Genesis 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, 'Breed, multiply and fil the earth.	1 E Dio benedisse Noè e i suoi figlioli, e disse loro: « Crescete e moltiplicatevi e riempite la terra,
2 Be the terror and the dread of al the animals on land and al the birds of heaven, of everything thatmoves on land and all the fish of the sea; they are placed in your hands.	2 e il timore e lo spavento di voi invada tutti gli animali della terra, tutti gli uccelli dell'aria. E tutto ciò che si muove sulla terra, e tutti i pesci del mare sono dati in vostro potere.
3 Every living thing that moves wil be yours to eat, no less than the foliage of the plants. I give youeverything,	3 Tutto quello che ha moto e vita sarà vostro cibo: io vi dò tutte queste cose come le erbe verdeggianti.
4 with this exception: you must not eat flesh with life, that is to say blood, in it.	4 Soltanto non mangerete la carne col sangue.
5 And I shal demand account of your life-blood, too. I shall demand it of every animal, and of man. Ofman as regards his fel ow-man, I shal demand account for human life.	5 Ma del vostro sangue io farò vendetta sopra ogni bestia, e vendicherò la vita dell'uomo sopra l'uomo e sopra il suo fratello.
6 He who sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God was mancreated.	6 Sarà sparso il sangue di chiunque spargerà il sangue dell'uomo, essendo l'uomo fatto ad immagine di Dio.
7 Be fruitful then and multiply, teem over the earth and subdue it!'	7 Voi dunque crescete e moltiplicatevi, spargetevi sopra la terra e riempitela ».
8 God spoke as fol ows to Noah and his sons,	8 Poi disse Dio a Noè ed ai suoi figlioli che eran con lui:
9 'I am now establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants to come,	9 « Ecco io stabilirò il mio patto con voi e colla vostra discendenza dopo di voi,
10 and with every living creature that was with you: birds, cattle and every wild animal with you;everything that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth.	10 e con tutti gli animali viventi che son con voi: uccelli, animali domestici e fiere della terra che sono usciti dall'arca, e tutte le bestie della terra.
11 And I shal maintain my covenant with you: that never again shal all living things be destroyed by thewaters of a flood, nor shal there ever again be a flood to devastate the earth.'	11 Io stabilirò il mio patto con voi, e tutti i viventi non saranno più distrutti colle acque del diluvio, e non vi sarà più diluvio a disertare la terra ».
12 'And this', God said, 'is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and everyliving creature with you for al ages to come:	12 Ecco, disse Dio, il segno del mio patto ch'io stabilisco fra me e voi e tutti gli esseri viventi che sono con voi, per tutte le generazioni future:
13 I now set my bow in the clouds and it wil be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.	13 porrò il mio arcobaleno nelle nubi e sarà il segno del patto fra me e la terra.
14 When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,	14 E quando avrò accumulate le nubi nel cielo, nelle nubi comparirà il mio arco,
15 I shal recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word al living things,and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy al living things.	15 ed io mi ricorderò del mio patto con voi e con ogni essere vivente che ha la carne, e non verranno più le acque del diluvio a sterminare tutti i viventi.
16 When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God andevery living creature on earth, that is, al living things.'	16 L'arcobaleno sarà nelle, nubi, ed io, guardandolo, mi ricorderò del patto sempiterno stabilito fra Dio ed ogni essere vivente di qualsiasi specie che è sulla terra ».
17 'That', God told Noah, 'is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and al livingthings on earth.'	17 E soggiunse Dio a Noè: « Questo è il segno del patto che io ho stabilito fra me ed ogni carne che è sulla terra ».
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth-Ham being the father ofCanaan.	18 I figlioli di Noè che usciron dall'arca erano Sem, Cam e lafet; Cam poi è il padre di Canaan.
19 These three were Noah's sons, and from these the whole earth was peopled.	19 Questi sono i tre figli di Noè, e da essi tutto il genere umano si sparse su tutta la terra.
20 Noah, a til er of the soil, was the first to plant the vine.	20 Or Noè, che era agricoltore, cominciò a lavorare la terra, e piantò una vigna.
21 He drank some of the wine, and while he was drunk, he lay uncovered in his tent.	21 E, avendo bevuto del vino, s'inebriò e giacque scoperto nella sua tenda.
22 Ham, father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.	22 E Cam, padre di Canaan, avendo veduto le vergogne del suo padre, andò fuori a dirlo ai suoi due fratelli.
23 Shem and Japheth took a cloak and they both put it over their shoulders, and walking backwards,covered their father's nakedness; they kept their faces turned away, and they did not look at their father naked.	23 Ma Sem e Iafet si misero un mantello sopra le spalle e camminando all'indietro, coprirono la nudità del padre, e siccome avevan la faccia dalla parte opposta, essi non videro le vergogne del loro padre.
24 When Noah awoke from his stupor he learned what his youngest son had done to him,	24 0r quando Noè si svegliò dalia sua ebbrezza e seppe quanto aveva fatto il suo figlio minore,
25 and said: Accursed be Canaan, he shal be his brothers' meanest slave.	25 disse:« Maledetto sia Canaan: egli sara il servo dei servi dei suoi fratelli ».
26 He added: Blessed be Yahweh, God of Shem, let Canaan be his slave!	26 poi disse: « Benedetto sia il Signore Dio di Sem e Canaan sia suo servo.
27 May God make space for Japheth, may he live in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his slave!	27 Dio dilati Iafet: egli abiti nelle tende di Sem, e Canaan sia suo servo ».
28 After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.	28 E Noè, dopo il diluvio, visse trecentocinquanta anni.
29 In al , Noah's life lasted nine hundred and fifty years; then he died.	29 Visse in tutto novecento cinquanta anni, e poi morì.
