NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 [For the choirmaster Of the sons of Korah Poem] God, we have heard for ourselves, our ancestorshave told us, of the deeds you did in their days, in days of old,	1 Del maestro de coro. De los hijos de Coré. Poema.
2 by your hand. To establish them in the land you drove out nations, to make room for them you harriedpeoples.	2 Oh Dios, nuestros padres nos contaron, y por eso llegó a nuestros oídos, la obra que hiciste antiguamente,
3 It was not their own sword that won the land, nor their own arms which made them victorious, but yourhand it was and your arm, and the light of your presence, for you loved them.	3 con tu propia mano, cuando ellos vivían. Tú expulsaste a las naciones para plantarlos a ellos; y para hacerlos crecer, destruiste a los pueblos.
4 You are my king, my God, who decreed Jacob's victories;	4 No ocuparon la tierra con su espada ni su brazo les obtuvo la victoria: fue tu mano derecha y tu brazo, fue la luz de tu rostro, porque los amabas.
5 through you we conquered our opponents, in your name we trampled down those who rose up againstus.	5 Eras tú, mi Rey y mi Dios, el que decidía las victorias de Jacob:
6 For my trust was not in my bow, my victory was not won by my sword;	6 con tu auxilio embestimos al enemigo y en tu Nombre aplastamos al agresor.
7 it was you who saved us from our opponents, you who put to shame those who hate us.	7 Porque yo no confiaba en mi arco ni mi espada me dio la victoria:
8 Our boast was always of God, we praised your name without ceasing.Pause	8 tú nos salvaste de nuestros enemigos y confundiste a nuestros adversarios.
9 Yet now you have abandoned and humiliated us, you no longer take the field with our armies,	9 Dios ha sido siempre nuestro orgullo: damos gracias a tu Nombre eternamente.
10 you leave us to fall back before the enemy, those who hate us plunder us at wil .	10 Pero ahora nos rechazaste y humillaste: dejaste de salir con nuestro ejército,
11 You hand us over like sheep for slaughter, you scatter us among the nations,	11 nos hiciste retroceder ante el enemigo y nuestros adversarios nos saquearon.
12 you sell your people for a trifle and make no profit on the sale.	12 Nos entregaste como ovejas al matadero y nos dispersaste entre las naciones;
13 You make us the butt of our neighbours, the mockery and scorn of those around us,	13 vendiste a tu pueblo por nada, no sacaste gran provecho de su venta.
14 you make us a by-word among nations, other peoples shake their heads over us.	14 Nos expusiste a la burla de nuestros vecinos, a la risa y al escarnio de los que nos rodean;
15 Al day long I brood on my disgrace, the shame written clear on my face,	15 hiciste proverbial nuestra desgracia y los pueblos nos hacen gestos de sarcasmo.
16 from the sound of insult and abuse, from the sight of hatred and vengefulness.	16 Mi oprobio está siempre ante mí y mi rostro se cubre de vergüenza,
17 Al this has befal en us though we had not forgotten you, nor been disloyal to your covenant,	17 por los gritos de desprecio y los insultos, por el enemigo sediento de venganza.
18 our hearts never turning away, our feet never straying from your path.	18 ¡Y todo esto nos ha sobrevenido sin que nos hayamos olvidado de ti, sin que hayamos traicionado tu alianza!
19 Yet you have crushed us in the place where jackals live, and immersed us in shadow dark as death.	19 Nuestro corazón no se volvió atrás ni nuestros pasos se desviaron de tu senda,
20 Had we forgotten the name of our God and stretched out our hands to a foreign god,	20 como para que nos aplastaras en un lugar desierto y nos cubrieras de tinieblas.
21 would not God have found this out, for he knows the secrets of the heart?	21 Si hubiéramos olvidado el nombre de nuestro Dios y recurrido a un dios extraño,
22 For your sake we are being massacred all day long, treated as sheep to be slaughtered.	22 Dios lo habría advertido, porque él conoce los secretos más profundos.
23 Wake, Lord! Why are you asleep? Awake! Do not abandon us for good.	23 Por tu causa nos dan muerte sin cesar y nos tratan como a ovejas que van al matadero.
24 Why do you turn your face away, forgetting that we are poor and harrassed?	24 ¡Despierta, Señor! ¿Por qué duermes? ¡Levántate, no nos rechaces para siempre!
25 For we are bowed down to the dust, and lie prone on the ground.	25 ¿Por qué ocultas tu rostro y te olvidas de nuestra desgracia y opresión?
26 Arise! Come to our help! Ransom us, as your faithful love demands.	26 Estamos hundidos en el polvo, nuestro cuerpo está pegado a la tierra.
	27 ¡Levántate, ven a socorrernos; líbranos por tu misericordia!
