, to make room for them you harriedpeoples.	2 Dio, con i nostri orecchi abbiamo udito,i nostri padri ci hanno raccontatol’opera che hai compiuto ai loro giorni,nei tempi antichi.
3 It was not their own sword that won the land, nor their own arms which made them victorious, but yourhand it was and your arm, and the light of your presence, for you loved them.	3 Tu, per piantarli, con la tua mano hai sradicato le genti,per farli prosperare hai distrutto i popoli.
4 You are my king, my God, who decreed Jacob's victories;	4 Non con la spada, infatti, conquistarono la terra,né fu il loro braccio a salvarli;ma la tua destra e il tuo braccio e la luce del tuo volto,perché tu li amavi.
5 through you we conquered our opponents, in your name we trampled down those who rose up againstus.	5 Sei tu il mio re, Dio mio,che decidi vittorie per Giacobbe.
6 For my trust was not in my bow, my victory was not won by my sword;	6 Per te abbiamo respinto i nostri avversari,nel tuo nome abbiamo annientato i nostri aggressori.
7 it was you who saved us from our opponents, you who put to shame those who hate us.	7 Nel mio arco infatti non ho confidato,la mia spada non mi ha salvato,
8 Our boast was always of God, we praised your name without ceasing.Pause	8 ma tu ci hai salvati dai nostri avversari,hai confuso i nostri nemici.
9 Yet now you have abandoned and humiliated us, you no longer take the field with our armies,	9 In Dio ci gloriamo ogni giornoe lodiamo per sempre il tuo nome.
10 you leave us to fall back before the enemy, those who hate us plunder us at wil .	10 Ma ora ci hai respinti e coperti di vergogna,e più non esci con le nostre schiere.
11 You hand us over like sheep for slaughter, you scatter us among the nations,	11 Ci hai fatto fuggire di fronte agli avversarie quelli che ci odiano ci hanno depredato.
12 you sell your people for a trifle and make no profit on the sale.	12 Ci hai consegnati come pecore da macello,ci hai dispersi in mezzo alle genti.
13 You make us the butt of our neighbours, the mockery and scorn of those around us,	13 Hai svenduto il tuo popolo per una miseria,sul loro prezzo non hai guadagnato.
14 you make us a by-word among nations, other peoples shake their heads over us.	14 Hai fatto di noi il disprezzo dei nostri vicini,lo scherno e la derisione di chi ci sta intorno.
15 Al day long I brood on my disgrace, the shame written clear on my face,	15 Ci hai resi la favola delle genti,su di noi i popoli scuotono il capo.
16 from the sound of insult and abuse, from the sight of hatred and vengefulness.	16 Il mio disonore mi sta sempre davantie la vergogna copre il mio volto,
17 Al this has befal en us though we had not forgotten you, nor been disloyal to your covenant,	17 per la voce di chi insulta e bestemmiadavanti al nemico e al vendicatore.
18 our hearts never turning away, our feet never straying from your path.	18 Tutto questo ci è accadutoe non ti avevamo dimenticato,non avevamo rinnegato la tua alleanza.
19 Yet you have crushed us in the place where jackals live, and immersed us in shadow dark as death.	19 Non si era vòlto indietro il nostro cuore,i nostri passi non avevano abbandonato il tuo sentiero;
20 Had we forgotten the name of our God and stretched out our hands to a foreign god,	20 ma tu ci hai stritolati in un luogo di sciacallie ci hai avvolti nell’ombra di morte.
21 would not God have found this out, for he knows the secrets of the heart?	21 Se avessimo dimenticato il nome del nostro Dioe teso le mani verso un dio straniero,
22 For your sake we are being massacred all day long, treated as sheep to be slaughtered.	22 forse che Dio non lo avrebbe scoperto,lui che conosce i segreti del cuore?
23 Wake, Lord! Why are you asleep? Awake! Do not abandon us for good.	23 Per te ogni giorno siamo messi a morte,stimati come pecore da macello.
24 Why do you turn your face away, forgetting that we are poor and harrassed?	24 Svégliati! Perché dormi, Signore?Déstati, non respingerci per sempre!
25 For we are bowed down to the dust, and lie prone on the ground.	25 Perché nascondi il tuo volto,dimentichi la nostra miseria e oppressione?
26 Arise! Come to our help! Ransom us, as your faithful love demands.	26 La nostra gola è immersa nella polvere,il nostro ventre è incollato al suolo.
	27 Àlzati, vieni in nostro aiuto!Salvaci per la tua misericordia!
